  1. Well, at least in my opinion, what is most important in a study level sim of any military aircraft is how "plausible" it feels to learn and use all of the plane's systems. Since I've never flown an A-10C I'll never know what's not accurate and what classified stuff is missing there, but those 700 pages of complex and detailed systems really make me feel like I am dealing with something that is, to say the least, reasonable and "feels" realistic. :joystick: As long as the F-35 reaches a level of "complexity" close to the A-10 and having FCS that is a somewhat close idea of what the real thing is, then it's ok I guess as long as it's not something which is overly simplified that won't give us a lot of enjoyable learning time and the rewarding feeling of mastering a complex piece of flying equipment :) Just a personal thing of myself though, even if the F-35 becomes a proper DCS module I wouldn't buy it.... simply because I don't like the F-35 at all. I can't really get used to the idea of a big flatscreen TV in front of me without a HUD on top it and no gauges anywhere, inside a plane that looks pretty ugly and as far as what I've read, is not as fast or as agile as other fighters that came out decades ago. :pilotfly:
  2. Please do :) @ RICARDO: Thank you so much for the mod!!!
  3. Hello everyone, Just wondering if more people realized the way I did how good it is the fact that DCS gives us a somewhat decent freedom to adjust several different aspects of the game if we are bothered to dive down into the config files and potentially adjust way more stuff than the in-game options allow us to. :) I play both flight games dating back to the old Microsoft F-19 ( that ultra high-pitched engine noise would drive my mom crazy ) and racing simulators. That are many other games that I like, however they are very limited when it comes to fiddling with their parameters, and very simple adjustments could make them even better in many ways, but sadly that's not always a possibility. As much as I love DCS A-10C "out of the box" more than broccoli ( ), with the graphical adjustments, view mods, and many others my own 'DCS A-10C customized edition' for me is at least twice as good. For example, the "Reworked cockpit views with proper neck" mod is actually spoiling my experience with other games to an unbelievable level :D Moving the look-at point of the camera without the "natural feel" of it in DCS and also in other games it feels just as bad as not having TrackIR. :joystick: And of course there are many other little important mods for me as well. Another game that I also enjoy mostly because of the customizability which is somewhat similar to DCS is Image Space Incorporated's rFactor, a racing simulator. Within the .ini files I can even adjust how many degrees the steering-wheel in the cockpit of the car rotates in relation to the input of my own steering wheel controller, and simple things such as this are what makes the difference. In every other racing games developed by bigger companies ( which are nowhere near as friendly to customize ) I always feel ultra-weird when I'm turning my steering wheel 900 degrees and in the 3D cockpit the driver merely gives it a pull, doesn't matter if it's a street Corvette that should rotate it's steering wheel around 1050 degrees. :joystick: And then again, this is just a small example among many others I could write here. Does anyone else also feel like this? :) Have you ever been able to hugely enhance your in-game experience either in DCS or other games only by using simple mods or adjust some parameters in a config file?
  4. Could somebody please clarify what that means exactly? Does that mean that the development of DCS: F/A-18C has not actually started yet? I believe I read a few times before that the F/A-18C was already being developed. :noexpression:
  5. New!?   Awesome job as always Ricardo!!
  6. The sweetest of all my dreams when it comes to DCS would be an F-117 module :) I hardly believe it's possible to make it in study sim level though, since details regarding the plane are still confidential.
  7. Thank you Erforce!! :) Replacing this file solved the crashing problem indeed. I believe it was because I was using the longer smoke trails mod. Unfortunately it's sad that the new smoke of destroyed objects is so short, I cannot notice them very well from the distance anymore... but oh well. :noexpression:
  8. I dream of a DCS F-15C... :joystick: and an F/A-18C... :pilotfly:wait... they're really coming!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D
  9. Esac_mirmidon, could you please post the stock v.1.2.4 Firevehicle.lua file here? I had mine replaced with an older version from v1.2.3 and I don't have a backup of the original file which comes with the v.1.2.4 version. I believe that if I force a DCS repair I will lose all the other mods I have installed and configured properly.
  10. What mods are you using? I'm having persistent crashes with the A-10C now as well after the 1.2.4 update, I believe it could be one mod or another that is causing the crash, since I have many installed.
