  1. Thanks for the feedback! I have notified Mapview developer about that.
  2. Tacview 1.7.0 is working with a brand-new database and 3D models. It is just a matter of time before being able to see your favorite aircraft. Now, I don’t recall Tacview 1.6 having a proper IL-78 3D model. But I think that I can add one in a coming release.
  3. Tacview 1.7.0 is working fine with DCS World 2.5. The DCS World telemetry export interface is quite slow and is directly proportional to your CPU performance and the amount of mission objects in the map (not the buildings). With a modern system, in the average mission, the impact may be between 1 and 4 %. With a map with 1K+ mission objects the impact may be around 10%. This is something you can easily check even with the demo/free version of Tacview: In DCS world options menu -> Special -> Tacview -> Profiling period: 1 minute Then fly for several minutes in your typical mission. Exit and open the dcs.log file somewhere in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.*\DCS.log. Search for “Tacview” until you find the entries which details the performance cost of Tacview exporter.
  4. Interesting question! While you can redefine joystick controls to remotely control you flight simulator with Tacview, it is not currently possible to redefine the camera controls for Tacview 3D view. This gave me an idea about something related. I may be able to do something about it in a coming update.
  5. Tacview cannot read DCS trk files. This is impossible, because only DCS World can simulate the world corresponding to the data recorded in trk files. One thing you can do: to playback trk file in DCS World, this will record a new acmi file. Handy if you played on an online server which do not authorize telemetry export.
  6. Very strange, this is the first time someone is reporting an error at the install! Anyway, Tacview is very simple in practice, so if you can launch the application and the DCS World exporter is generating files, you are good to go!
  7. I did not have the time yet to add the “new” Nevada airports… Soon, with the new static object module, it will be easy to do so. The clock time displayed in Tacview is the UTC time. I did not have the time yet to add support for an optional local time. The old TacviewGameGUI.lua is obsolete, it is here for compatibility with older versions of DCS World. It will be dropped in the next version of Tacview.
  8. Tacview 1.7.0 is now available! At last, the long-awaited update is here! Download: http://tacview.net/download First, I'd like to give special thanks to the French Air Force, for sponsoring some of the major improvements in this version and accepting them to be published in the public version of Tacview. That way the whole community can benefit from the idea and support of everyone! The first major improvement in this new version is a brand-new objects database. The old code has been replaced by clean and powerful module which can smartly analyse, in real-time, objects types and names to properly display the right 3D models and properties. In other words: no more surface-to-air missiles displayed like tanks! Another important feature of this module: you can now dynamically change *any* object property, and the result will instantaneously be displayed on screen without the need of reloading the file. This further improves the real-time telemetry as well as opening new possibilities like unidentified radar contacts, airbases captures, and so on… This new database is fully customizable. Numerous 3D models have been already added, and new objects declarations are added every day. A dedicated documentation will soon explain how to extend the new database by adding your own declarations (especially handy when you are flying real-life aircraft which are not yet declared in Tacview): http://www.tacview.net/documentation/database/ The other new feature available to the proud owners of Tacview Standard and Tacview Advanced is the new synchronized media player. You can now play up to four (4) audio/video files synchronized with the 3D view! Very handy to playback the video of in-game HUD, instruments, squadron chat and even real-time GoPro videos! Because this new media player is based on the installed Windows codecs, all your favorite video formats should be supported. You can read the following release notes to know more about the usual numerous improvements and fixes provided by this update. Now that the new database is working and stable, I can start working on a brand-new module. But this is a surprise. I will tell you more about it as soon as I have something working ;) Vyrtuoz Video playback Filling up the new database FEATURES & CHANGES Added synchronized audio/video playback (up to four media at the same time) Brand new fully customizable objects properties database Added numerous new 3d models Improved helicopters and propeller aircraft models Integrated BMS Nordic theater version 2.1 Integrated BMS Pillars of Hercules theater 0.7.8.6 Tacview now supports GAE files with lines ending in blank characters GAE object rotation is now automatically emulated when provided data is invalid KML files hierarchical styles and aliases are now supported The registered license key is now displayed in the “About” dialog box Unknown objects will now be displayed with the generic triangle plane shape Added support for transparent objects for 3d models (typically used for propellers) An error message is now displayed in the debug console when a declared 3D model cannot be loaded It is now possible to not display the transponder code from the labels Improved VHS files merge (when Falcon does not provide all information) Objects groups can now be edited directly from Tacview Added support for Dynon Skyview EFIS csv files Added /Authenticate command line option which returns -1 when all loaded documents are authentic FIXES Updated DCS World exporter to support DCS 1.5.8 and 2.2.0 Upgraded Tacview clock to improve synchronization during online debriefing or media playback Tacview is now gracefully handling distorted aircraft orientation in BMS Theaters (notably Nordic and Ostsee) GAE files with longitudes of exactly 0 were not properly loaded Tacview is now using the date provided in GAE file name before using last file change time as a reference Line number displayed in error messages was not correct with files randomly mixing CR/LF characters The event log was not always detailed when loading a flight from a different source as before Fixed Z-fighting on threats domes AGL/ASL limits where not always properly displayed in charts Pitch angle was inverted when exporting object rotation telemetry from the charts Fixed crash when loading VHS files containing invalid (NaN) data

  10. 1) You are probably running the Steam version of DCS World. In that case, simply restart Steam, this should propagate the export directory settings to DCS World Steam edition. 2) Install Tacview 1.7 beta (the non-beta should be available today), this will fix the export options as well as the exporter.
