  1. I have made a new folder for the p51 ( Copied the name right from DCS\mods\aircraft ) I've moved in my PNG Files and none display in the cockpit. I do the same with the Hornet without any issue. So maybe the P-51D name is not the proper name for knee boards? I know how to upload knee-boards to the miz file using 7 zip, but I want a knee-board with my notes no matter what the mission. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dave.
  2. This is great news. Thank you! Dave.
  3. I am and i will look for that OBS plugin. Thank you for the quick reply. Dave
  4. I figured this thread would be my best bet to get an answer, since most anyone reading this probably streams DCS in VR. I just switched from Oculus to Pimax. Oculus had a mirror window that i could use OBS with. Pimax does not, is there a tool available that would stream the VR picture but full screen without all the bending? I don't see a SteamVr Mirror setting or anything the like. This is the only VR game I stream in VR with. Thanks for any advice, Dave
  5. This is my 2nd HMD. My 1st was the CV1. So i guess anything would of been an improvement. But once i got all the settings dailed in, it was a huge difference compaired to the Oculus. I purchase the Pimax mainly for the FOV. The XR unit with OLED has a noticeable SDE. I've never tested the 5K+ but from what ive read its a tad more clear with less sde. My friends have the HP reverb and they love it. The clarity on the reverb is possibly the best all around. Pretty much no sde. I almost purchased the reverb, but they were complaining about the hmd blacking out after a while due to over heating. My pimax has not done that at all. So for aviation and daytime flying I'd have to say 5k+. A cheaper and probably better all around unit would maybe be the reverb if they can get the unit to stop shutting down on them. Also check your ipd. The pimax is best for thise people with normal eye spacing, around 64 or so. People with narrow field of view have problem with pimax huge display. You will want a strong card for large fov. I have just a GTX1080 and small fov is what i have to use to get the clarity and fps just right. Good luck.
  6. Well whatever that edit does, makes a huge impact on resolution. Before this edit, i could only have a crisp image inside the cockpit, now everything outsude the cockpit, ( the world ) is high res. Just back up the file and give it a try, you may he pleasantly surprised: ). It really didn't affect my FPS at all. I also downloaded the current version of PiTool, v249 and that provided a firmware update which really helped with the load screen flashing.
  7. Hey Mr Voight. I found the solution which had been discussed on other threads. I figured it out finally after hours of research. But now i have perfect resolution! It's amazing. I can see clearly for miles!. So this is what i found out. SteamVr's max horizontal resolution by default is 4096, you have to modify the "maxRecommendedResolution" in steamvr config. And Set it to 8192. Which is the Pimax max. .So Steam Vr was throttling back my optics because steam vr only cares about the index being the index only renders at 4096!. - find the cfg file here and open with notepad. (Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\resources\settings) set "maxRecommendedResolution" to 8192. Once i edited this config it was like holy crap. I can see for ever. My FPS was not affected either which is strange but okay.
  8. " personally use DCS PD to supersample ( PD 1.1 or 1.2 ) and keep the other two close to default ( Pitool Quality 1.0, SteamVR close to native horizotnal resolution )" That's a good idea. I will use dcs PD to adjust that option and leave pitool alibe. Thats also a great idea about the head strap. The flimsy thing they give us is not very goid for a $800 headset lol. Thank you for taking the time to really detail these options. Happy New Year! Dave
  9. Hello friends. So I got myself a new toy. I'm working my way through all the settings and finding my right set up. But I'm curious about the settings and which settings are being used in DCS. Eg. I see there is a section on the PiTool where one can set settings per-game. One of the boxes says use the games settings. However, I can not launch the game from Pitool, even with SteamVr running. I have to start the game manually and then test out the settings. So being the only way I can run the program is by the DCS Exe file directly, which settings are being used? The Game settings, or PiTool? PiTool has a PD of 1.25 and DCS pixel density I have set at 1.0. So which one is being used, PiTool of 1.25 or DCS of 1.0? Really whats the point of having an option to use the games settings, if you can't even launch the game through PiTool? Maybe this has been corrected with a later beta. Oh by the way, I'm using PiTool Version 1.0.1.180. Is it safe to use the latest version, v249? I don't see any release notes on it at all. And some say 245 had bricked some Headsets. So I'm a little Leary on updating the PiTool. Last question for now. It looks like SteamVr has changed their settings, so no more SS. Just select which resolution you want to use. Currently I selected 60 % at 2082 x 2511. I was reading on a different thread that SteamVr limits the headset max horizontal resolution by default to 4096. you have to modify the maxRecommendedResolution in steamvr config. and set it to 8192. (\Steam\config\steamvr.vrsettings)" I've looked at this file, and no where do I see any mention of maxRecommendedResolution anywhere... Anyway, Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Thank you. Dave.
