  1. +1 Been working on the mission editor its pretty easy to use. For the CA forces anyway. Cant get my fast movers to bomb Targets though I am in the process of making a simplistic mission. Play tested it yesterday It worked quite well. I simply used one of the default missions added and subtracted what I wanted. CA works well as a RTS
  2. As a red coat I object to this post. But as a complete cheapskate mail sent. LoL
  3. Me and the guys are only starting to experiment with CA and the whole CAS Operations side to DCS. your AAR made for a good read. thanks
  4. I have owned CA for a while. I have been critical of it in the past. My Bad I was expecting to much As a life long armour simmer I expected all the bells and whistles I Considered necessary for a Tank simulation. And have to say I was very Disappointed when I first purchased it and shelved it till recently. Till a few members from a VU I am a member of decided to run DCS Using the various modules we had purchased . I Focused on CA while the Others were in Su-25 KA-50 . And I have to say we really enjoyed it It really does come to fruition in MP game play I could make a very long list Of what it would need to be a Tank sim but used for what it was designed for Its worth the money I would hope ED would make a few Improvements like dynamic lead for the FCS. Better ballistics etc if they do it has the makings of a pretty decent stand alone Tank sim
  5. I would speculate the Leatherneck team would only be to happy if it was Released today, And see some revenue pour through there coffers.
  6. I have to say I agree with you. The team that make Steel beasts wont release information screen shoots or Anything else to there very near release. I know very little about how you make a computer sim but I do know one Thing. Theres nearly always a delay.
  7. Cobra847. You have my utter admiration sir. No mater what the out come you gave it your all Most people cant go a month with out there salary. I really hope and believe you will prosper for your commitment to this project When it is releases go out get drunk sober up and drink some more you have earned it.LoL
  8. I beg to differ, Check the video Not me flying unfortunately. LoL
  9. Because its good. Thanks flare2000x
  10. I Agree with your statements. I think one of the ways ED could bring in some extra revenue is levee a Small one off charge for the DCS world environment something around ten Euro/dollars is not unreasonable. Many will disagree with this statement But the way I look at it is the money will be used to improve DCS world. There's only a handful of milsim development teams left in the market So true enthusiasts should support them
  11. I figured about 200k would be a reasonable assumption when I started the Thread. At around fifty Dollars/euro for a new release I can now see why ED Made a partnership with steam.
  12. Totally agree A large percentage of people in the milsim business do what they do for the love of it I have spoken to a few developers artists and Milsims are there great passion. I have posted on this subject before, but I truly believe cross Platform development Is the key to profitability. Look at all the big game titles like medal of honour Assassins creed. There on all platforms and systems.

    Release??

Post like the above always remind me of this LoL Truth is I am as bad, I had a argument with a beta tester on another forum Whilst waiting what seemed to be an eternity for a update that was delayed. Its funny Milsims tend to attract older better educated costumers. but behind it all, a lot of us are just big kids Who just cant wait for Santa to arrive, Personally I think that's part of the fun waiting for a update or new release. I am starting to check this forum twice Daly for information on the release. Some thing to keep in mind when it is released. LoL ,
  14. I guess a guy in his bedroom days are well and truly over. I wonder what type of hardware would be required I recon an off the self 500 euro/dollar machine would not cut it. LoL my friend who works in the Industry spent something like eight thousand just on his machine with out The other equipment he purchased. there are some excellent software packages he said that help reduce the time it takes to produce a 3D model
  15. Its guys like you Cobra that will keep the Milsim market alive I have no idea what the mig-21 will be like, but all the indications are you And your team have done a outstanding job you certainly deserve to reap financial reward for your work. And I for one will be purchasing it.
  16. Totally agree if you want to make money design something like candy crush I don't think you will get rich making misims unless you have lucrative military contracts. I have nothing but respect for the guys that do it. As i have previously stated the DCS business model may be the only way We see quality aircraft simulations in the future.
  17. I voted yes for more integration of vehicle types Its some thing I have looked in to and I am afraid its more of a case of Easier said then done. Unfortunately the milsim market is not big enough For the huge costs that would be involved. The best we can hope for is they Fix CA or even let a third party developer make new armour modules for DCS world. IMO
  18. But as far as I am aware its the only engine that allows different development houses to share the one Environment. thus allowing small or even start up Firms access to the milsim market.
  19. According to a guy I know who works as a 3D model designer for A milsim company That's also a niche market. Its about twenty five thousand for a model it takes about six weeks for a exterior model only if you want a fully modelled clickable Turret/cockpit you could add a substantial amount to that. But the company in question has military contracts to subsidise the costs. What I like about the DCS business model is the firm making the proposed Module does not have to worry about the whole game engine its all there for Them. I would assume there is a cost for using the DCS world environment But could you imagine trying to built something like the DCS world Environment from scratch the cost would be immense.
  20. I would like to think it would be still possible for a team of guys with the Skills to develop a module with out a big budget . back in the earlier days Of Game development some classic games we made this way.
  21. I am not looking to make a module or I am I looking for specific Confidential Information about a particular Module. I realise its a very open ended question how long is a piece of string etc. I have always been interested in all aspects of computer simulation design It really does fascinate me. The other day I read an article about the cost of console games, some went in to the tens of millions. It made me wonder how much a DCS module would cost as the engine is provided by ED you would Then just have to focus on your chosen plane tank heli etc. I would assume there would be a massive saving just on that alone What DSC/ED has done with the modular concept is nothing short of genius IMO.
  22. I am not a flight Sim guy ,but I am going to purchase this module because I have always liked the mig-21 and the latest video has really Wetted my appetite for it. I have done a little research but it would be interesting to see what you flight Sim types think about the real world combat record of this magnificent Flying machine. And what planes currently modelled in DCS would make a Good match up For the mig. Ps, Flight Sims are cool, But Armour Sims rule. LoL
  23. And what is wrong with having a choice. There are many fans of ground warfare out there, looking for a good WW2 Tank Sim, Think of the possibilities having a ground and Air sim mission on the same map at the same time. DCS have yet to make it work with CA but It would be a lot less complex a task in a WW2 environment. Less sophisticated AAA etc. With a WW2 armour element to the new version It would bring a whole new level of dynamic environment to DCS. DCS is the best Air warfare sim on the market, But its ground warfare element needs improving
  24. Nice video, Hermdahl. Really enjoyed it
  25. Hi Will there be a detailed tutorial with the module. As things stand I have never really been a flight sim guy . I have very little flight time and do not consider my self flight trained Messed around with SU 25. I have been looking for a new challenge figured I would give this module a Go as I like the mig21 What's the learning curve going to be like will it be to much for a complete Newbie. And is anybody considering setting up a VU focusing on the mig 21.
