Lol... I didn't even notice. The one I have is the 2002 edition.

That book is nice and all but it leaves out a lot of content. I would recommend this book instead: http://www.amazon.com/The-Complete-Encyclopedia-World-Aircraft/dp/0760705925 Plus it is way less expensive:thumbup:

+1 for the S-3B Viking. I worked on that platform for a number of years and it was a lot more than just a tanker. It had the best surface search radar at the time in the form of the APS-137 ISAR radar, JTIDS and a very good ESM set. The S-3B had the capability to launch AGM-84 Harpoon/SLAM, AGM-65 Maverick, ADM-141 TALD, Mk-82/83/84, Mk-46/50 Torpedoes, Mk-20 Rockeye, Mk-60 CAPTOR, Mk-62/63/64 Quickstrrike, Mk-65 and Mk-56. It also had great range and loiter as demanded by the original ASW mission. It was not a great tanker though because it's total fuel load was only about 9500lbs which, with exception to the H-60's was the smallest fuel load of any platform on the boat. It was a decent recovery tanker though so that's what it was used for. First fixed wing off the deck and last back on at the end of the night. As a final checker, I hated the yo-yo tanker sorties and absolutely loved the Sea Dragon missions in the gulf. Yo-yo's were launched on one cycle and as would be back immediately in the next recovery and made for a lot of frantic work to turn around to launch again in a really small timeframe. Sea Dragon missions would launch out double bubble and be gone between four to six hours running up and down the coast of Iran doing maritime reconnaissance and probing response times of their air force. Here's a nice pic I found on the web of a weapons det we did from Atsugi when I was with VS-21. Location is the CALA at K-bay HI in, I believe 2000. Was a very memorable det... don't use a coconut for a football... it really hurts! The ES-3A Shadow would be nice as well:

Well, it was definitely the last war cruise and I was there. After we got back in 2006 I transferred to VX-9 that April so I was not there for the final surge they did a few months later and all of the Tomcats were retired in September 2006. Everything I have posted is easily verifiable if you just take the time to research it.

Ok Bombcat was a catchy name given to the Tomcats (A/B/D) that were equipped to drop air to ground ordnance... It was a marketing ploy to let commanders in the field//at sea know that the Tomcat had these capabilities and they were available for use. Remember, up to this time the Tomcat was dedicated air to air platform and that was a good way to keep the Tomcats suitably employed. It was there to justify the communities existence. So yes, the B was the Bombcat... as was the A and D. Even more, the first Bombcat squadron was VF-103... equipped with the F-14B. In July 1992 fleet Tomcats were cleared to drop general purpose bombs. Cluster Bombs and LGB's followed soon after that. The first fleet LANTIRN pod was accepted on 14 June 1996 by the SECNAV himself, the Honorable John Dalton. LANTIRN integration was conducted in 1995. The first air to ground Tomcats were B models and the first to drop bombs in anger were A models with VF-41 on 5 Sep 1995. VF-154 flew F-14A Tomcats till September 2003. VF-103 flew the F-14B until December 2004. There are other instances but this suffices for the point. The last Tomcat squadrons were D models with VF-31 and VF-213 . I was on the final Tomcat war cruise in 2005/6. Please research the subject a bit before posting.

You might want to do a little research on that because that info is totally incorrect.

The AIM-54 mounts flush with the pallet... It does not need an adapter. -

The attachments mounted on the Phoenix pallets are used for mounting bombs. Check out this pic: EDIT: LOL, I just accidently linked a pic from a post I made over at combatace! http://combatace.com/topic/41622-f-14a-typical-loadout-in-air-air-combat/ -

Technically, yes but while they were designated A+ they were without any significant air to ground capability. -

For a Forum thread this sure seems like a party. Everyone seems to have cat scratch fever. -
You know that the Mossy, Beau and A-20 are not considered medium bombers right? Mossy is a Light Bomber/Fighter-Bomber, Beau is a Fighter-Bomber and A-20 is an Attack/Light Bomber. The B-26 Marauder needs to happen.

True, a GPS was integrated into the Tomcats AAQ-14 as well to create the Lantirn Targeting System (LTS) which was a better system than the F-15E or F-16's had due to the pod being a self contained targeting system. -

Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infra Red for Night- LANTIRN Its a FLIR with a laser targeting capability. The F-14D's APG-71 Radar has the capability for ground mapping and possibly ground attack modes similar to the APG-70 of the F-15E although I cannot verify what modes were actually used... if any. https://books.google.com/books?id=l-DzknmTgDUC&pg=PA214&lpg=PA214&dq=APG-71+multi+mode+Radar&source=bl&ots=2tcOCYqbHo&sig=0rcwPkB7qJQQKHyvlfB2-SMQthI&hl=en&sa=X&ei=roTzVPa0D4PxoAS1zoK4Cg&ved=0CFsQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=APG-71%20multi%20mode%20Radar&f=false The APG-71 Radar, AAQ-14 LANTIRN 40k, AAS-42 IRST and AXX-1 TCS combined with a dedicated RIO to operate the systems will make the F-14D Super Tommy a very tough nut to crack in the DCS skies. I will be happy with any variant of the Tomcat though. -

My thoughts are for a possible Solomon's or Philippine sea/Leyte Gulf map. We have seen the Corsair Cockpit, the pic on the website that looks like CV-6. Putting those two clues together suggests a post Midway scenario as the Corsair was not used in Midway. Cobra, I take it one of the new features you will be working on will be the implementation of Torpedoes as viable anti ship weapons? The Midway scenario would be interesting as well as there were new types being used for the first time in that battle. I would love to have a TBM Avenger or B-26 Marauder. Not really looking forward to the Devastator though... Torpedo 8 anyone? -

Interesting, was hoping for the next module announcement... whats another two days anyway. Nice to see the focus on developing actual theaters though. -
All I did was run the repair and it worked like a charm. No uninstalling or reinstalling necessary.

The Navy did the same thing for their heritage flights in Lemoore back in 2012. I got to get a really good look at a Wildcat, Buckeye and my personal favorite the F4U Corsair while they were parked on VFA-122's line as well as see them fly their formations.

Well, some people just want to blow things up. Other people want to fly the aircraft. Still others want to perform missions to achieve objectives. I like to do all three, so I would buy a UH-60 or CH-47 as quickly as I would buy a Mi-24 or AH-1F. For the here and now, the CTTS scripts bring a lot of fun to using the utility helo's. The ability to capture and use airfields with the troop transport scripts is very useful (I love dropping a stinger team off at the departure end of an enemy airfield and watching the mayhem ensue as well). Lately I've been practicing moving sling loads to oil platforms and ships which takes a lot of concentration. Arma is an infantry simulator and everything else in the game plays second fiddle to that. That being the case, Arma is a poor comparison for troop insertion as the aircraft flight models suck and weight is not simulated... A Blackhawk could never sling load an M-1 Abrams. In DCS the weight can be added to the helo's to make them fly as they would with an actual cargo... The only issue with this at the moment is that the cargo cannot be seen and when disembarking from the helo the troops magically appear outside the helo which in my opinion is a poor reason to justify not purchasing a utility type. I bought the huey knowing the current limitations of DCS... but I also know that DCS is still being developed so the growth of features is inevitable. Will it be an Arma type infantry sim in the future? I don't know, but it is an outstanding aircraft simulator right now and that's is why I use it. Oh, and after the Hind F I wwould like to see the MV-22 Osprey.