  10. So ive seen this instruction in several posts. "max horizontal resolution by default to 4096, you have to modify the maxRecommendedResolution in steamvr config. I set it to 8192. (\Steam\config\steamvr.vrsettings)" But when i open that cfg file using notepad, i do not see anything about max recommended resolution. I've also noticed that steamvr resolution settings looks different now than it does in the many videos ive watched. So maybe I'm stuck at the 4096 value?. I just got the pimax 5K XR 4 xmas. So im jtst getting atarted on getting everythibg set up good for dcs. After making some changes the cockpit is very legable but the outside is kind of blurry with screen door. Maybe making the above change will correct outside the cockpit resolution?. I'm currently using pitool 180. I see that 249 is out, so maybe ill update that. Current settings DCS PD-1.5 Pimax PD 1.25 FOV-small Steam custom res70% ( i don't see a SS option anywhere. I guess i have a newer version of steam.) So my biggest gripe is the way the world looks and how blury the aircraft looks from an outside view. For some reason the oculus had a better look on the outside. But in the cockpit which is most important looks great. In game fps right now is steady 40. So not bad. My system at a glace. MB: Asus ROG z-390-H Pros: i7-9700 Graphics: GTX1080 ( Not a TI ) 16 gig ram. So in summary how do i max horizontal resolution above the default 4096 to the 8192. ? Thanks. I hope everyone had a nice xmas. Dave.
  11. So I just threw together a test flight with the same load out, and now it's working. Who knows. Maybe the older Miz I was using had an issue.... Or it could be possible I was not holding the release button long enough. But I was able to make it work this time. Thank you as always for the answers. I was just stumped because I had updated DCS to current beta and I had that problem. So naturally I blamed it on the update instead of me lol. Thanks you all! Dave.
  12. I will add a track. But yes, i had two bombs same rack. They were the only gbu's on board. Others were MAV's and ata. One depress of the button does nothing anymore. I'll grab a track and see what you think. Thanks for the andwers. Dave
  13. Yes, but a track won't explain weather or not i am to depress the bomb release once as a quick tap or a long hold for release?. Long hold was the only way i could get the bomb's to drop like it was a ccrp, but wasn't.
  14. Quick question. Regarding the GBU. Before once I set all the coords for PP Mode, I had to push the drop button once to drop a single bomb. Then I would select PP2 then click the drop button again to drop the second bomb. Today, ( 1st flight in a while ) I entered everything in and once in range I clicked the drop button and nothing happened. Master Arm was on etc... So thinking maybe a long press would drop the bomb. It did, but one long press and hold, dropped, not one, but two bombs at once. I only had 2 bombs on board, both JDAM's were on the same station. So is this a bug, or is there a new way to drop a single bomb. Watching both bombs falling F6, they both hit the same target. Which makes sense, since they both dropped while PP1 was boxed. So a bug? Thanks for the updates. : ) Dave.
