DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog
Psyrixx replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
This is honest curiosity on my part so please don't take it as me being an ass. What exactly is wrong with Ka-50? The only fault I can find is that the trimmer adds extra input unless you hold it down before/while setting it. IE: I know if I push stick forward 1/4 and click trimmer, the stick should use that as its new center but the helicopter adds another bit of forward pressure to the trim (I have centralized trimmer mode active so I have to recenter the joystick before I can effectively move the cyclic or rudders and the helicopter still noses down violently... my solution is to hold trimmer button down, correct for the additional input, then release). Otherwise all systems seem to perform as advertised? I haven't noticed any bugs per se. I also haven't looked at the Ka-50 forums yet, but will go take a peek now. I do see a ton of requests for bug fixes in the Ka-50 though, and am just curious what the obvious ones are? Nevermind, found this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94741 -
DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog

Isn't the technical term for this "modding"? ;) :pilotfly: -
Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“
Psyrixx replied to PeterP's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
_ = _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('2 Screen'); Description = 'Two monitor configuration' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = screen.width; height = screen.height; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = screen.aspect; } } If your code is indeed as above (since this is what you pasted, albeit without the tags around it), then the first line, "_=", is breaking the script. Make sure the first line is "_ = function(p) return p; end;". -
Awesome, can't wait to play with the Su27 some more. :D

A little F-15C AFM update - 7 December 2013
Psyrixx replied to uboats's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Keep in mind that in order to install FC3 you must own Lock On or a previous Flaming Cliffs title. Also, FC3 is not (officially) transferrable to the Steam version of DCS World. Stand alone aircraft have already been released for the A-10A and Su-25, and it stands to reason that the same will be true of the F-15 and Su27 once the AFMs are completed. The stand alone versions do not require Lock On or a previous Flaming Cliffs title, and will (likely, if the module releases up to this point are any indication) be fully transferable to/from the Steam version. :) -

DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog
Psyrixx replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Exactly this. We get so much stuff for free and at a constant pace. Slow? Yes. But only a few weeks/months between an update as opposed to years. And I wasn't saying "if you aren't happy with it go away". There are a few posts asking why something was done or asking for specifics on a certain item. I don't find any fault or negativity in those posts. But there have also been posts straight up saying "if you don't release <feature x> this patch I'm moving to <insert different game here>." It is to those people I say good riddance, begone. Comments along those lines don't help anyone. -

DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog
Psyrixx replied to Mike Busutil's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
The game is already amazing. Each patch brings welcome fixes, and a few extra features. If they said <feature x> is going to be included eventually, it will be. Just because it isn't listed in this particular patch doesn't mean that they've cancelled it. It doesn't do anything but discourage Eagle Dynamics when they put a ton of effort into fixing the best flight sim on the market only to be barraged by a thread full of negativity about how <whatever> "was promised next update" and didn't make it. Things change. Certain features that may have looked like they were almost done can hit snags and need to be postponed until a later update. It's not the end of the world. Eventually, if people complain enough, all we'll get are patch notes with absolutely no hints to what may be on the horizon from Eagle Dynamics because they'll be too sick of all the flak they get for "promising" something and not delivering. Instead of fostering communication from them with a "thanks for the intel" the community seems to be punishing them for daring to post information about a future possibility and then not immediately following it up with substance. F-15AFM is coming. Su27AFM is coming. New Su33 model is coming. EDGE is coming. ATC improvements? Guess what - they're coming too. Some of these things might even be included in this patch - the patch notes are preliminary and Wags may have inadvertently left them off the huge list of updates. If they're not? It's not the end of the world, they will be included in the future. "But Wags said <whatever I've got a hard-on about> will be in the next patch!" Maybe it was supposed to be. And maybe they decided to work on something more important or easier to finish so that they could check it off of their large list of ToDo items. And maybe by implementing said feature, it broke several other things and they need more time to adequately debug it. Or maybe it was dependent on something that seemed like it would be easy to implement but ended up holding up the entire patch release. These things (plus many more) happen during development of even simple applications - I'm sure it's compounded when working with a very complex flight simulator. All I'm saying is: they're working as hard as they can and despite that, it seems like all we read is complaints in return. At some point, they'll just stop communicating with us all together because it won't be worth the negativity. -

