    SIMAPP Pro Setup

I hope this helps others as I spend quite a bit of time reading and watching to learn how to set up the Flight and Combat Panels with the information which is out there. Anyway, since it's fresh in my mind and there is no real manual for installing this software here you go. First Go into your DCS custom settings folder under saved games and make a backup of your orig key bindings, just in case you want to go back for what ever reason. 1. Plug in your Panels. ( Use the USB's which are connected to your MB, not a HUB. ) ( You can likely change this after init setup to a Powered hub if you like ) Windows will then automatically install the drivers. Like any other Joystick. 2. Next Download the SIMAPP Pro Software for windows here. https://www.wwsimstore.com/home/simapp_pro/. 3. Run the Exe like any other, and you will then get a message to likely update the firmware. a. Keep in mind you will need to update the firmware on each device. ( Clicking on the device tab at top to select which unit ) then select "Firmware Update". Then use the back arrow at top to go back to device screen and select the other and same process. Now you have updated both units. ( Keep in mind while the firmware is updating, the back lighting will go out, do not be alarmed it will come back on ) Make sure you do not loose power or unplug the units during the firmware update. Maybe use a batt backup or something like that. 4. Next Log into your account at the top right. ( Same Log in as the main Winwing website which you made the account with. ) 5. CLick the Cog Wheel ( Settings ) At the top right and configure the app to connect to the sim. DCS World Open beta, and choose the path to the root Dir of the game ( not the settings, as the app will find that automatically as you will see. ). Now the app knows where to put setting. 6. Next Click on the tab "Key Bindings" It should be default select DCS and the Hornet Module.. At the very top you will see the controllers, Eg. Flight panel, or Battle Panel. Choose one to update at a time. On the right side you will see the option to download some Key binds. You can search varies aircraft from here as well. But to keep it simple select the "Default" Set and click download. 6a. Now click the "RUN" green Button. This will program the settings for you, even with the game not running yet. 7. Now do the same process for the other panels. You have to download the key bindings for each controller. 8. Under the device tab, click on the unit to adjust the back-light. That is controlled by the slider on the right side. It's set at max brightness by default. 8a. You can also throw switches here and see that they are connected 9. Now Load up DCS, FA18 Hornet. And everything will be connected. Took me about 30 minutes. If I had read something like this first. Maybe 5 minutes to set up. 10. You can use the DCS Controls options to change any of the bindings. Like I did with the Fuel Prob. I swapped out the Hook BYpass for the Fuel Prob. You don't need to do anything in the app after the init download. All other settings can be done normally. Downloading these default settings for the panels did not mess up any other setting which I had. 11. If you want to make it where some of the switches work 100% accurately; Like three positions has some issues. But it works good enough for me. But I found this guy's post where he supplies a Lua script to make these settings work better. I will link below, but I have not downloaded it, so I can not say if it works with the current version of DCS or not. Hopefully this will save some time for others. Happy Holiday's Dave. Chase1399 Hornet Driver.
  2. Attached Hope this helps. Dave SLAM1.trk
  3. Load the SLAM AGM-84E with data link, one Aim 120c amraam, and rest Mav's-F's. Then go to stores, and choose Aim 120C missile, when you go to select tgt sizes the "SLAM" is overlaying the Aim 120 tgt size option, the one on the right. Hopefully this makes sense. Just cosmetic. Dave Edit: I was using the Left DDI.
  4. We are looking for like minded pilots who enjoy flying relaxing but entertaining Modern Fighter missions. Myself and five others get together once a month, on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm EST ( USA ) . We fly just for the enjoyment of simple missions. We've been flying together for a few years now. Most of us live in the States, and the others live overseas. So this is why we fly at 2pm EST. Our missions last approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. We make them somewhat easy so even if you do get shot down You'll have an option to start from the Ground again, ( Or Super Carrier ) or a slot where your aircraft is already in the air close to the combat area, so you can get back in the action without taking off again. *( During the Month leading up to Mission Day, we will all be in Communication as to select a Sunday which works for everyone. I will also inquire as to what loadouts you'd prefer, as well as which Fighter you want to fly. - You will have a Briefing in the Mission knee-board, which will give you possible Targets to look out for. You will recieve a PDF mission briefing about a week before the Mission. - Current Fighters which we fly are the FA18 Hornet, F16 Viper, F14 Tomcat. and attack Helo's ( I personally only Fly the Hornet ) * Map's which will be required: Persian Gulf, Syria maps. * MOD's which will be required: Any Modern fighter will work. - If you choose to Fly the Hornet with Carrier ops, the Super Carrier will also be required. Not a Deal breaker though, as I will give you a start position at a Ground Base if you do not own the SC. But if your a Hornet Driver with the SC, you will be in my Group. - We use SRS for comms, and Teamspeak VOIP running in the background. We use Teamspeak to get set up, then switch to SRS once live, depending on mission goals. - We also have a dedicated server. It's time to expand out little group. We are looking to expand only to 8-10 Pilots. To be a good fit with our group, please adhere to these standards. * Be on time * Be at least 30 YOA, ( Just a rough age limit to promote maturity levels. ) our ages range from 30's to 50's and up. * Must Honer the time and date commitments. Must be organized and reliable. ( Nothing is worse then putting together a mission for say 6 people, then only have 2 show up. If you can't dedicate 2 hours once a month to this group, then don't apply ) We are not a training squadron. You will need to be familiar with the basics of the Aircraft you choose to fly. This is not to say you can't ask questions. Heck, we get updates from ED all the time and things change all the time. So naturally none of us are going to be experts with this stuff. If any of this sounds interesting to you, we are looking for just a few people to join our Sunday Flying Day. Post below any questions you may have and if you are interested. If your interested, reply below or you can PM me. Thanks, I hope everyone stays safe and has a good week. Chase1399
  5. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Nine line gives two coords. So i enter the data og of current flight plan add a new WP (#10). Then ufc to enter both N & W coordinates into the WP Data pg. So then when i switch back to hsi pg and switch to my new wp 10 it shows the waypoint is + 2000 miles away. I've entered in new wp's before so not sure. The only thing i can think of is using the STD HDG option doesn't give you the best precision?. But it shows. 05 & ok. Then i switch to IFA . Maybe i need to enter a grid too?. Anyway. Just wanting to use the new waypoint for the tgp to slew. But there is no altitude from nine line either. Dave.

