  2. In the recent few days I've tried to raise stability of DCSW on my PC by following "Tweak": PC Configuration: Win7 x64 RAM: 8GB CPU: Intel E8400 @3.00GHz (not overclocked) GPU: ATI HD5770 Sapphire VaporX @960/1300MHz (GPU/Memory) Now, as you may see, not some impressive config. But, this is what I did: 1. Start TaskManager 2. Start DCSW 3. Enter desired server 4. After loading the server, switch to TaskManager and set DCSW process to "High Priority". It has crashed only once (probably because of excessive alt-tabing) since I do this. Tonight, at the moment where 5 players dropped connection on 51st server - I haven't even had lag or FPS Drop. A friend tried the same - he still crashed after a while because of server overpopulation mostly (he doesn't have problems on low-player-number servers). But - I now don't have so much problems. Some of you might find this helpful, so I posted. Sorry if I'm wasting anyone elses time.
  3. Does anyone own "Saitek Cyborg 3dII"? I have one that needs replacement of X and Y axis potentiometers, but they are missing. So I need to see how should I rewire it. (P.S. Did ask Saitek/MadCatz support, they can't disclose such information). If anyone can give me the photos of wiring inside, or instructions, that would make my day.
  4. This is intended to be a simulator. Could you possibly imagine the server overload with smoke trails made by your suggestion? I don't really know what is realistic here, but let's not go with "so we can do THIS and THAT more easier" philosophy (from the first post). Make it as realistic possible. Not as easier possible. Or it will fail (DCS idea). Also, take note of the fact that smoke trails are affected by weather conditions (wind, air pressure etc). For some serious modeling of smoke trails - we will have to wait. We got a dynamic weather engine - that is half-work done. Now "just" to code the behaviour of smoke to act acordingly to that. So - a lot of research in meteorology and we all get realistic smoke trails :D
  5. I did, no problem there now. I am getting a feel it is whatever 104th did in making a "Restricted Payload Mission", and a false alarm from me (sorry). Will adress them about that when I have a chance (although I already told one of their admins).
  6. Yeah, I listed it as a MP problem. I am not sure anymore is it a problem with update, or with "restricted payload" missions. But as it is said restricted ordnance could be selected in this case, but not the gunpods o.0
  7. Gentleman, With a new update came a new bug, and an annoying one. When you try to select external gunpods in game, you CAN'T select them. You just get unclickable field with small haight. Screens below. It happens wheter you are or not armed. It had been confirmed for Su25T and Ka50. (Screens below) My presumption is that it is because server it self was not updated with latest update. (Testing that with 104th server now - waiting for an updated server). I strongly advise that you push the limitation seen in other online apps: If the server and client versions do not match - you can not enter the server because it can cause issues and lag (running different versions). That is a known fact to you, I am aware of that. Also I am aware of possibility that some server may have "problems" when new update appears, but that is good for community because it will keep server admins disciplined about updating accordingly to simulator development. 1. 2. 3. Thank you for your efforts. Edit: It happened on a "restricted payload" type of mission, but under this circumstances: A: Payload was restricted to use of unguided weaponry. B: You could still select guided missiles for Su25T in rearm menu C: Might be a mission problem, now I am not sure... Happened on 104th server.
  8. RGR Actually it was. But the restriction was on guided missiles, and they (guided missiles) are still listed in rearm menu. And it does not happen in SP. Read this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1698509#post1698509 Will do, thank you.
  9. Major Bug with 1.2.3.10201 Gentleman from ED, With a new update came a new bug, and an annoying one. When you try to select external gunpods in game, you CAN'T select them. You just get unclickable field with small haight. Screens below. It happens wheter you are or not armed. It had been confirmed for Su25T and Ka50. 1. 2. 3. Player confirming the same problem in Ka50 Please resolve this. Thank you :) EDIT: Does not happen in single player or mission editor. Is it possible that the server itself needs to be updated with new version?
  10. So, basically, the work done on 1.2.3. is not final and we will se more improvements? Excellent. You replied well about Traffic Shaping, but the term may be implied on local traffic shaping. There are way more protocols that use network than you can see. And none of them needs to overwhelm the bandwidth to make DCSW crash. They just have to collide in one point and force your OS to break operation, thus giving you ping timeout or broken connection. Developers should not focus only on bandwith exploatation metods. Thanks for your reply :)
  11. From my point of view, it would be ok that we get few new things by each update. It is not mandatory that we get a "fully-furnished" product at once. We would have to wait for years for that to come. This way, we MAY collaborate with the creating force behind the DCS project with our user input during the process. No use in tongue rollings around. As far as I understood - ED is somewhat limited in financial resources and is not a company that creates game software that has a commercial impact/income as some other game series. But this is not Call Of Something arcade linear game. This is the first attempt of man to create a virtual batlefield with highest possible fidelity. So, maybe we should put our own wishes at a side for now and find some joy in possibility of having a mass multiplayer battlefield simulator in years to come. It could be an enjoyment to be a part of a process. They actually gave us all the possibility to be testers for the product in some way. Just my 2¢ :)
  12. I was wondering, if some amount of crashes in DCS World are coming from a networking part of application, would there be any of you that have an idea how to do "Traffic Shaping" so that DCS World (Or LockOn 3, or any application whatsoever) has a priority in package distribution over LAN/WAN/VPN/WWW? Please, try to answer with specific details and possible solutions regarding the use of "Traffic Shaping". For those that want to follow this thread, and are not aware of what the term means, wiki has an article about it. Link: Traffic Shaping Thank you.
