Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
Psyrixx replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Exactly my opinion. If I didn't have the $50 to spend on it or if money was tight I would not have purchased it at full price; however, I had the money and don't much care that it's on sale already except that it will enable more pilots to join me in the skies. Which is always a good thing. :D -

Can anyone post the full newsletter to the forum? Perhaps make a new thread for it? I don't know how to sign up for it myself but am always interested in them. Thanks in advance! -

I'm a prime client and I'm not mad or even slightly upset. $50 every 6 months to a year for a new aircraft is not a big deal to me. And if people who can't afford $50 can pick it up shortly thereafter for a price they can afford then that's awesome! The more people flying around the better. IN FACT a friend of mine and I were laughing when we bought the module full price because we figured it would be on sale the very next week. Instead it took two weeks. We still don't care. :P -

I haven't lost any confidence in BST and will by their next module at full price as soon as it goes into beta as well. The sales were great when I didn't own everything but now that I do (and have even purchased the stand alone A-10A and Su-25 in addition to owning FC3 and will pick up the Su27 and F-15 when they become individual modules to simplify my Steam install) I have no problem throwing full price down on quality products. The $50 is not a big deal and when it goes on sale people who cannot afford to throw money at things can pick them up as well. Makes no difference to me one way or the other. -

DCS World v1.2.6 | Su-25/Su-25T Gunpods | PROGR Not Working
Psyrixx replied to Psyrixx's topic in Su-25T Issues
As stated in my original post: 7 - A2G Mode LCtrl + Space - switch x2 ripple OR x4 ripple, setting makes no difference RShft + O - laser on Space - Trigger No locking LShft + C - Switch Gun Cut Burst Off Space - Trigger No locking I have only been testing in multiplayer (with my machine as host), it is possible the bug is multiplayer only. Will test again today in an instant mission or single player and see if it is still broken. As stated in my original post, the PROGR dial on the front panel switches correctly to the PROGR setting, the gun simply does not lock/track the ground/target that is being lased, the guns continue to strafe along with the forward motion of the plane. -
DCS World v1.2.6 | Su-25/Su-25T Gunpods | PROGR Not Working
Psyrixx replied to Psyrixx's topic in Su-25T Issues
I've tried it with both cut off burst and full auto and neither setting keeps the barrels on target. -
Haven't seen this posted yet. Flying the Su-25 or the Su-25T and mounted 4xGunPods. Selecting the gun pods (ripple x2 or ripple x4) and then activating the laser should set the gun pods into PROGR mode, where the pods will fire a burst of gunfire at the same spot on the ground for the duration of the trigger pull or the length of the set salvo. The dial on the weapons panel correctly selects PROGR mode, but the PROGR mode does not seem to lock the guns to the ground when the trigger is pulled. Tested with Ripple set to x2 and x4 with no difference. Does not matter if I am within engagement range or outside of engagement range. Does not matter if the guns are set to fire a set salvo or set to fire for duration of trigger pull. Gun Pods DO slave vertically to a locked point/target in the Shkval in the Su-25T. The behavior is identical in both the Su-25 and Su-25T. :pilotfly:

WTH happened to the load times?
Psyrixx replied to ScottishMartialArts's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I have DCS: World v1.2.6 and my load times are under half a minute. Every module is installed in both the Standalone *and* Steam versions. i5 @ 4.2GHz 32GB RAM (for work) GTX 670 2GB 2xSSD in RAID 0 as my system/games drive. -
I'm sure this has already been reported but just posting it again to make sure (can't find it after searching). I've got both Steam and Standalone installed and in Standalone I have FC3 while in Steam I have the A-10A and Su25 modules. Hosting up a map that has slots for Su33 and F-15 and joining those slots in Steam version (where the modules rightly don't exist and I haven't tried hacking FC3 into my Steam install) the game spawns the requested plane but puts me in F2 view, the plane is then flown by an AI pilot named "Psyrixx". I can do this multiple times spawning several AI controlled aircraft. Was pretty funny! I realize that I can't fly the FC3 planes in Steam yet since the modules aren't out yet (or I could try hacking it in but whatever, I have the standalone version installed just fine if I have a real hankering for a fast mover) but I would expect the game to tell me "Sorry! You don't have F-15 installed!" rather than spawn an AI controlled craft. =) So just pointing it out in case it has been overlooked. It's really not a huge deal at all. ^_^

