  1. To give a little background, I recently picked up the Volair Sim gaming chair, which has 2 plates on either side of the seat specifically for joystick/throttle mounting. I've already mounted the joystick and throttle onto the 2 plates, reusing the screws from both, but now I'm trying to do a hackish thing that's hard to describe in words. I'll add some pictures tonight once I pick up those nuts and bolts.
  2. Thanks, I'll pick up some M4 and M5 bolts and see how they fit.
  3. Hello, I'm looking to mount the HOTAS Warthog throttle and joystick to a metal plate using bolts and nuts. What size bolt and nut would be the most optimal for this kind of mounting?
  4. I tried doing TMS forward long when the TAD is SOI and the "+" is slewed over to where I want to search, but the HUD still says "STPT" and when I china hat forward long, the TGP still slews over to the steerpoint. I also tried watching the Youtube video that was linked, but it's 40 minutes long and the guy has a very monotonous voice and repeats himself over and over, and I almost fell asleep after only 10 minutes. I'll try and finish up the remaining 30 minutes sometime tonight. In the meantime, it sounds like creating a markpoint with TMS right short, then slewing the TGP to the markpoint is the only way of getting this behavior.
  5. Am I not supposed to full blast them after take-off? With a full weapon load at level flight, I'm only pushing 240 knots or so. Once I get to the target area, I reduce the throttle to minimum for dives, but then full blast them once I'm pulling up. For the missions that I'm doing, I always run out of weapons before I run out of fuel, so maximizing orbit time is not really a concern.
  6. Whoops, forgot to mention that. I'm in GMT-10 (Hawaii). I'm usually on in the evenings, 8-11 PM HST.
  7. Cool, thanks. I think I'll keep them unlinked from now on. I have them on 100% anyways most of the time.
  8. I've recently gotten A-10C and although I can start up the plane, fly around and bomb a target, and then land back at base, I'm not very good at any of it. I've tried a few multiplayer servers, but my experience has been that people are either in a really tight-knit group already (and I'm the outsider), or that there's hardly any chatter going on in Teamspeak. I was wondering, what is a good server to join where I can learn the ropes with someone more experienced and willing to help out?
  9. I've been flying some of the single player missions, and sometimes I'm told to engage targets a certain number of clicks to the west or east of a waypoint. What I'd like to do is move the cursor on the TAD to a position that's roughly around where I should start searching, then slew the TGP to that point. Is there an easy way of doing this? So far I've been setting a mark point and then slewing the TGP to that, but because mark points can't be deleted, after a few of them the TAD gets really busy.
  10. On the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog, the throttles can be linked to one another using a lever that links the left throttle to the right throttle. Is this how it is on the real A-10C as well? Or is this linking lever merely for convenience only?
  11. What is the proper procedure for employing them?
  12. I've been using a TrackIR 5 with a track clip attached to a hat, and although the experience is improved over using the numpad to look around, it's still sub-optimal. In particular, I run into these issues: 1. When I zoom in with a z-axis slider, the camera zooms in on the UFC instead of the HUD. As a result, when doing gun runs, I have to tilt my head up and point my eyes downwards in order to see the pipper. This is about as awkward as it sounds. 2. I can look left and right with ease, but the vertical movement is really constrained because the sensor stops picking up the track clip. This makes it hard to look straight up as well as down at the left and right panels. I often find myself twisting my head in odd positions so that the game can focus on some switch or button properly, and I've all but given up on looking straight up. 3. When looking at the left and right panels, due to the issues mentioned in #2, I can't zoom in without getting out of the sensor's range. This makes it especially problematic to zoom in on the CDU or the radios on the left panel. I'm using the default TrackIR 5 settings for DCS. Is there any advice you guys can give on how I can improve the tracking so that I don't run into these limitations?
  13. Yeah, the engine gauges, sorry. I thought those were backlit?
  14. I've noticed that there's an extrusion on the upper right corner of every gauge on the front panel. Does anyone know what those are for?
  15. I don't know about that...somehow I have a hard time believing that military doctrine is "oh crap, an airplane is bombing us, everyone abandon their vehicles and run away!". Not to mention that even infantry stands absolutely still in the sim as you strafe them.
  16. Thanks for the response. Well that's a minor disappointment. The units do disperse, but then just sit there afterwards, waiting to get killed one by one. This means that an easy way to take out a group of tanks moving down the road is simply to Maverick one of the tanks, wait for them to finish dispersing, then just fly overhead and drop bombs on them as if they were bridges. Makes it significantly easier than if they actually dispersed and started running away.
  17. I'm still new to A-10C and I'm still learning how to pilot the plane, so I've only been doing Instant Action missions thus far, but from what I've noticed, mobile ground targets (jeeps, trucks, tanks, etc...) don't ever run away after you bomb a target around them. For example, if you attack two trucks and only hit one, the other truck will drive a short distance, stops, and then doesn't ever budge again. Same goes for tanks that are either sitting still or traveling on a road. Does anyone know if this is common behavior throughout the game, or is this only for the instant action missions to make it easier to attack the targets?
  18. Glad I picked it up before the price adjust!