  11. Tacview 1.7.0 final should be released in two more weeks. Meanwhile, you may want to delete your export.lua file and reinstall the latest beta to fix your current export issues. (I believe that your export.lua may be corrupted)
  12. You can install Tacview 1.7.0 beta without a product key. Even if you will not be able to run the main application, this will fix DCS World exporter. And while waiting for the final release, you can continue to use, in parallel, the main application 1.6.4.
  13. That was probably the 0.01% downtime of the year for every website :) Please try to install the latest beta of Tacview 1.7.0, this will fix the option menu as well as your export with the latest versions of DCS World. If the option menu is still not visible afterward, please share me your dcs.log file.
  14. Thank you for the data. I used it to fill the new database. Because DCS World events are not always accurate, Tacview must guess what happened. In your case Tacview thought that the flak which has fired at your aircraft earlier has touched you. This kind of error should be reduced whenever I will have the time to rewrite the event log module.
  15. @Captain Orso Can you share the corresponding acmi file? I will have a look at it and see if there is something to fix in Tacview labels. The numbers like [002 – 000] are the flight level and ground speed "ATC style". You can hide it with the label menu in the bottom toolbar.
  16. The latest beta of Tacview contains the fix for the latest versions of DCS World. You can install it even if you do not have a product key, this will fix the menu as well as the exporter: http://www.tacview.net/download/beta/ If you still do have issues after that, it is likely that you have a corrupted export.lua file. The simplest fix, is to delete the file and reinstall Tacview 1.7.0+. A more elaborate fix is to manually fix the content of export.lua. You will find a solution to 99% of export problems in the official documentation: http://www.tacview.net/documentation/dcs/
  17. Indeed, this video show the results of an nice experiment. I have planned to export static buildings in a future update of the exporter. This is tricky to program, that's why I did not have the time to do it yet.
  18. The invisible options menu has been fixed in the latest beta of Tacview 1.7.0. You can install it side by side with the 1.6.4 even if you do not have a Standard or Advanced licence. This should fix your problem with the newer versions of DCS World.
  19. I think that your export options are fine, they do not affect the amount of information available during the play (putting aside possible debug info). It is possible that the AI aircraft do not have any pilot name, or the pilot name may not be displayed to reduce clutter. in that case, when you mouse over the AI aircraft, you may see more information displayed. The raw telemetry window may help you do see what is really available for each object.

  22. Zarma, have you tried after rebooting your system? Make sure you do not have any resident programs like teamspeak, which is trying to inject 3D data in Tacview window. Programs like that tend to not behave well with old school OpenGL renderer (fraps work fine though). If this still does not work, can you remember what hardware or software you may have installed on your system since the last time Tacview worked fine?
  23. Can you share your current export.lua file at tell me what is its full path? I will see if I missed something...
  24. Follow-up: It seems that ED has changed the way their menus work. So, I have updated the special option menu. The fix will be in the next beta of Tacview 1.7.0
  25. Fix for DCS World 2.2.0 and 1.5.8 *THE FOLLOWING IS NOW OBSOLETE* Please, simply update your Tacview installation to 1.7.0+ Fix for DCS World 1.5.8 and 2.2.0 DCS World 1.5.8 and 2.2.0 have changed the way some LUA addons are working. This is why telemetry export does not work well with these versions. Here is how to fix the issue while waiting for Tacview 1.7.0: Go in the \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\ folder which correspond to your edition of DCS World Create a subfolder \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\Hooks\ Move \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\TacviewGameGUI.lua in \Saved Games\DCS.*\Scripts\Hooks\ This fix has been integrated in Tacview 1.7.0 About Tacview options menu in DCS ED team is investigating the issue of Tacview special menu which is not displayed in DCS World. Meanwhile, you can manually open the file \Saved Games\DCS.*\Config\options.lua and edit the Tacview section which should look like the following. If you do not see this section, you may have to copy paste it manually into the options.lua file. ["Tacview"] = { ["bookmarkShortcut"] = 0, ["dataRecordingEnabled"] = true, ["debugModeEnabled"] = true, ["playbackDelay"] = 0, ["profilingPeriod"] = 60, ["recordClientsSessionsEnabled"] = true, ["tacviewBookmarkShortcut"] = 0, ["tacviewCompressionLevel"] = 1, ["tacviewDataRecordingEnabled"] = true, ["tacviewDebugModeEnabled"] = false, ["tacviewPlaybackDelay"] = 600, ["tacviewProfilingPeriod"] = 600, ["tacviewRealTimeTelemetryPort"] = "42674", ["tacviewRecordClientsSessionsEnabled"] = false, ["tacviewRemoteControlPort"] = "42675", },
