Well Yes... Looking at the track wrt to control inputs (viewed from the outside), I'm surprised that a left wing stall condition did not occur.. that's all.
-
So you agree.. it's a teeny weeny bit of touch of rudder...
-
Don't wind yourself up... I think this sim is way better than IL2... just that the FM doesn't look right in certain scenarios, and question it. Without getting into how more advanced anything is more than the other which I doubt you be able to prove anyway - as 1C nor DCS are going to expose their models. Talk about IL2 fan boys.. are you not doing the same with DCS
-
That's a screeny from the jcomm's track, showing the elevator and rudder positions.. besides full flaps and wheelies
-
Remember that IL2 is based on prop a/c and Oleg's slow speed modelling is fairly good, compared this example. DCS is new into prop a/c with the P51, and one should use examples where available. I would like to see this Sim continue where IL2/Clod lost it. Full of it.. sure.. but always open to suggestions or correction

What causes the yawing tendency with change in power settings?
Der_Fred replied to JozMk.II's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
It's actually all the forces, to varying degrees. You have to think in 3D with each change of control that you apply. Simple example: If you pull back on the stick. => Higher AOA = More drag = You slow down = more Propwash and torque effects = more yaw ... dah dah dah.. you stall and spin. -
Post your computer specs before you do anything drastic !
-
Nah.. the FM is wrong here.. this is why I mentioned the spin problem. I mean you have full flaps, left rudder.. engine going nuts.. and it wants to yaw right --- really!! How about a plain hard left yaw, drop left wing, and nose into the ground. This is a Sim with potential, but they must take a few notes from Olegs IL2 wrt FMs on prop aircraft.. seriously

.. the AI chickens out, when he's had enough - puts on his 'christmas tree' and tries to bug out. He certainly shows you no mercy when he's on top. We (I :) ) would like a 'Samurai AI'.. who fights till the end.. thank you..
-
Are these holes just for good looks, or are they representative of shell hits... as that pilot should be leaking badly edt: How about an option for 'tomato juice'
-
Ah.. OK, sorry I thought you were talking wrt the P51 - My bad!
-
Hand over the code and I'll do it..

I understand the Torque, Yaw and Prop-wash effects, but these, I think, should not be that significant at around 250 mph/knots on a right spin. It just seems sooo slow even on the left spin. There were WW2 vets talking about a snap roll (opposite rudder to the turn)... It's difficult to perform this at the moment. Kwiatek . .I think you might want to re-read what you've written, I think you've mixed up your direction of spin.

One can create simple planar objects (horizontally and vertically) that represents the cloud, but is not visible and follows the cloud around. 'Viewing collision' is calculated on these objects. They can be very imprecise to help speed up calcs, but at least it would go someway to making this part a leetle more realistic :) Here's a simple pic presentation A cannot see B as there's a collision at C A can see C
-
In IL2 they've resolved this problem. I'd imagine they're using 'vector vision' for the AI (DCS), as when looking at the replay the AI lines up with me when I cannot even see myself, from the AI's POV. A simple ray trace with 'collision detection' with clouds would resolve this problem. :)

Depends how far the spin has developed, there is a point, beyond which, where you have to execute recovery procedure to get it out of the spin. When I was training (in the dark ages :) ) we'd do forced spins, and it didn't take much to push a docile plane into a spin, and this plane could recover from a spin without any input. So Ja... this part and the accelerated stalls should be seen to. :)
-
Here's a quick demonstration track. On first spin attempt.. I pull hard on the stick (100%) and kick right rudder (100%) and hold it there. The plane refuses to spin. Where as kicking left rudder it reluctantly goes into a spin ?? AFAIK.. aircraft like these should eagerly go into a spin with such control input? Any comments on this. NoStalling.trk

And.... another, and another.. and another... This is now getting enjoyable... I must remember how to open the canopy - wot a nooob A Friendly Match.trk Bob.trk

Finally... Got that horrid little buzzard. If he thought he was going to run away.. he thought WRONG He was going down.... Mind you.. this is without pedals.. not too bad whoot.trk

Ah! there it is... Thanks -
Updated to 123.. How to get my P51 back ?
Der_Fred replied to Der_Fred's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Where does one download.. the E-Shop wants me to dump it in my cart for another 39USDs ?? The problems seems I d/l the complete new version and installed that.. which kindly bombed everything. Now I'm at this point. -
You should be able to see a P51 size a/c up to 30kms away, depending on it's colours, angle and background. Getting closer sighting improves, but at 10 kms you must be blind not to see anything (but this also depends much less on the 3 points previously mentioned). In IL2 a distant aircraft becomes a dot, with the colour slightly different to the background. As the dot gets closer it gets darker - more visible, and visa versa

How does one get a purchased module back with every update (theeez is annoying !!). I tried a direct folder transfer from the previous version.. but that doesn't work. Do I have to go through a whole schlepp! Thanks for any help
-
Program abort.. not bad!.. better than a crash. After installing the new version in a different folder (it wouldn't overwrite the previous installation) .. it bombed and when i tried to play the previous version I ended up with the same scenario.. wow ! I think Eagle/DCS should take a few notes from IL2 installations and patches - might learn something.