  7. + 1. I'll make sure I TO before he does next time. But I wanted to report this as well. SMOKE does take off, then lands immediately after. Even after I took off which was maybe 30 seconds after he does. * Also for what ever reason the rainy weather only displays rain randomly for Miz 2. I had to restart the mission like 3 times before it would take. I feel this is a Beta issue and not related to your handy work. More of an ED Bug I'm thinking. 2nd topic. In Mission one, the Carrier group is still firing on the Iranian patrol boat. Are we shore all the fixes made it into Beta 2.5.6.54046? Overall. These are little things. As a mission designer, I can appreciate the amount of work that went into this be that of all the parties involved. Great work and loads of fun. Even when it doesn't go as planed. But does anything really go as planed these days lol. Thanks. Dave.
  8. Redkite i believe. Here you go. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3309905/ And instructions
  9. "my advice is to do just that and then run mission 3A from the campaign folder separately just to finish it - you will start behind the tanker." That will work. So some missions will have a part A or B and use this as a way to manually continue. Sounds good. Thanks. I'll be picking this up. I've read nothing but steller reviews. : ). Dave.
  10. I read on a FB post that the Autosave feature was being worked on. I've read mission 3 takes close to 3 hours. Has today's DCS Beta update added in the save feature? How does it work?. Thanks. Dave
  11. Hello Mr. Voight. With current PiTool and streamVr etc.... do these changes still help? I'm using the VR Shader Mod as well. On the Super Carrier, I'm lucky to get 18 fps. Do you have any suggestions? I have the Pimax 5K XR version. Thanks. Dave
  12. That's interesting that the rift S too does not have the crosshairs. Thank you for your help.
  13. Hi all, with a 161 pages of this thread, it was to much to skim though for answers. So I'll just ask. I have the Pimax 5K XR version. How do you guys adjust the IPD. Unlike the Oculus, where there was a green crosshair, the Pimax has none. But it does have a slider wheel and further adjustments in the software. I just have no idea which way to slide the IPD. I think I have it on 64 ipd. I get eye strain while flying. Even more so if I turn off the parallel Projection option in the Pimax settings. But that comes with a performance hit. I know DCS has added there own native parallel Projection but with only that on, I do get the cross eyes and way worse eye strain. In short, I don't know how to adjust the IPD. hopefully that alone will help. Thanks. Dave.
  14. @Harker Like others have said.. It's nice to see people stepping up and helping others when there is so much finger pointing lately, that this is a pleasant change. I copied the (materials.lua ) over to C:\DCS\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\ and overwrote the file. ( After backing it up ) The plane loaded correctly, but when the Sun hits the DDI it still kind of washes out the screen with reflections. Is this MOD only for the HUD, or is there a different file for the DDI's? I think it does provide some help over the stock version. Otherwise the HUD looks much brighter So thanks for that. I'm running current beta 2.5.6.50793 I also run Kegetys VR Shaders mod. Thanks. Dave
  15. Ah ok. That's right! It's been a while since I've flown these and it was the mission 2. Thank you.
  16. Finally thanks to ED, I can finally play this mission. I also added another 16 gigs of RAM so now I have a full 32 gigs @ 3200 Mhz. The only lag I found was when the bombers ( F10 Less units ) dropped their bombs. But it was much improved from before. Well before it was not playable. No fault of the Miz developer. So Happy I can finally fly this. The only issues I ran across was two triggers which normally activate some call outs. I had switched to Ch. C like in the Briefing. When I got to the FLAK area, no one called out "Look out for the FLAK!" This was there in the past. The other change was I never heard the warning of Aircraft leaving some airfield in France. "group of 109's leaving ...." I seem to remember hearing this in the past. Maybe some of the triggers got messed up with the updates. However, this was flown on DCS V2.5.6.50321 not the most current. V.2.5.6.50726, where I read there were some updates done to this mission. So maybe it was fixed for the current beta. I also noticed that regardless of ch I was tuned to, I could not reach the TWR and never got landing clearance. Maybe the airport freqs got messed up in the updates. That happens to the little missions I make for myself. And last, the other units ware landing the wrong way. The winds were 280 at 8-10 kts. So they should land from Right to Left, on that runway, which looks like it could be runway 26 or something close. But instead they were landing with a tail wind. How does the AI pick their landing runway? Anyway, thanks for a fun mission. Dave.

