  1. I don't know what rig you are playing on but I helped a friend with a Samsung laptop out with a similar issue. In his case it wasn't actually Optimus that was borked. I turned out that Samsung had shipped a bunch of laptops with outdated bios versions that weren't compatible with Optimusl. Updating the bios solved all issues.
  2. Surely a drop from 60+ to 14-20 fps and stuttering can't be considered normal? I have a liquid cooled i5 3570K oc'ed to 4.2 GHz, a MSI GTX 680 Lightning oc'ed to 1.3 GHz (cooled by TwinFrozr), Corsair Force 3 SSD and 8GB's of Corsair Vengeance DDR 3 1600 RAM. If that can't run DCS above at least 40-50 fps I better get myself a new hobby... :joystick:
  3. I waited two months and then got a ticket auto-close message. No answer what so ever. The support leaves a bit to be desired to be honest. This isn't a free-to-play game afterall...
  4. Same thing here...
  5. Never had any issues with frame rate before but I just came back to DCS after the summer and the FPS fluctuations are horrible! And they show up without warning. It is not my system - it is 1.2.6 that suffers from flaws. You find my PC specs below.
  6. It's easy to set up the Remote Server: 1. Download the zip-file from the MSI website 2. Download the app 3. Extract the files in the zip to a location of your choice (doesn't matter where as long as all the extracted files are in the same folder) 4. Run the .exe file 5. Left-click on the RS icon in the system tray to find out on what IP and port the server is listening (if you are behind a router/firewall you may have to forward the port and make a firewall exception). Its the external address you are looking for... 6. Enter the IP+port number in the app in the format x.x.x.x:yy where "yy" is the port number and hit monitor! Note that FPS can't be monitored! But at least to me, temps etc are of much more interest!
  7. If you use the Android/iPhone app you can monitor everything but the FPS. It requires the MSI Afterburner Remote Server to be active on your system though, but its available for free from the MSI website.
  8. I just got my TrackIR 5 today and it's an amazing piece of kit! But it is a bit annoying having to wear a hat indoors (for the reflectors) and I'm thinking of buying the TrackClip Pro accessory. Question is: will it fit on a pair of Turtle Beach X41's? I know the TrackClip fits onto bands 1 1/4" by 1/2" but the X41 design is a bit different than other headsets so I'm still not sure it will fit properly. Does anyone have any experience with this?
  9. The same problem occur when you purchase A-10C from the DCS store. After purchase you are directed to the 1.1.1.1 version and not 1.2.2. At least I was... I had to search for 1.2.2 to find it!
  10. Invest in a SSD drive or at least a hybrid disc! My load time is measured in seconds rather than minutes and I run DCS from a Seagate Momentus Hybrid disc. Also what type of RAM are you using? Im using 8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600.
  11. With my i5 3570K at 4.2 GHz and MSI GTX 680 Lightning OC'ed to 1.3 GHz (the GPU has Twin Frozr II cooling and the CPU is cooled with a Corsair Hydro H100) I have the fps at 60 most of the time flying and approx 40-45 at ground level with everything maxed out. With my current craptastic 21" monitor I run at 1680X1050. I can get occasional frame drops during multiplayer sessions to approx 30-35 fps though. But not very often. Full specs are in my signature with TrackIR 5 on the way... EDIT: FPS above is for A-10C and P-51D
  12. Thanx paulrkii! Thats the one!
  13. Don't have the link right now (at work) but Google "DCS Creating a flight plan" and you will find a step-by-step instruction written by Snoopy in pdf format. Its available somewhere here but I'm on mobile right now. If you can't find it, I'll provide the link later! Cheers! EDIT: As you can see from the link posted above I'm still struggling with it, but the video helped.
  14. Are you referring to runway lights? Because they look fine...
  15. Does this mod still exist and/or work with 1.2.2? I looked in the files section but couldn't find anything...
  16. Feels a bit strange flying at night seeing those lit residential areas and then when you reach the airport it looks abandoned, i.e. no immersion whatsoever! Weird to leave such a feature out when the detail level of the aircraft etc is so high... Not a deal-breaker but still a bit annoying.
  17. How come all airports in DCS World are blacked out at night apart from taxi and runway lights? The light posts are there but still no illumination. Haven't checked all airports but its definatly the case at Tbilisi, Batumi, Sokhi and a few others...
  18. Thanx guys!
  19. Make a playlist, capture it, convert it to .ogg and rename it noise.ogg and put it in your A-10C sound folder. With radios on flip the squelch button and voilá - your favourite music through the headphones. :D
  20. Yay! That video did the trick! Thanx! Another question: if I accidently place a marker point in the wrong spot can I delete it or revert my actions without resetting the CDU? The Snoopy guide that I am referring to in my o.p. in this thread is explaining how to manually enter lat/long coordinates into the CDU and I'm still having trouble entering the waypoint data that way. Does anybody know any video tutorials on this subject? I have googled it with no results...
  21. @Krudnits: do you still have that link by any chance? A-10C has made me feel like a n00b again eventhough I have been flying sims since Falcon 3.0 so all tips, tutorials and general advice is much appreciated!
  22. I'm all in favour of a Aegean/Mediteranean theater and I'll tell you why: I have my flight sim background in FS2004 with my favourite area being the greek islands. I used to have photorealistic scenery and airports. For starters its a beautiful scenery. Secondly its extremly fun navigating from island to island - especially at night. And there are loads of airports, helipads and airfields - both military and civilian! Greece its also a interesting place from a geopolitical standpoint and it wouldn't be hard to come up with a plausible story involving air warfare - with either modern or WW2 aircraft. Eventhough realistic and everything, flying over Afghanistan and Iraq would get kind of tedious after a while. At least in my opinion. Flying low along the dramatic south coast of Crete on the other hand... :pilotfly: Well, the above is just my very subjective opinion! Cheers!
  23. Great! My discs are filling up rapidly so this is wonderful news!
  24. When I purchased A-10C from the DCS online shop I downloaded v. 1.1.1.1 since that was were I was pointed when the transaction was done. I previously had DCS World and P-51D installed since I bought it on disc in december. I then downloaded the 1.2.2 version to include my A-10C in DCS World. Question is: can I safely uninstall 1.1.1.1 to save disc space?
