People have such a hard time understanding what I'm trying to say... *sigh*... I'm only questioning the fact that a guy claiming to be a crew chief comes on here and says he'll give us lessons in using the systems in the A10C. Crew chiefs don't know how to use the systems in flight. People on here are immediatly think of him as some kind of invulnerable god. It's blasphemy to rationally question anything obvious... I never said I know everything. READ people, learn to READ. I'm more interested in a real A10C pilot to tell us about how the systems work and how they're used, using which procedures. THAT'd be cool. But a crew chief telling us some stuff, that's nice too. Just don't see the link with flying and using the systems.
-
Lol, funny aussies :)
-
Well Aussieboy, seeing the fact that I regularly use or have used identical or comparable systems like the ones in the A10C, I think I can say what I said. And it's a sunday, mate.
-
Yeah, background info is always good. But do realize, what I can tell from my experience, crew chiefs/technicians often don't have the slightest clue about how to convert the systems knowledge into using it in actual flight. Not the slightest clue really. So I dunno what the crew chief has said last night, or maybe he's a really special crew chief that knows how pilots operate the systems, but I'd take it with a huge grain of salt.

Exactly true ishtmail. And this is a FLIGHT simulator. You fly in it. I know how to USE the systems to fly. The mechanic knows how the systems are BUILT so he can REPAIR them. This is a FLIGHT simulator. Not an ENGINEERING simulator. So yeah, that's my point. Makes a lot of sense, no?

Well... who knows, maybe the temperature doesn't change with altitude. There's no way to tell if the temp gauge or the weather model is defective...
-
Lol, what's that supposed to mean timekilla?
-
Where's the temp gauge? Thought it was missing!

Depending on the individuals physical state, hypoxia can already kick in around 8000-10000ft, although it will take some time, like 30 mins at least, I can't recall these times exactly. At altitudes of around 27000 feet, expect to have around 2-3 minutes of consciousness. I did this myself in a hypobaric chamber and I lasted a little over five minutes before getting back on oxygen. The thing is, how would you want to see this simulated in DCS??? You can not simulate an increased heartrate, low blood saturation, loss of mental capability, euphoria, etc etc... maybe the screen could be made blurry, but that's about it I think.

Having AI helicopters land normally...
Robert1983NL replied to Robert1983NL's topic in Mission Editor
Haven't checked that yet, but what does it matter?? An approwch to a runway does look different yes. -
Us mere mortals.... lol, seriously? I myself probably know more about most systems in the A10C than a crew chief. Do you really think a crew chief is some kind of god? Come on dude... stop worshipping and get back into reality. So... was it any good? Not many reactions. I wonder what's been said and done, would like to see a recording.
-
No, ofcourse not, but it just doesn't make sense when a crewchief says he'll teach us about avionics. Doesn't make sense at all.

Having AI helicopters land normally...
Robert1983NL replied to Robert1983NL's topic in Mission Editor
Ì tried adding more waypoints to slow down the approach. It doesn't help... It still takes too long to land and it looks too clumsy. :( Anyone some other ideas? -
A crewchief has 0,0 experience with operating the systems during flight. So I ask my question again, why bother?
-
Why bother really? All the info is in the flight manual. Don't think a crew chief could tell you any more than that.

transport helicopter with infantry transport missions
Robert1983NL replied to pocococo's topic in DCS Wishlist
Infantry AI should be one of the highest priorities for future DCS updates... It's HORRIBLE right now. There's a LOT to be won. Besides the Huey we really DO need the Chinook yeah, that'd be SO awesome! Slingloads would really need a loadmaster/flight engineer onboard to do some voice marshalling, because it'd be impossible to do without one, or two. -
Hey guys, I'm working on a big air assault mission in which I need AI helicopters landing on landing sites. Right now, the landing looks like shit. The last waypoint before landing is planned at 98' AGL 120kts. Then it zooms up (to reduce speed?) and comes back down again, then slowly proceeds to the landing site, hovers above it, goes a little bit back, a little bit forward, a little bit up, down, before it FINALLY lands. This sucks monkeyballs. Is there any way to get the AI helicopters to land a little more smoothly? Also... Why is 98' AGL the lowest available height? I want my helicopters to fly lower! FYI, the AI helicopters I'm working with right now are CH47D's.

So this guy must be an absolute poser then, if he already says it's gonna take hours tonight, and there'll be follow on lessons. Should be funny :)
-
Lol. Pretty funny. I thought I was being civilized when calling these nitpickers in this thread unhealthy. Can't bring it anymore civil than that, cuz you don't want to know what I really think :) Don't worry about my mental capabilities, they well above average. Maybe explains some of the arrogance. :)
-
Nice! Maybe I'll get one! Thanks for sharing!
-
Thanks Paul, this was exactly what I meant earlier when I asked the question about what a crew chief actually knows about procedures. While it's nice to have someone explain all the basics of the systems, it would be awesome if a real A10C pilot would tell us a little bit about how to actually USE the systems.
-
Just a quick question because I'm kind of confused here... A crew chief does maintenance right? He doesn't actually use the systems, he just knows how they work, correct? My question is, how and what do you know about actual procedures?
-
Well, I guess there's two kinds of people in the flightsim community then. I'm glad to be on the side that has the flying and having fun as a top priority.
-
OMG!!! The rotor masted is canted backward 1 degree too much! OMG, look at the rotor blades, the pitch is way off! Lol... Who gives a flying ****, the thing flies and handles really well and it looks better than anything else on the market, most likely even better then a multi million dollar actual Huey simulator. Nitpicking. Priorities. If you want something fixed about the Huey, discuss how easy the Huey gets in a settling with power situation. Not at what angle the blades are. You couldn't even see that in real life with the blades turning. And an 18 year old kiddo with SO well defined priorities in life... I nearly pissed my pants lol.

Can't you just use TrackIR? Or FacetracknoIR?