The default "zoomed out" view in the A-10A is 3x zoom and when you zoom in one level you are at 6x zoom. The A-10C macericks work exactly the same way when looking through the macerick's optical sensor but the A-10C has the advantage of being able to find and designate targets using its TGP and then slave the maverick seeker optic to that point. The TGP has two FOV's as well as a huge range of zoom inside each FOV while the maverick optical sensor does not allow the fine control within the various FOV zoom levels. Most people in A-10C use the TGP to find and designate targets due to the high level of optical flexibility and then they slave the maverick optic to what the TGP is looking at. Makes it MUCH easier to engage targets from a distance. The A-10A is not able to mount a TGP as the airframe did not support it.

Did you install DCS: World from the DCS site before installing the A-10C module? You should install DCS: World, then install the A-10C module and enter the serial number. If the serial number does not work, you should submit a support ticket to Eagle Dynamics. Hope this helps!

Craptakular, I recommend you give my YouTube tutorial series a watch. It should give you a good primer on all the aircraft basics. It is specifically tailored towards the Su-25T, but many of the aircraft basics will apply to all aircraft. It covers start up, aircraft navigation (how to find which runway to taxi to, etc), takeoff, flight and navigation, aircraft trim and landing.
-
Correct. As stated in my first post. :) And if they get re-released as individual aircraft with AFM I'll have no problem justifying their purchase. Personally I only fly the F-15 but I'll purchase the A-10A, Su27 and Su25A just for completion. I'd probably pick up the Su33 if it were offered at some point, but I don't really have any interest in the MIGs. I hear they have a problem with their inverted flight tanks and can't do a negative-G pushover. ;) :joystick:
-
Precisely. I wasn't going into the details of how to integrate FC3 into Steam DCS:W just that if you really wanted FC3 in the Steam version that it was a possible solution. Personally I'll just re-purchase the aircraft through Steam as they become available. $15-$20 every several months is not a huge price to pay for complete freedom from Ubisoft and the conveniences offered by the Steam platform, plus I think it's a fair price to upgrade to FC3 AFM (even though it is being given for free through patching, I'd rather support the developers somehow and this is a great way to do just that). Of course, that's just me. :)

As of this moment, if you purchased Flaming Cliffs 3 you *must* have either Lock On or one of the previous Flaming Cliffs games installed in order to install Flaming Cliffs 3. This is a licensing requirement that Eagle Dynamics has with Ubisoft as they published the previous FC games through Ubisoft. This will never change unless Ubisoft decides to release Eagle Dynamics from this licensing contract (which very likely will absolutely never happen). To get around this problem, Eagle Dynamics is releasing at least four of the current FC3 modules as stand alone aircraft for DCS World so that people can purchase and install them without needing to worry about the Ubisoft licensing. Each new module has its own new serial number for activation. The logistics of issuing every person who purchased Flaming Cliffs 3 with brand new serial numbers for each of the new modules that have been released would be an absolute nightmare. So it's not going to happen. You can either continue to hack FC3 in to your Steam install or you can just keep using the Eagle Dynamics website install of DCS World to play Flaming Cliffs 3. Both of these work arounds will work for free and probably forever. Or to simplify matters, just purchase the FC3 airframes that you fly via Steam as they become available. This will create a new licensing agreement between you and Eagle Dynamics without Ubisoft involved and it will also directly support the developers instead of Ubisoft getting a cut of the purchase price. To my knowledge, only the Su25A, A-10A, F-15C and Su27 will be available as stand alone modules anyways. If you wanted to fly the other FC3 aircraft that are available you'd have to hack FC3 in anyways. The UH-1H will be available via Steam (and the current keys should transfer over just fine) once it is out of beta and considered a release version module.

