  1. You guys are making it very hard to patiently wait for this release. Good job.
  2. When they were buried in the ground they made decent pillboxes against the Marines.

    F-15E?

It won't. Balance is not a requirement for a realistic simulation.
  4. Voted Panther. In my opinion the best medium tank of the war... and it looks the part.
  5. Post #98 this thread. No announcement yet though. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2588121&postcount=98 The F-111C didn't operate in Europe, Africa or the Middle East... and my preference is for aircraft I remember seeing when I was younger... My dad was Air Force and I'm a child of the cold war. Went to both Upper Heyford (a lot) and Lakenheath when I lived in England from 85-88 and Cannon AFB in 1989. I remember seeing the KC-10's at RAF Fairford and noted that they were not the usual KC-135's right before the El Dorado Canyon mission. The EF-111 Ravens woke me up the next day when they overflew my house when returning from that mission.
  6. That's good news. Pretty much right on schedule... maybe a little early. Exciting! Thanks Cobra.
  7. Well, now that RAZBAM has come to their decision already, it is nice to see the A-6, F-111, Jaguar, F-4 and F-105 so high up in the want list. Being that ED is probably going to do the F-16, My hope is for the A-6E TRAM Intruder or F-111D/E/F Aardvark. I had Janes F-15E so I would rather see aircraft that have not really been featured in combat flight sims before.
  8. Viggen looks rather fetching in that scheme.
  9. Opposing opinions do make for good debate... of course the other side of the coin is that ED have actually stated the purpose and reasoning behind the development of DCS World on this very website. His hopes were dashed because he didn't bother to read, didn't understand or simply doesn't wish to acknowledge the true goals ED is trying to achieve in their "sandbox simulation". Even with this leak of information as to what the modules are, we still do not know the details of the upcoming releases and I'm sure Cobra will be doing some damage control here in the next few days which will include said details. It does take a bit of time to do a proper update so I will not rush to judgment on who is being disrespectful or not.
  10. I really want to see Cobra's announcement more now as the F4U-1 could be multiple variants and I'd like to know if the Iwo map is a standalone or will be included with the Corsair release.
  11. Su-25T... Ka-50... Two of the most used aircraft in game and they were only really prototypes. At least the Viggen had a production run and was used for many years in service. I'm going to buy it.
  12. Yes this is true. The original F4U-1 had the birdcage canopy and was not used at Iwo Jima. The later F4U-1's with the R-2800-8W engine, lengthened tail wheel strut and raised cockpit (sometimes called F4U-1A) may have seen action at Iwo but I have not seen that version listed in any OOB's for that battle. The primary Corsair version used at Iwo was the F4U-1D and I believe there were some F4U-1C's as well. The Black Sheep hints are interesting as well as that squadron didn't have a presence at Iwo Jima, they were active in the Solomons and Okinawa. This revelation actually raises more questions from me so I am still looking forward to the LNS announcement. Are we getting multiple versions of the F4U-1? Is the Iwo map a standalone map? Is there another map that will be included with the Corsair?
  13. Nope, not trolling. You just missed the gist of the conversation due to only reading one post. Go back and read post #66 and #68.
  14. The F-15 is an outside possibility as well... It fit's with a lot of the capabilities required by Canada. I'm pretty sure they will go Super Hornet though.
  15. Well, it didn't really do anything... except the torch. Of course the D didn't either... OK I'll edit it for my Aussie brothers out there that love the Pig.
  16. The F-105D/G Thunderchief Su-17M-4 Fitter K Tu-22K Blinder Tu-22M3 Backfire F-111A/C/D/E/F Aardvark F-4E/G Phantom II's I'd love to have a B-1B as well but the map sizes in DCS preclude realistic missions for them... the maps are also a bit small for the Tupelov medium bombers I listed as well. The F-105's, F-4's and Su-17 will be right at home with maps of the size of the Black Sea/Caucasus.
  17. Why yes I would like to have an F-117A in DCS... Flown correctly it could be a game changer in future persistent campaigns. I'm thinking of deep interdiction and strike missions of which we have no player flyable aircraft that are truly optimized to those mission sets right now. I'd buy one.
  18. Su-17M4 is not an early Fitter. It's the latest Fitter in the line. The Su-17 designation was meant for Russian operated aircraft and the Su-20/22 designations were for export versions. The Su-20 was the Su-17M in Russian service. The some of the differing Su-22 versions were almost directly analogous to the Su-17 versions having the same designations... Su-17M4 = Su-22M4. Of course the designations for the Fitter series are difficult to understand say the least.

    DCS: F-5E!

All F-5E/F's have seven weapons stations. The term "hard point" refers to an area of the aircrafts structure specifically strengthened to carry an external load such as weapons or engines. The actual weapons pylons are removable. -Also, I wouldn't use pictures of scale models as reference. Too many modelers do not do the proper research as far as weapons are concerned.

    DCS: F-5E!

Exactly the way it should be. Looks like a solid all around weapons selection for the F-5. Keep up the good work!
  21. Tu-22M-3 is bigger than the F-14.... It's a Backfire C!!!
  22. First flight for the Douglas DC-3 was Dec 17, 1935. The military designation for the DC-3A is C-47. The first flight for a C-47 was Dec 23, 1941. The C-47 is still in active use today with the SAAF as the C-47TP. This is the gold standard for longevity as far as aircraft are concerned. The A-4 Skyhawk even has the Corsair beat for longevity in active service. I think you need to add some specifics in there to make that a true statement... like saying "for a naval single engine high wing attack aircraft." I will second the sentiment for the A-7 though. The F-8 Crusader, while it has a rudimentary attack capability, cannot hold a candle to the capability of the A-7 Corsair in ground attack. If all you want to do is turn and burn then the F-8 is what you want. For anything other than that the F-8 is not optimal. In DCS it would be nice to have a western ground attack aircraft similar in capability to the Su-25T so we could actually have realistic east vs west multiplayer scenarios. The A-7D/E would be perfect to fill that role.
  23. Squadron: Fighting 99th Side: BLUEFOR Callsign: - F99th Vampyre #14 Preferred Aircraft: UH-1H, Mi-8MTv2, Su-25T, A-10C, A-10A, Thanks

    DCS: F-5E!

The F-5E's LAU-100/LAU-101 are not able to carry or fire the AIM-120. Not all sidewinder rails are created equal. The F-16's uses the LAU-129 and Hornets/Super Hornets use LAU-127 which are fully capable of using the AIM-120.
  25. ED store for the pre-purchase unless you use the steam version. There is no pre-purchase for steam.