  11. Another "little modification" that becomes a must-have. :) Thanks!
  12. I couldn't agree more  Thanks PeterP!
  13. Hello everyone :) This has been bugging me for a while so I decided to ask if anybody has any idea of a possible solution. I like to have the option "Head movements by G-Force in cockpit" enabled, it might not be perfect but I still like it very much, it feels much more natural to fly with it activated than having the eye position 100% stuck in the same place no matter what you do :D, but there's a small problem: when flying, specially in the F-15C, if I pull a high G turn, the head eyepoint sinks down too much, during a close range dogfight I feel more worried about banging my head in the IFF panel below the HUD and havig my jaw cracking the ADI ( I exaggerated a bit but it still kinda feels that way ) than actually being shot down by the enemy aircraft :joystick: I can only see the compass line at the top of the HUD when pulling a tight turn. I don't think a pilot's neck would ever be compressed downwards that much like this. Considering that the camera parameters in DCS are very customizable, does anybody have any idea if it's possible to "limit" how much the eyepoint sinks down with the G force movements enabled? I've found parameters to adjust the Camera Jiggle effects but the Shift+J camera jiggle has nothing to do with this. :) Thanks
  14. Thank you lnr212 and Kuky, now I've been able to get everything fixed :)
  15. Can somebody post a stock v.1.2.4 Server.lua file here please? I had mine replaced with a backup from v.1.2.3 but it seems that the files changed significantly since mine doesn't have any of those paramenters. :helpsmilie:
  16. Update crapped up my HUDs in all planes, now it's waaaaaaaaaaaay to big. Except in the A-10C which I replaced with a MOD called Proper Neck.
  17. I've been using this mod for the A-10C for some time now and now I just can't play the game without it anymore! It's THAT good!! Thank you so much PeterP! :joystick: Just a question though, previously in v1.2.3 it was working perfectly in the F-15C cockpit as well, now all aircraft, except for the A-10C have a very weird HUD zoom which doesn't allow me to do anything really, and the zoom also looks strange from some angles in the cockpit, specially when looking at 4 or 8 o'clock. Does anyone know how I can get the other cockpit views to work as well as it does in the A-10C, working in v1.2.4?
  18. Just to let you guys know, I've found out why my loading times increased so much after I installed the mod. I had another mod installed before I tried the Smaller Sun mod, the DCS World Spec/Land Lighting Mod. It seems that these two while used at the same time hugely increases the loading times for some reason. It's quite a shame because I really liked the stronger highlights with the spec mod is on... but I had to prioritize the sun mod since I felt my mental sanity was beginning to be taken away from me when I tried to look at the HUD just to witness a huge blown out flash
  19. Sure, I'm at a work break right now but as soon as I get home I'll take a look at the file and edit this post with the info, unless someone else posts it first :)
  20. I have the labels enabled as well, however I've edited the Labels.lua file to display all of them in black color showing only an =x= instead of complete information regarding the objects, such as name and range. :) I gree that it copromises a bit of the realism of the simulation, but given the fact that the resolution of our monitors and lack of spatial sense we can take longer to spot and lose track of moving aerial moving targets easier than in real life, so I believe it's actually quite fair to enable them as long as you don't get all the detailed info that they show.
  21. Even though it's taking long to see the Huey released, all the fuss about it and all the jokes are just priceless :megalol::megalol::megalol:
  22. Indeed it was a bug, I tried to do it again 3 times to take a screenshot and post the track... :joystick: But the ownship symbol didn't go missing anymore :P
  23. Actually I've waited for 5.0.0.8 if I recall, which is when in the In-Flight Alignment is finished and allows me to insert the navigation data. And yes I've reloaded all again. :)
  24. Hello everyone, Just a quick curiosity here, I was playing around with the A-10C and decided to go upside-down for a while but a few seconds afterwards both my engines shut down because of my silly idea, so I had to switch on the APU, turn off the Bleed Air and restart them, then do a long In-Flight NAV Alignment. I am well aware that we are not supposed to do anything like that in the A-10 but I'm still curious about what is the technical reason why it happens to the aircraft. Does anybody know why the engines shut down after being upside down for a few seconds? :smartass: Also, did anybody have the A-10 ownship symbol missing from the TAD after a CDU shudown and restart? Happened to me and I couldn't get the ownship symbol back after the Alignment. :noexpression: Thanks
  25. This mod is absolutely stunning, much better visuals now! However, did anybody else get a serious hit on the loading times? With the mod installed my DCS needs about 4 or 5 minutes to start a mission. :(
