SEAD Missiles Explained? Since we didn't have any input on this subject "from The Authorities" I am making a duplicate subject. Please, explain to us what had happened here: As you will see in the video - Anti-Radiation Missiles act as if they follow the emission, but not scripted location of the emitter (radar instalation) itself. Let's say it goes to the point in front of antenna where emission is strongest. If the antenna is facing opposite of you - it is a very probable miss, because the missile will target some 2 meters behind/over the radar emitter itself. But, as you will see in the video, rotating antennas may be even bigger problem. Now watch the video and pay attention to details I've spoken of in this comment and give us your 2 cents. Link to the video: Youtube Video No explanation why they blow-up in your face for now, more than before, except for possibility that when antenna turns away from you it reacts as if it lost the source of radiation. Or they really do loose it (SR you shot at turns off, but TR is still active, so it shoots at you) - but this is long shot.

I never said "always" but you have seen my missile shot a target. So they don't miss always. I've had kills with KH25MPU since 1.2.4. but we are scratching the surface here. Need more testing. On the other hand, ED has the knowledge of what did they change so they have the absolutely correct answer. Again: Hopefully someone will tell us something soon... And the "rotary" isn't the only problem here, it is also the aspect of point from where you fire the missile to the location/bearing of the antenna beam. And I did not shoot 58 at full-rotary emitter in the video. Also, take notice that not all the "designated points to act as targets" need to be correctly placed. You see that the 58U targets lower plate of the radar, diverting to the left of it's vertical center. That means that the point in space which acts as a target to missile is lower than the antenna itself.

For the next version of DCS increase in Chinese language
Kameni replied to lkyfly0400's topic in DCS Wishlist
I vote yes, when ever possible, because they are a large market, and their servers were full even in FC2. -
No problems here, except that DCS still crashes if you leave it minimised for a longer time (longer than couple of minutes).

It's like that for all of us. Personally - I like it more like this :D But they do have buggy Su25T HUD in this release, and I've already reported a more serious bug.

But, as you will see in the video, rotating antennas are even bigger problem. Now, I believe ED tried to make a less scripted thus more realistic targeting system, but it's effects are to excessive - obviously and need correction. Or it's scripted with a script that made it worse. (If I really got all of this right, as it seems). Sorry Badger, there really is something different than it used to be. Now ED must tell us is this realistic, or we all buy a KUB and shoot at it with KH25MPU to test the missiles :D Now watch the video and pay attention to details I've spoken of in this comment and give us your 2 cents. Hopefully, ED will react with an answer. :) VIDEO IS LONGER THAN 1.23 if it shows you incorrect time stamp - JUST WATCH IT TO THE END. They are not shot down indeed, but it is not "simply by excess". You will see, I explained it inside the video it self. Sorry for the lousy text and animation, I rushed it. Didn't try to make it pretty, but useful. :D Both 25 and 58 have the same "issue" but it affects 25 more because of different performances of two different missiles. Update: Video available in 30 minutes TOP.

Update: Video is rendering. Will start upload in less than half hour and will take some time to upload (85 Mb @speed of 0.86mbps) Everything is explained in it. 50% rendering at the moment.

Not just that I can confirm, but I have made a video to explain what is happening, and it might be a feature, for real. All we need is an expert to confirm it. Just bare with me, it's Easter here tomorow, I will upload the live in game video during the day with explanation why missiles miss. I must say in bold: This will not be a game-track video because tracks may have errors - i recorded it in-game while playing.
-
Well - there is some update-to-update bugs, but I believe that will come straight in time. Just bear with them, like the rest of us and soon enough - we'll have immersive sim in our hands :)

Also, it would be nice if ATC informed us about the ground wind BEFORE we get to like a final of the final... Supposedly - the moment you switch from VZV to POS (RTN to ???) you are granted that "cleared for visual" and when you check in your approach - you get the wind information. It is a fact that it's annoying to get a wind reading at 1-2 km from the runway at speed of 320-350 kmh. No time for any planning of approach, and add to it that other people use the runway as well, often in the same time as you do.

That is pretty much not needed with the current size of the community and the more important work that is going on, just like my proposition of in-game voice engine/TS Integration GUI.

Not a word about EDGE though... :/

As you can see from the collage below, the targeting cursor is not visible correctly in the lower section of the HUD due to some misplacement, and entirely invisible in the far bottom left and far bottom right corners (can be a problem if engaging from a higher altitude). Following collage describes transition from bottom left to bottom right corner of the HUD with the cursor:

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Delayed fire is a feature, not a bug as much as I know. If you are reffering to altimeter on the top right side of the HUD display it aligns it self with the last digit. So it will be 10P (10R) when you're at 10 meters high, 1000R when you're 1000m high... If that is what you're talking about - it is not a bug, but a feature, and I was also like "It's a BUUUUUG" until I took off :D

I quitted on downloading missions from there when I downloaded a Su25T campaign where airports were not dedicated to red or blue, so when you finish your 1st sortie - you can't refuel and rearm ANYWHERE because all of the airports are neutral. So...it is a most likely mission specific bug. If you know how to - check mission in Mission Editor, but that is risky cause you can screw up the triggers. It's just a mission bug, not the simulator bug, probably. Nothing that they will or should spend their time needed for making more of content for us all. It is just one mission, compared to (at least) 2 DCS fighter modules coming up from ED. See the big picture mate? :)

It is not so much true. I don't know for how long do you play this but please, read my post in This Thread and maybe it will help you to understand better. As far as "KH58 explodes" it has been mentioned in the post also.

