  1. Actually I've waited for 5.0.0.8 if I recall, which is when in the In-Flight Alignment is finished and allows me to insert the navigation data. And yes I've reloaded all again. :)
  2. Hello everyone, Just a quick curiosity here, I was playing around with the A-10C and decided to go upside-down for a while but a few seconds afterwards both my engines shut down because of my silly idea, so I had to switch on the APU, turn off the Bleed Air and restart them, then do a long In-Flight NAV Alignment. I am well aware that we are not supposed to do anything like that in the A-10 but I'm still curious about what is the technical reason why it happens to the aircraft. Does anybody know why the engines shut down after being upside down for a few seconds? :smartass: Also, did anybody have the A-10 ownship symbol missing from the TAD after a CDU shudown and restart? Happened to me and I couldn't get the ownship symbol back after the Alignment. :noexpression: Thanks
  3. This mod is absolutely stunning, much better visuals now! However, did anybody else get a serious hit on the loading times? With the mod installed my DCS needs about 4 or 5 minutes to start a mission. :(
  4. RAH-66 Comanche :D
  5. @ ericoh: It makes sense, however all the stations had only Maverick Ds, there was no assymetry in the loadout. @ SmokeyTheLung: That's what I was looking for, thanks! Now after firing I just have to use ChnHat aft short until the opposite Maverick station changes from STBY to RDY in the DSMS.
  6. If both stations are selected, all ordnance will be emptied from one station before the plane switches to the next one. For example, if I have 2 stations selected and 2 or 3 Mavericks loaded on each of them, all missiles from the left wing will be fired before any of the missiles of the right wing are selected.
  7. Hello everyone, I was wondering if there's any 'automated' way of firing the Mavericks or dropping bombs that are loaded at the triple rails under the A-10s wings. :smartass: Sometimes I want to fire a few shots in a row, however if I fire 2 Mavericks under the left wing and don't have time to fire the other 2 under the right wing before breaking off the plane becomes very unbalanced. I know trimming it doesn't take long, but still I'd like to know if there's any way to fire one under the left wing and easily, if possible even automatically fire a Maverick from the opposite wing instead of having to fire one, deselect current station on the DSMS, make sure the opposite station is selected, cycle weapon profile on the HUD again and then fire the next one. Does anyone have an idea of how I could do this more efficiently? Thanks
  8. As I understood it's the SU-27SM only, hannibal. :)
  9. Hello everyone, I've been configuring DCS World's default view settings to best fit my TrackIR setup. All good so far. I have almost everything already adjusted when I start the game, the only thing missing is the camera jiggle in both F1, F2, F3 and F6 views. Normally I enable it by pressing Shift+J about 3 or 4 times. ( never understood why I have to press it multiple but it's no biggie :joystick: ) Is there any way have the camera jiggle enabled by default? If so, how can I do that? :) While still on the topic, are there also ways to disable the info bar in all views by default? Thanks
  10. The new ME interface is much better, I can easily set-up day and month. However still no option to set the year though  Maybe there's a way to edit the mission file itself and input the desired year? I'm trying to create missions based on real life operations, date isn't really necessary but it would be a nice touch to see it in the briefing and the CDU :)
  11. Hello everyone, Ultra noob questions here. Before I start on any of the campaigns I'm training how to protect myself from SAMs, so I've created some very simple missions in which I approach a site containing multiple types of SAMs, fire as soon as I get a lock and break off. Until now everything ok except for the fact that I can, until now, snipe many types of SAM with the Maverick D. Before I'm able to lock I'm well within the "danger zone", but they only fire at me when I'm relatively right next to them, specially the SA-8. I've attached two TacView images. The first shows how I crossed radar detection zones, went well inside their firing range, got a lock, fired the missile and was still able to escape without any missile being fired at me. Is it really supposed to be like this? As long as I figure out their locations from far away I can destroy almost all types of air threats? The second image shows how close I had to get to an SA-8 before it actually decided to fire. The only advantage I can think of for waiting to fire at me when I'm so close is that by getting dangerously close the missile won't run out of fuel before reaching me, making my chances of dodging them next to zero. What are the anti-air defences in DCS World that an A-10C loaded with Mavericks cannot get a lock before being fired at? The AI for the SAMs was set to excellent and they were not moving. And I was indeed detected and was being locked on to by all of them before I reached their effective ranges. Thanks
  12. Absolutely incredible! You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to it. :) Thanks for the initiative an keep up the the excellent work!
  13. Hello Rongor, yes the steerpoint is still the correct one, as I mentioned before I even cycle the steerpoints again to make sure the course heading indication doesn't reverse in the Waypoint Attributes page on the CDU.