The lack of respect in here just blows my mind sometimes. Guys - maybe try complaining a little more that <feature x> hasn't been included in this patch. Maybe since you Negative Nancies aren't happy enough with getting our weekly updates taken away you can also get our preliminary patch change logs taken away too. Hell, it's no wonder ED doesn't post more information about future possibilities... it's actually depressing to me to read all of the "but this was promised, but that was promised" whining in here. And I don't even work for ED. New patch. Quite a few significant changes listed in the preliminary change log. Your favorite new feature not listed? Guess what? It's coming. Maybe not this patch, maybe not next patch, but it will eventually be added to the game. Is it such a big deal to you that <whatever> is not in this patch, that you would come in here and post that you are no longer interested in DCS and are moving on to something else? Good. Please uninstall the game and get off the forums ASAP so I don't have to read your incessant whining anymore. Maybe if you do it fast enough, you'll leave before ED loses all desire to update the community with upcoming changes. Seriously, blows my mind how much negativity is in here. -
DCS 1.2.7 Open Beta - Preliminary Changelog

Changelog looks awesome, can't wait for the engine smoke and AAR fixes! The rest of it looks very welcome as well. =D -
Full Fidelity "Study Sim" (A-10C, Ka50, P-51, UH-1H, Mi8 ) [AKA: Fully Clickable Cockpit, Fully Modeled Systems, Aircraft Flies Realistically] Partial Fidelity "Survey Sim" with Advanced Flight Model (A-10A, Su25, Su25T) [AKA: Non-clickable Cockpit, Simplified Systems, Aircraft Flies Realistically] Partial Fidelity "Survey Sim" (F-15, Su27, Su33) [AKA: Non-clickable Cockpit, Simplified Systems, Aircraft Flies More Simplistically] ---- I own all the modules and love them all equally. None are 'easy' by any sense of the word. All have an "arcade" mode which basically just adds a target radar (Halo-style). All are at least as good as any other flight simulator on the market as far as getting in the air and flying around. The further up the totem pole you go, the longer it will take to learn the aircraft and the more complicated the learning process becomes. The Partial Fidelity Survey Sim aircraft are easy to learn and a ton of fun to get into the air quickly and blow stuff up. The F-15 and Su27 will soon be moving up the totem pole to Partial Fidelity Survey Sim with Advanced Flight Model, but the ETA on that is still not known. Same with DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, which will be a Full Fidelity Study Sim; however, no ETA on that has been stated. Whatever you buy, you win. Also, that is a huge list of aircraft for any flight simulator and covers a wide range of interests. HOW AWESOME IS THIS GAME? Awesome enough that often times I just load it up to do nothing more than fly around and enjoy the scenery. :)

I know you unplugged your joystick to make sure it wasn't adding any unwanted inputs but I would still suggest checking your control configuration for the A-10C, under the View category, and making sure that "View Up Slow" isn't bound to anything other than keyboard commands. I would also go through the View Cockpit category and double check the same.

That was an awesome video!

Combined Development Update - November 1, 2013
Psyrixx replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Check your Spam folder. Several people reported on /r/hoggit that their P-51D keys were funneled there. I received my product keys e-mail on Oct 11 from "DCS WWII" <luthier1@gmail.com> if that helps. -
The Official "Where's my Update" Thread

Fixed. :pilotfly: -
Move your default keyboard configuration file out of C:\Users\YourName\Savegames\DCS\Input\ and let DCS create a new one from scratch (will happen automatically when the game loads and doesn't find your old keyboard config). Then try re-binding the key.

I actually have no problems with DCS or BF3/4, I was just playing the Blame DCS For Everything™ game.

Battlefield 4 keeps crashing on my PC. Damnit DCS! Why do you suck so much!! :P

Wags, thanks for the new Su-25T Training Lessons
Psyrixx replied to kontiuka's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
No, the training lessons are made to be interchangeable with the future 6DOF cockpit for the Su-25T. If the Su-25T or Su-25 are ever made to be study-sim fidelity aircraft with fully interactive cockpits, the training lessons will need to be re-made or updated significantly for the added functionality.