No. They are fine now and They were fine before, but AI SAM's were too dumb for one period of time. This is better, and more like it. Now they are not sitting pawns, but they shoot down missiles as they were supposed to. As they did in Flaming Cliffs all that time. As they are capable in real life. Well...that is my opinion from my short experience (from 2011). And the fact that the 58U blew up in front of you means it was hit/proximity blasted by another missile coming your way. The long-shot possibility is that the target was lost for some reason (someone else destroyed it/it stopped emmiting) and the missile auto-destructed. But it is probably the first thing. Happened a lot to me in A2A and rarely in A2G engagements - but it happens. IF the case is that SEAD missile auto-destructs when it looses target's emission - then ED should put "minimum distance from firing pod needed to auto-destruct". That is the only possibility of a bug here from my point of view. I have noticed that SAM's are more capable of turning off/on their search and tracking radars and that can cause missile auto-destruct. Thus - it is VITAL that it has a constrain that forbids the missile to destroy itself near the aircraft that fired it. EDIT: Oh, yeah - one more thing: The aspect of fired missile regarding to target is very important. If you are flying very low and fire a SEAD missile, it has a big chance of hitting the ground near the actual target. And (UNCONFIRMED) the same aspect is also important for increasing/decreasing the chance of your missile being shot down. If you fire missile in a very low flight - it will spend the most of the flight in horizontal line or likely with a some ascent before it dives. If you fire it from let's say 5000 meters - it will fly straight somewhat, and in some point it will dive down on a radiation source. Depending on the missile that tries to shoot it down - firing aspect counts for probability of your missile being shot down. I understand that people don't have much time to fly, but ED shouldn't fall to presumption they have to make "an easy game". This is a simulator. The fact that SAM's couldn't shoot twat in 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 is actual error. Also, the fact that IR SAM's were "The eye of Saruman" in 1.2.3. is also an error. It is abnormal that you make a sortie with 6 missiles, fire them from more than half their range and have a high kill ratio. As sooner you fire them, SAM's have more time to shoot them down. THIS is good - how the SAM's act now. 1.2.3. could be called a smaller misstep in the aspect of SAM's, but it is fixed now. 1.2.3. and me taking off from Krasnodar, attacking Novorosiysk and Gelendzik (BUK, TOR, 2c6, multiple IR) and having a success rate with SEAD missiles like: 3 Sorties, 18 missiles, fired, 12-14 kills (and just because I shot 2 at the same target sometimes) is abnormal situation. This is fine, please, don't deteriorate the SAM's again... :/

The templates on main site does not include all the files necessary to create a complete skin. There is no "Numbers" file, for example. livery = { {"f15nose", 0 ,"f15_nose",true}; {"f15nose", 3 ,"f15_decol_AK",true}; {"f15bottom", 0 ,"f15_bottom",true}; {"f15bottom", 3 ,"f15_decol_AK",true}; {"f15centr", 0 ,"f15_centr",true}; {"f15wingl", 0 ,"f15_wing_l",true}; {"f15wingl", 3 ,"f15_decol_AK",true}; {"f15wingr", 0 ,"f15_wing_r",true}; {"f15stab", 0 ,"f15_stab_v",true}; {"f15stab", 3 ,"f15_decol_AK",true}; {"f15numbers", 0 ,"f15_numbers_AK",true}; {"pilot_F15_patch", 0 ,"f15_decol_empty",true}; {"pilot_F15_00_body", 0 ,"pilot_f15_00_a",true}; {"f15PTB", 0 ,"f15_PTB",true}; } countries = {"USA"} That is 14 files. The template available has only 7. Yeah, I can spend a day getting to know where they fit on the actual plane, and to align them properly, but it would be much easier if ED uploads complete templates. Su25A/T template is not complete also. Didn't check on the rest, but it would be nice if someone spent 5 minutes to start the upload...of files in complete versions.

You don't quit on FC level aircraft is the only thing that rings my bell before the first coffe this "morning". :)

Yes, but I will feel fantastic when all their plans hit the market and I buy those I like

Yes, I know what it does, but it did seem like a bug to me since I can't check it. For now - who ever wants to enable exterior views should: 1. Check the left checkbox 2. Check the left checkbox on "F10 View Options" below, and set it to "ALL". At least it worked for me.

Every company has frequent server overload problems. Neither you, nor anyone else can call them names for ONE situation where it failed. If you want to put name tags on someone, then consider all the good things they did. And yes I am a spokesman - but not for ED, but for common sense. And on the subject that made this arise: Nobody that comes with attitude "nothing works, everything is crap" don't deserve help until he learns to be civilised. P.S. Do I have the right? Yes - I have the right to give my opinion. At least it is not hateful to hard-working people. Only a spoiled person demands perfection. I rest my case.

Klem, take into consideration that ED with limited resources made something that none of the rich companies in gaming did not. Yeah, it would be downloading like a charm if it was made by some multi-milion company. Right... Also, take into consideration that anyone who does not understand what is "server overload" and blames the provider for it is considered as a bad customer, and a unfair one. If you look at it more carefully, any ED product with DCS level of details should cost minimum 100$ when compared to games that don't include advanced physics (let's say shooter games) and many other thinfs. And those games are always the same with every next title, they just use new hardware capabilities to make better "eye candy". Dumb and meaningless "fun". With the limited resources they have - they've made something nobody else did or could or wanted (ED). And all of that in the same time while they are fighting a legal problems because there are some selfish people who weren't capable of taking it into this level. And nobody has the right to be ungrateful to blame on ED that servers got overloaded and for their own impatience. They pulled of a miracle, gave it to us for a reasonable price (and consider the bunch of promotional periods with lower prices) and if people just have a bit more understanding and patience, instead of acting like little b*tches, this WILL be a fantastic thing in a year or two. It is even now, but the potential is even greater.
