Awesome, once it's finished please post some screens of the new 6DOF cockpit of the MiG-29 please! :D

Yep, I just fell for this  :D

Are you guys downloading the actual 1.2.8 or just an updated 1.2.7? I can't check that myself just yet. :)

1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
eFirehawk replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Is anyone else here extremely anxious to see that the SU-25T 6DOF cockpit looks like? :D ( and I'm not talking about those early WIP pics ) I know the patch will be released Soon™ :), but some screens of that cockpit before the patch would be very nice :P ...that's just me lacking self control though, nevermind my anxiety  Thanks Wags! -
Who here wouldn't want be totally immersed into the virtual reality of Farmville once someone sends one of those annoyingly frequent requests?

I do believe that they are considering revamping the map and including Crimea again. If they are really going to release the F-18C with carrier ops ( would be a bit silly if they don't ) it would be difficult to make a carrier reach Las Vegas, so EDGE needs a map with a coastline built with today's standards. Crimea would be easier to do for them I believe. I really don't want it though... after more than a decade I've really had enough of the Black Sea coastlines. :(

Thanks for the screenshots Wags! But one thing though... at least for now appart from a batter haze and softer shadows I didn't notice that much of a difference really, but it could be because of the old map. Clouds and lack of shadows on the mountains are the same I believe since it's still WIP. Anyway, keep it coming!

Doin' good can't complain.

This is no McDonalds but I'm lovin' it. :D

Yes, I'd like to see some images of how it was before, just out of curiosity, and also to see if they look any different from pretty much anywhere along the Georgian map coast. The current map for me is quite bland and looks the same wherever you are.

Does anyone have screenshots of the removed map areas? Just curious here... :)

I've said this a few times before if I recall, that it doesn't matter what's happening or the reasons why progress is not being done/shown, if it's something from ED's part or RRG's part. It is not ok to leave people who inversted their money in the dark. Even though some people stated that even interacting with the community the developers would end up flooded with questions and answer-hungry kids, it's still better to show that you are active in the project and that you care about the people who, again, trusted you with their money. Even if there's no actual progress to show, just by saying a few things about the project in a regular basis you are already giving the community attention. Showing that you're still around regulary to the people who invested money in you and avoid making them feel uneasy IS a necessary part of development, a very important part, to say the least.

Who's in charge of the project now? Cobra and Dolphin? Since Cobra is doing so many postings I've began to wonder about that.

There's no need to reclaim anything. First, LS stated that they will give access to the plane for the original backers, and also from what I've read here is that the money from the campaign was used in the development of the module, nobody took money and ran away. And you will still get the plane :)
-
Yes, I agree completely. It's one of those situations that no matter what you choose one side or another will take a hit. What I meant is the fact that he went away without statemens, especially when the people who could have been affected such as the IndieGoGo backers (who trusted him, his name, his image) are left without info from Laszlo himself, the creator of the campaign and responsible for it, who just vanished. This silence, even though perfectly justifiable, does give a bit of an undesirable image. Good thing that LS will take responsibility for this by giving the plane to the original backers, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was Laszlo himself who suggested this.

Side-effects of lack of information I believe. He simply stopped posting, now the team shows up without him, and the details that could clear up things a little bit are all held private. And as far I know he didn't show up at all to say anything again (why? o_O). I myself do not think at all that he took any negative actions, especially considering what you said, I feel sorry for him, given the fact you know more about what's going on than we do, but his image, however based on what I wrote above, does give that negative impression, some people's reaction towards this is understandable in this situation in my opinion.
-
Agreed. I think it's fair to even ask for one. Considering he was the one responsible for the IndieGogo campaign. ...and OMG what's with that new stuido name:helpsmilie: :megalol:
-
@ Flagrum: I agree. As we know though, funding projects like these are always a risk, as many of the people who make those campaigns are not huge companies with much to lose as far as I know, most, such as Beczl don't even have an extensive background in business, so the chances of something like this happening are not as small as we would want. :) ...and by the way, what's with that new studio name!? OMG :helpsmilie: Looking forward to flying the MiG! :pilotfly:

I agree. And to be honest I find it quite strange that instead of putting up somewhere an official announcement stating that there are ongoing issues with the team and progress will be halted until further news, the forum was hidden out of nowhere, and a few project members are coming to some topic in a chit-chat section and giving some unclear answers to some questions. But in the end I'm willing to buy the module anyway, it's understandable that when we are dealing with people we can't avoid a few senseless situations once in a while. :)

There's been a quite long discussion about that in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117686&page=2 If wonder if anything will be done about that though.

Maybe because Complexity happened? :) A simulator made in today's standards is already hard enough and extensive to do as it is, as considering that it's a niche market the teams are small and there isn't so much money around to start big projects. Ya know, back then games and even the simulators were still very simple, escpecially when you compare them to something like DCS. You could make many of them relatively quickly and with small teams. And I don't think people today want sims with the simplicity that they had in the past.

What I think is not the same as most of the people out there, but still... hopefully it might be interesting to someone... well, to me, I think that the MiG-21 is a very ugly airplane, no advanced avionics such as an A-10C or F-15E in the version represented in the module ( operating complicated systems is what makes it fun for me ), you know, it's too old and... Russian cockpits feel really weird to me. But... guess what? If this comes out I will purchase it and spend months learning it and flying it countless hours, simply because the quality of this module seems to be so good that anyone with a strong interest in aviation in general will be more than happy to take it out for a spin and learn all about it. There are many people out there who love the MiG-21 and also people like me who would give anything to have fun learning how to operate any military aircraft being represented with such accuracy and a beautifully modeled and immersive cockpit. I've never thought that, me, a guy who really couldn't care less about MiG-21s would feel worried with this situation, because I really want this module to come out and buy it :noexpression: I believe this module has a great sales expectation in this community, in the end it has to come out.