  15. Thank you both for your help. I got it now. : ) Dave
  16. Thanks for the info. I assume this " /kneeboard/images/ folder within the .miz " Is within the root file of DCS and not under users/saved games/... I'll check out that utility your talking about too. Thanks for the response. Dave
  17. Is there a place I can put custom Kneeboards as part of a Mission. I don't mean the local kneeboard, I mean within the mission, thus allowing others to view it when they bring up their kneeboard. Right now the kneeboard brings up the miz way points on the map, then after I can scroll through till I get to my personal kneeboard JPGs. Figured there might be a way to add in some mission info for the group. Thanks. Dave.
  18. You are right. The CBU97 i used a ton with the A-10. That is exactly how i remember them. So i was basically looking for results from a totally different weapon. Makes sense. Thanks. : ) Dave
  19. Thank you Ramsay for taking the time to look into this. I guess I'm just a bad shot then. Lol. Except for that one drop nothing else hit. The hits you found, i remember that drop. In prior missions I've dropped CBU's and about 45 seconds later, I'll see little bombs floating down slowly, then it appears to have a second trigger which causes a ton of firing which looks like fireworks everywhere. I just don't see that kind of behavior anymore. Maybe it was just more spread out. Anyway, I'm glad to know its not a bug i just need to use F6 more so i can see how and when they trigger. Thanks. Dave.
  20. Thanks again for everyone's answers. I tried again today for 2 hours straight. Not once was I able to get the canister to explode at 1500 feet or any height for that matter. The only time I kill a BMP is when the actual canister hits a Tgt. After dropping the bombs in various formats I never once saw any of the bomblets firing at any targets. Anyway, attached is a Zip of 2 Track files. Both are short. Both start in the air with CBU99 and MK20's. If you mess with the Efuse at all, it will block out the weapon. So EFuze does nothing. I set MFUZE for vt, HT, to any altitude and it doesn't matter. Thanks. I've been flying this bird for a long time. This is the only weapon which gives me a hard time, and it's my favorite to use on the battle ground, so yes a bit of a disappointment. Dave. CBU_Trk.zip
  21. Thank you everyone for the explanations and ideas. The only problem with the hard coded to 1500 burst height is both Redkite and Wags YouTube videos show the burst height can be set to what ever you like. I couldn't find it anywhere in the update log either. Not saying your wrong, i just have never seen it in writing yet. I don't recall Efuse having an option for INST. It's different than say a mk82 where you do set the mfuse to inst. But this bomb doesn't have that option. I will add a track to this thread once i try it again. Next day or two Thanks. Dave.
  22. I can not for the life of me get this bomb to work. Master Arm on, then I arm the bomb by clicking fuse, then select HT. Then click ht till it says 700. I click CCIP for mode. The only other thing which might.. might be the cause of it not doing anything is I have been leaving the Tgt waypoint pinned on the ground. Meaning, I select the WP and press the right side, second from the bottom button on the PFD, ( color display ) . This will put the WP Box on the ground, to help locate the tgts. However, when I do this, it keeps putting the Mode into Auto. So I manually tap mode till CCIP is showing. I then line up the cross hairs and drop away. Nothing. Just nothing happens. I've used them before this current Beta and everything worked then. I'm thinking that by having the PFD wp on the ground that for some odd reason stops the bomb from working. But that was just a though I had now. I just wanted to point out the steps I take to use these munitions. Anyway. Hopefully someone can help me. Thanks, Dave.
  23. Thank you : ) Dave
  24. So i loaded the belly with 2 CBU's. I went through the process of arming the bombs, fuze, then ht then selected 900 for height. I had only set 1 bomb to drop. After it dropped, all was well, but i could not load the remaining bomb which was on the same station. When i would get to the ht button nothing would show in the altitude. Just two letters "cc" were in that field. never could dial up a altitude for the bomblets. Is this a big hecause two bombs are on a single station?. I dropped the 2nd bomb and no boom lol Thanks. Dave
  25. Thank you both very much.. Much appreciated. i will download the mission to check it out. Thank you. Now maybe i no longer need to pull my hair out lol. Dave.