All of the modules come with the base DCS: World game, that is to say all of the plane models exist in the game whether you own the modules or not. The modules themselves mostly consist of the flight models for the planes as well as sound effects, interior cockpit assets and single player missions. So in theory all you need to host a server is the base DCS: World game. You could host any mission you wanted on the server, but you'd only be able to fly planes that you had activated on your client computer. Anyone else could, of course, fly in any of the other modules in a hosted mission that they had activated on their computers.

steam and ED DCS World reg key's
Psyrixx replied to 71st_Mastiff's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
This is precisely the attitude to have. Stand alone DCS: World and the module manager are pretty slick by themselves and if you don't want to re-purchase modules you don't have to. Otherwise you could justify it as saying "hey, it's only $15-$20 per module, the modules aren't going to be released all at the same time so I'll just consolidate them on Steam as they become available and it won't be a huge up front cost. As a bonus, I get to support the developers." Eagle Dynamics has gone above and beyond anything they needed to do for us, and for that I'm grateful. -
steam and ED DCS World reg key's
Psyrixx replied to 71st_Mastiff's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
If Flaming Cliffs 3 is using assets were created while Eagle Dynamics was under contract with Ubisoft, it means Ubisoft owns those assets, not Eagle Dynamics. For every copy of Flaming Cliffs 3 that Eagle Dynamics sells, they owe Ubisoft a royalty on the assets used, unless the PC it is being installed on already owns a licensed copy of Lock On or Flaming Cliffs as the user has already paid that licensing fee for Eagle Dynamics. The newer modules being released on Steam can be assumed to be cross-content free, since they are using the DCS World engine and have at this point replaced all content assets that were shared when Ubisoft was involved back with Lock On. -

Psyrixx replied to 71st_Mastiff's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
FC3 will not be available to transfer into Steam. You will have to re-purchase the individual modules as they become available. This is due to a licensing issue with Ubisoft and the Lock On series. This will never change. The same extends to the Black Shark 2 upgrade. It is far too much work for Eagle Dynamics to try and cross check every previously purchased BS1/BS2 key pair and issue new BS2 keys to everyone who owns both. Your games work perfectly fine with the version of DCS World that will forever continue to be supported via dcs-world.com, if you want to use them with Steam you will have to re-purchase the stand-alone version of Black Shark 2 at this point in time. UH-1H is not available via Steam yet as it is still considered a beta module. Once UH-1H is out of beta, it will show up in the Steam DLC list and the license key you are currently using should transfer over to Steam. As for the other modules, you must open steam and go to the Games menu then select "Activate a Product on Steam". Follow the menu prompts, paste your activation key as provided by Eagle Dynamics for whichever module(s) you wish to activate, and click OK. It should automatically show up within DCS: World. You will have to repeat this process for each module you wish to transfer over to Steam. Once you launch a mission, it will re-prompt you for these activation keys so that it can register with the Eagle Dynamics activation server and unlock your modules unless you have already registered them on your computer in which case I believe it just uses the activation data already stored on your computer. As stated previously, FC3 will never be available to transfer into Steam due to licensing issues with Ubisoft and the Lock On series, but you can re-purchase the individual modules through Steam OR just keep around a separate install of DCS: World with just the FC3 planes installed. Personally I'll be re-purchasing the modules just for consolidation (as sending the extra $15 every few months is really not that big of a deal to me and I wish to support the developers). Also as stated previously, UH-1H should be available for transfer into Steam once it has moved out of beta. Again, if you wish to fly the Huey, just keep a separate version of DCS: World installed that has the Huey module activated.