  14. Hello everyone, I've been having a small but curious issue when navigating in Flight Plan mode. :) If I want to fly precisely over the line to the next steerpoint, I dial the correct course displayed on the waypoint attributes page on the CDU, and the Course Deviation Indicator on the HSI is properly aligned with what is displayed on the TAD until I switch to Mission to verify my recently waypoints that I've added manually or do anything else. Even maintaining the correct path to the next waypoint and flying pretty much exactly on top of the waypoint line displayed on the TAD, once I switch back from Mission to Flight Plan mode, the CDI, which was fine before, is now way off. The correct course is still dialed in the HSI, and yes I've made sure to select the previous steerpoint and then the one I'm flying to again, to make sure the desired course isn't backwards. But still the CDI won't align again with the correct path to the steerpoint, as it was before. :) Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? Thanks
  15. @ KillerSam: Yes I'm aware of that. The reason why I'm training this is because it might happen that I need to attack ground targets with guns and there's no one to take down surrouding helicopters. Does that happen during the campaigns? It shouldn't but I'm preparing for this anyway, hopefully training this saves me one time or another :) @ luza: Tested in 1.2.3 and until now they've been great as AA weapons for me.
  16. Hello everyone, Forgive me for this ultra-noob question and silly report, but still... I was wondering wether or not it's "realistic" to use Mavericks against aerial targets, such as the Black Shark. I'm planning to fly my first mission in a few weeks from now so after learning most of the plane fundamentals I've been practicing many different things, experimenting with all the weapons, trying different tactics and so on, then the time came to practice air to air engagements with the Hog, everything was going pretty well, TGP AA usage, Sidewinder practice, etc. I can somewhat easily take down SU-25s and some helicopters, then I decided to place ground targets surrounding an airfield guarded by 2 KA-50s. I must admit that these Black Sharks got me swearing more than Eminem. Sidewinders are only effective when they don't realize that I shot them and the missile reaches them before they drop flares. If they drop frares the AIM-9s will miss most the time... :noexpression: and since the Sidewinders only get a lock when I'm really close to them they dodge them almost 50% of the time. :helpsmilie: Closing in for guns is pretty tricky. They turn at me and swiss-chesse my Hog until the end of times before I gain enough distance to shot accurately. The only way to avoid that is to fly high, dive and aim at them while coming down at a really steep angle like 20 degrees, but that approach keeps them on my blind spot and when I get to see them I have very little time to aim and after I'm done shooting, missing some tries I always get dangerously close to the ground. :P And that tactic can sometimes cost multiple passes before I succeed. Finding them with the TGP takes a lot of time, distance and fuel to return and do everything again. Then I decided to try the Maverick. Guess what, I can shoot them from far away without they knowing what hit them. :) So far so good, but... the fact that I'm using an air to ground missile and managing to take them down without ever missing ( hasn't happened yet! :D ) doesn't feel right. Are Mavericks in real life capable of tracking down moving helicopters all the way until impact so well? Is it normal to consider it much more effective than Sidewinders for that purpose? Do real Hog pilots do this? Was that ever done? Thanks
  17. Hello everyone, I've been using the TGP for a while now in Air to Ground mode and it works amazingly well, I can easily slew the LOS to the targets and do whatever I need done, however that's not the case while in Air to Air mode. The slew control in AA mode is absolutely horrible, most of the time it feels like it's locked horizontaly, but sometimes it goes up and down with much effort and sometimes I just don't understand why it moves or doesn't in certain directions. :( There were cases that I could have locked on helicopters using the TGP but even seeing them on the MFD I just couldn't point it to them because of the terrible way that the slew behaves, then I would end up just getting too close and missing them. The Axis is the same for AA and AG mode in the controls menu so I have no idea what could be wrong. I am using a TM Warthog. Does that happen to anyone else? Thanks
  18. @ KLR Rico: Yep, I was engaging PAC 1 right when I managed to put the piper reasonably close to the target, then I would carefully place it on top of the target while in PAC 1 and afterwards pull the trigger until the end to fire/PAC2. I did as you suggested as now the PAC seems to work correctly more often, thanks :) However I noticed something else as well, please read below. And yes, all PAC indications on the HUD are displaying correctly. I am using a TM Warthog. :) @ Spetz: No, I don't usually deploy the air brakes during gun runs. =================== I noticed a few things that improved how often I get the PAC to work correctly but I still have a few questions though. As KLR Rico said, engaging PAC 1 only after having the pipper right on top of the target an then firing improved PAC behavior indeed, however I found out that my airspeed severely influences PAC. I noticed that if I shoot while faster than 300 IAS it works