  1. Very interesting. This is the first time I notice that. Can you share me the corresponding acmi file?
  2. Indeed! I have tested just DCS 1.5.8 beta and it does not work. According to DCS World log, this is because of the following error in DCS internal LUA scripts (somewhere in the menus) which prevents Tacview and any other external add-on to be executed. Let’s hope this will be fixed in the final build. 00134.729 ALERT LUACOMMON: Error: GUI Error: [string "./dxgui/bind/Window.lua"]:110: Invalid arguments! GUI debug.traceback: stack traceback: [C]: ? 3. It’s Black Friday! Fri 24th to Mon 28th: Get Tacview at 40% off, or up to 70% off on group orders!
  4. The new video playback feature is available in the latest beta version of Tacview 1.7.0 to the owners of a Tacview Standard or Tacview Advanced licence. Click one the menu options called “Media” to open up-to 4 windows. In each window, you can load any audio/video file which is supported by your system (Windows DirectShow codecs). Typically, you can open audio mp3 and video mp4 files. With the slider, you can intuitively synchronize the media with the 3D view of Tacview. Each media will then be played back accordingly to the current 3D view time, following any pause, seek, fast forward and backward manipulation. This feature is sponsored by the French Air Force and is very useful to playback real-life GoPro video or the audio chat of an online flight with your squadron in addition to the usual debriefing.
  5. Here are some answers to your questions: The aircraft sensor position is coming, this is just a matter of time :) (under the condition the data is exposed by DCS World, which is aircraft dependent) I tried to export the pilot head position once without any success, I will try another technique as soon as I have the time. This will probably work only for the local aircraft. I do not think the AI head positions are accurate enough to provide any relevant information (not talking about Jester which is still unavailable) The sensor data merge may be already working, but I did not have the time to test/polish this feature. The batch telemetry export is planned too, but this may be for Tacview 1.8. The new video playback is perfectly synchronized with the Telemetry, in just a few clicks you can load up to 4 audio/video files and review then side by side with the telemetry. I will add shortcuts for to playback faster/slower the data.
  6. Create VFR maps for Tacview in just a few minutes! Jacques ‘Detox’ Deyrieux has just released Mapview 1.0.0, a great program to create VFR maps for Tacview in just a few minutes! Simply add the region of your choice in the maps.ini file (do not forget to add the region in the GLOBAL section of the ini file). Launch Mapview. Adjust some of the parameters, and click [Go!]. Three new jpg textures modes have been added to Tacview 1.7.0 beta 2: adaptive black & white, adaptive color, and transparent. They will be available soon, till Tacview 1.7.0 beta 2 is released, make sure the blending mode is set to [Normal]. The next version of this wonderful program will be able to generate maps with OpenStreetMap as well as orthophoto from Bing maps! Thumbs up to Detox! Mapview is available here: http://www.tacview.net/download/addons/#mapview Blending modes available in Tacview 1.7.0 beta 2:
  7. Hi GGTharos, How slow would you like to be able to playback flights? Tacview is working with time only, not “frames”. How much time do you think a “frame” should ideally represent? I would need some samples and concrete examples of data you are currently studying, with an example on how it should look like, so I can better understand your needs. Can you provide me with some files / screenshots / mock-up of the data you are interested in?
  8. It is not yet possible to switch between magnetic and true heading. I can add the option in the next release. Where would you like to see the magnetic or the true heading?
  9. The media playback feature is currently available in Tacview 1.7 beta 1 to all registered users.
  10. The acmi file format has not been changed for months now. Did you add ReferenceLongitude and ReferenceLatitude to the recorded coordinates to get the final values?
  11. The new media feature enables you to playback up to four audio/video files synchronized with the telemetry playback (the 3D view). You can also set audio balance to left or right to physically split multiple audio recordings for example. (e.g. you can playback the blue guys audio on the left speaker and the red guys on the right speaker)
  12. I have planned to export more telemetry from FC3 aircraft whenever possible. Which means that the G displayed in Tacview will be the same as the ones displayed in your cockpit. Now, for the export frequency, can you give me more detailed report of the issues you may have noticed? Can you share me some track files and corresponding acmi files and tell me more about the data which are not updated frequently enough? The current exporter dynamically adjusts the export frequency based on the importance of the corresponding object. For example, the local aircraft is exported at about 8Hz to 10Hz which should be more than enough compared to pilot and aircraft body reaction time.
  13. Tacview Starter edition should be able to read any data from DCS World without limitation. My guess is that your zip file is corrupted because of a DCS World crash. If your file is corrupted, you can use DCS World special options -> Tacview to ask the exporter to not compress the data in zip file format so the file should be readable even after a DCS World crash.
