  1. This thread just proves that the Huey by Belsimtek is just about perfect, actually. (Just fix the sensitivity to settling with power and we're good :) )
  2. LMAO. Is this guy for real??!!
  3. I'd say it would come in handy for not crashing into the ground :)
  4. I'm trying this now... How do I have the troops that I 'have on board' group activate right near the Huey?
  5. Yeah I know, but I want it to be ANY location, not a previously determined one.
  6. Hey KAMOV, what have you done exactly? Now the troops aren't deployed by the Huey anymore, and I'm missing 3 insurgents, and the other group of insurgents isn't moving still.
  7. Wow! Nice! I'm a DCS noob who just started on mission designing, and this sounds exactly like something I need. I want to be able to block a convoy of cars by landing in front of them and arresting a guy in one of the cars.
  8. Hey guys, I wanna simulate carrying troops in my Hueys which I can drop off anywhere I want to, not at a predetermined location. I want to be able to block a driving car, so that it stops, then another Huey lands behind it and drops off troops. Since it's a driving car, the troop drop off location can be anywhere you stop the car. Is this possible to create in the Mission Editor?
  9. TeteT, I've tried your debugging script. It seems to me the flags work as they should, the troops just don't respond like I want them to. To make it all very clear (hopefully), I made this screenshot:
  10. I have seen enemy infantry moving. I can make simple tasks for enemy infantry and they'll move. The problem starts when I'm using triggers. UPDATE: I have updated the mission a little bit, the link in the opening post has been updated. No big changes, just small things I worked on while the main problem still remains.
  11. Hey Wess, thanks! But I just flew the mission, and nothing changed. The western insurgents still won't move... The eastern hardly, only two of them move. Very weird... It must be something simple I think...
  12. I've tried implementing the script by creating a trigger, CONTINUOUS, PLAYER IN ZONE, DO SCRIPT. But, now it gives me an error pop up every second.
  13. Thanks for your reply. Wow, that lua stuff is still way too complicated for me. But as I understand it I have to implement this script somewhere to check if the flags work? Where do I put the script? Also, I just found out that the troops that I intended to move, start moving WAY LATER than intended, after I've departed with the Huey. Is it maybe because they're scared they hear the chopper and they freeze in place? Also, they will not ALL move at once, and they won't continue past all of their waypoints...
  14. Come on guys... Almost 50 views in this thread, only 2 downloads of my mission, and 0 replies... :( I want to continue building! :D
  15. Hey guys, I'm very enthousiastic about DCS and about the Huey. I'm a total noob though. Discovered DCS only 1,5 months ago, but totally addicted. Now I've started working on missions. I plan to make realistic and immersive, short, action-packed missions, focused on the Huey. BUT, like I said, I'm a noob, and I'm running into problems. I've attached the MIZ file so if you guys could please download it and check it out to see what the problem is? :helpsmilie: If you've downloaded the file and fly the mission, you'll find yourself in a Huey flying north. Continue flying, after a couple seconds you'll see two green smoke markers. Land at the left smoke marker. After 10 seconds the troops you've got on board deplane. So far everything goes as I've planned it. BUT. The moment you land on the ground (I've defined this trigger with the conditions 'speed is less than 1' and 'altitude is less than 920' (Is 920' (MSL) correct, or can I just use '1'?)) the enemy group called 'NMY grp startled at ORANGE' is supposed to start moving. BUT THEY DON'T. And I don't understand why.... They did earlier, but when I added some more triggered actions, it stopped working. ALSO, 30 seconds after the first green smoke is thrown, I've group activated 'NMY RPG' to run to LZ PURPLE. They DO activate (simulating they're running outside of a hangar), but they don't follow their designated waypoints... WHY NOT? Please help me guys, and I'll promise to produce some realistic immersive missions the next couple of months! :-P You can find the mission on my rapidshare account: http://rapidshare.com/files/3626155798/GRIZZLY%20Air%20Raid%20v0.1.miz !!!EDIT!!! I updated my mission a little bit in the mean time, problem remained.
  16. Have you tried looking at the lights with your NVG's on?
  17. Vortex Ring State, more commonly referred to as settling with power, is very unrealistic in the DCS Huey. In real life, you'd have to try hard to get into a settling with power situation, as opposed to the Huey in-game, which is way too prone to the condition.
  18. Hey guys, I'm a supernoob, started playing DCS no longer than 2 months ago, but I'm totally addicted to it. Since I'm pretty comfortable with the A10C and UH-1 now, I'm broadening my scope and I've started messing around with the Mission Editor. I'm really enthousiastic about it and I've got some hurdles to take ofcourse, but google is my friend and I'll eventually get there. Right now I'm making a single player mission for the UH-1. I'll probably make it compatible for multi player as well (max 4 players, short fast mission). I don't want to start simple, I want to start all out, so I need to learn most aspects of the Mission Editor. One of my top priorities for this mission, and other missions I'll create in the future is immersion. I want the player's heart beating as they rush into action! Hehe, no idea if I can achieve this, but having played simple Huey missions with the music on the FM I know that -speaking for myself at least- cool missions with the Huey gets you going easy enough :) Anyway, lots of blablabla, like I said, I want the player to experience as much immersion as I can offer. This means I'm gonna have a throw at voice acting. BUT, it would be nice if there was a program that could help me with that. Do you guys know a program that can: -Make a recording sound like it's a radio transmission -Mix in explosion sounds, gunfire etc -Make a recording sound like a different person (I'm gonna be the one recording all messages lol, so it would be nice if it could make it sound like another person) -Make a recording sound like it's coming from a jet or helicopter pilot Thanks!
  19. What does retreating blade stall have to do with the main rotor blade hitting the tail boom. I see no connection whatsoever.
  20. Great story, great photo's, but what makes helicopter pilots strange?? :)
  21. Ok, I'm more countering the claims of being able to do a barrel roll and a looping with a Huey.
  22. Yeah you can also do 110 degrees of bank in a Chinook. But what is it good for? There's no real use for it.
  23. Well... With my understanding of helicopters, I don't think you can. Maybe you can once, but you'll crash or you can scrap the aircraft. So I wouldn't call that aerobatics capable. And there are several definitions for aerobatics, but I guess the most common one is all abrupt attitude change, pitch more than 30 degrees up or down and bank angles of 60 degrees and more are considered aerobatics. So yeah, you can probably make 90 degree angle of bank turns in the Huey, but anything inverted, nah, forget it. Don't forget it's the main rotor system carrying the whole Huey. The fuselage just hangs underneath the rotor system. I don't know if the Huey can keep enough positive G's throughout manoeuvres, but hey, there's a reason you can't find any Huey aerobatics videos on Youtube :)
  24. Helicopters with teetering rotor systems can't do aerobatics. If you do, and for some reason surviva, you can scrap the aircraft. Helicopters with rigid rotor systems, like for instance the Bo-105 and AH-64, can do aerobatics. It's all about rotor system design.