great every time even if don't give it time to stabilize and just pull the trigger like there's no tomorrow. However, firing below 250 IAS it doesn't work so well as often as 300, and if I fire close to or below 200 it almost never works correctly. I think it makes sense now, less speed = less airflow which means PAC will need more degrees to trim the plane and it's limit is about 10 degrees if I recall. What bothers me though is that I want to fire and break off as far from the target as possible, and adjusting my aim and firing above 300 IAS gets me close a little too soon if I don't have the target right on the spot when I reach the effective gun range. Sometimes I see videos in which the pilot even deploys the airbrakes to go as slow as possible. Not sure if the PAC works well for them this way or not though. :) Do you guys manage to get PAC to work correctly at slow speeds? Thanks
  19. Hello everyone, I've been doing a bit of target practice and I've noticed that sometimes the gun PAC does an excellent job at holding the gun pipper in place and sometimes it's intervention isn't noticeable, when firing, the nose still goes up and sometimes that causes me to miss the target completely. All of that in the same mission and targets close to each other. I don't know exactly what I should do to keep the PAC at it's best effectiveness at all times. It seems that if I trim the plane to keep the pipper very stable on the target, in a way that it almost feels like the first PAC stage without actually having it triggered, the nose goes up and keeps going up, always. However if I don't trim the plane so precisely and let it dive a little a bit while keeping the pipper on target by compensatng with the stick it works perfectly sometimes only. I have the PAC switch ON at all times, EAC and EGI as well, no issues with them. For the more experienced people around here, is the PAC always effective for you? If so do you know what I could be missing? Thanks
  20. Hello everyone, This is a pretty trivial thing, but still, I'm creating a mission and I would like to know if there is any option to set up the day/month/year in which a custom mission happens. In the A-10 CDU, under the TIME page you can see the date and it's always September 2011. I haven't found any option in the mission editor that allows me to specify the mission date. Does anybody know if it's possible to do it? Thanks
  21. Hello everyone, Whenever I watch a video or read something related to aviation, I always come across somebody saying "drive the plane" and also referring to the pilots as "drivers", for example: "We are Warthog drivers", and so on... but I was always used to saying "fly the plane" and also I never had the habit of referring to a pilot as a "driver". My question is, what are the correct ways of saying that you fly/drive a plane and is a fighter jet pilot/driver? Or are both correct? :) Thanks
  22. Hello everyone, I am interested in replacing the MFCD, CDU, countermeasures display and flood colors from green to a bright cyan-ish blue like I have seen in a few Rafale cockpit pictures, however I have no modding experience apart from skins. Are the display colors based in RGB code lines or texture channels? If so, does anybody know where to find the sources of the colors? I would like to achieve something like this: Thanks in advance
  23. Hello everyone, I've been trying to convert a few track files into uncompressed AVI video, however I'm having a slightly unusual problem, some tracks would record successfully while other wouldn't, DCS would crash before it started recording and would go back into Mission Editor. I've spent two evenings trying to figure out the differences of each track and eventually after lots of trials and crashes I figured out that simply by enabling clouds in the missions the Record AVI tool crashes, if I disable them it records normally. Can anybody else try this and see if the same thing happens? Or does anybody have any solution for this? Here are my specs relevant to the game, if the game isn't the problem. Windows 7 64bit DCS 1.2.2 + FC3 and A-10C modules GeForce GTX 570 12GB DDR3 RAM Thanks
  24. Hello everyone, I'm planning to make a short DCS World video, however the camera controls available are too standard, just rotating around planes and moving the camera itself closer or farther from the plane or other objects won't give me what I need to record some nice scenes, apart from the fly-by and chase cameras. I've played with all the available keyboard commands but I still can't get certain things done. Is it possible to simply "zoom in or out" the external cameras? By zooming I mean an actual zoom, not just moving the camera towards the plane and having everything distorted, such as a huge F-15 nose in front of you and tiny little wings on the back. :noexpression: Is it possible to "pan" the camera ( not sure if this is the correct definition of what I want to do ), like smoothly sliding the camera left or right without keeping the look-at point centered at the center of the plane's airframe? Here are a few examples showing what I want do exactly, this video was recorded in Lock On, in between these marks the camera is smoothly panning to the side while you see the planes, but the look-at point is clearly not aimed at the planes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDHQjTxDRYk 02:30 to 02:55 04:15 to 04:20 04:40 to 04:50 If anybody knows how to zoom in and do these moves please tell me :) Thanks in advance
  25. Force Feedback off and now I can trim the plane flawlessly. Thanks! :)