  14. G is currently calculated based on aircraft movement. It may be slightly different from the one indicated in the cockpit, but it should be accurate enough in most situations. I may be able to export the indicated G, but this will depend on each aircraft. Do you have a specific example in mind? What aircraft are you talking about? Which versions of Tacview are you mentioning?
  15. Tacview 1.6.4 is available! This intermediate release is manly focused on fixes and brings several improvements which have been requested for a long time (like the look-at dogfight camera). Tacview 1.7 is already in development and will offer improved modules and tools related to customization. Like a new and smart database for the objects of the battlefield, as well as new module to manage navaids, airspaces, runways, ILS and so on. Enjoy! Vyrtuoz Download: http://tacview.net/download FEATURES & CHANGES • Added support for NMEA 0183 GPS files • Added a Look-at camera mode to the dogfight camera • Added IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Kuban terrain • When not available, magnetic heading is now calculated using IGRF-12 models • The line-of-sight between selected objects is now displayed in red when obstructed by terrain • Attitude indicator, HIS and HUD heading indicator are now emulated when no rotation information is available • Real-time telemetry and remote-control TCP ports can now be customized in DCS World exporter options • Gear handle status is now recorded by FSX2ACMI • It is now possible to mouse-hover buildings to display any available debug info • Tacview will now display if the file is authentic, not altered since its recording • Added more predefined types in the object properties editor • You can now double click to restore the default aircraft trail size • Boosted by a factor of two terrain texture resolution for the highest level of detail • Updated BMS Ostsee theater to version 3.28.88 • Added BMS Nordic 2.0 theater FIXES • Mouse input (rotation, zoom...) is now giving the same result regardless on screen DPI • Flaps status is now properly recorded for all FSX aircraft (e.g. A2A ones) • Export Flight Log was not always working with Falcon 4.0 flight recordings • The last lines of nmea and text acmi files was not always read (regression) • Custom rectangular terrain textures were not always properly displayed • Objects violating altitudes restrictions were not blinking anymore • Debug console and log now properly output a full date including seconds • Fixed multiple minor bugs in dockable windows • The exporter will now properly work when the user’s name contains dots • ExportFlightLog command was not exporting csv files when multiple file extension was used
  16. I understand now. It is fixed in Tacview 1.6.4 final.
  17. @Wingthor, Your batch file is working well if I change Tacview executable path for the current one: C:\Program Files (x86)\Tacview\Tacview.exe Could that be your problem?
  18. If you are talking about Just Dogfight running DCS 1.5, it looks like it prohibits any data export (see the attached screenshot). You may want to record your flight after a flight, by playing back the DCS World track file. This should work well with Tacview 1.6.3 and will generate a proper acmi file.
  19. You are correct: each aircraft is a specific case in DCS World. So far, I have done my best to export has much data as possible with the default functions available to me. I have planned to experiment a bit deeper as soon as possible. If it works, I might be able to export more from third party aircraft in the future.
  20. I am glad to hear that Tacview is working well for all generations :)
  21. The answer may be in Tacview documentation http://www.tacview.net/documentation/dcs/ If you are flying solo, a corrupted DCS lua add-on may prevent Tacview exporter from running check Q16. If you are flying online, data export may be fully disabled by the host. check Q21 and Q22.
  22. Vicx is right: it is a very complex task to export all the static objects from DCS World maps. Right now, the exporter is exporting all the objects exposed by DCS World interface. This includes some, but not all, of the objects related to the mission like the bunkers. In a future update, I will try to export some of the buildings.
  23. I have tested the flight log export with Tacview 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 and it is working well. I get a csv log when I ask for one. Can you share the exact batch file you are using to do so?
  24. You are right, the texture resolution is limited by the current terrain engine. In Tacview 2.0 textures resolution will be limited only by your graphic card capabilities. Where can I download the JPEG 2000 textures you are talking about? Are they free? Can you share me several tiles? I will see if I can stretch a bit more Tacview 1.x engine capabilities.
  25. @HiJack Have you tried the Left/Right arrows to play backward and forward in time? Also, try to press Left+Right mouse buttons at the same time and drag to move smoothly and accurately in time. @LeCuvier I have done my best to find a speed which is working well with all devices I could put my hand one. Also, Tacview is supposed to work fine with hi definition mouse wheel. Are you using a specific “mouse” device? Did you change the default settings in Windows regarding the mouse wheel speed? Are you using specific drivers? @xBloodshed I did not have the time yet to add the option. I will do my best to make it available in Tacview 1.6.4.