    TGTPOD Laser

Very good info. I didn't know you could set the sweep zone. Cool. Thanks to you all. Dave

    TGTPOD Laser

Ah ok. So i should maybe wait a few seconds before aborting the scan. I thought maybe it would be instantaneous. Thank you for the help. I'll try again.
  19. So i set up a quick JTAC miz. Using the T-Pod to find the laser. I press the LSS button and the tgt pod goes to a dark screen and doesn't appear to be scanning anything. Maybe the steps have changed?. Master arm was on and all pod switches were on. Maybe there is a new step to take before turning on / boxing lss? Thanks, Dave
  20. I tried with the latest Mod. Thanks for putting this together. I can't imagine how much work goes into this. Anyway, I still had the water reflections in the Pimax Headset. But that could be SteamVr. Turning the water textures to LOW fixes it. No more reflections, but also don't have any white caps. But I'm fine with that. It gave a slight performance boost. : ) I can now sit on the new SC with SteamVr at 100% PD 1.1 and runs smooth. Also @speed-of-heat Great work. Your screen shots of settings also helped. Dave.
  21. Maybe just a fresh install of PiTool will work. I updated Pitool to 255 and no longer have the options to select my FOV. Strange change. DCS require a IT degree
  22. Thank you for the suggestion! Regarding the links in your Signature you have two relating to the VR Mod. ( Shaders MOD for VR and / Shaders MOD for VR with IC pass and clear water ) Being this is a water issue, and I don't care about IC since I mainly play single player, which if not all the links should I download? One of the options says clear water, so is that the one i need to try out? Thanks. Dave
  23. the water reflections are stuck to my head movements. They appear, and only reflect off the water, but will not go away. I am flying the Hornet off of the SC. I DL the most current MOD for VR. Only increases FPS by 5 for me. So I will place the orig shaders back for now. I know there needs to be a new shader built for this current MOD. Just letting you know what I encountered. I'm also using the Pimax 5K XR, with SteamVr. Not sure if SteamVr is causing this or not, since not many others are saying they are encountering this issue. I will try again, once a new MOD has been released. Or maybe some water MOD might fix this? IDK. But anyway, it's just DCS stuff right lol. Dave.
