  1. Please sir.......can I have some more? hehe :D
  2. Wow! I understood the previous standpoint on pricing, although it didn't leave me jumping for joy. but this has made me feel FC3 really now deserves to sit alongside the full DCS modules and I think really addresses the apparent disparity of depth. FC3 will no longer be seen as DCS lite and more like DCS Fighters&CAS And yes....Thank You!
  3. Mission or theatre relevant civvy aircraft would add depth, but for them to be flyable is maybe a stretch. I know some would welcome it, and I would dive right in and try it but high fidelity?? This is probably a poll for when dcs is a little more populated with the modules already on the horizon. Maybe even another sim entirely to compete with xplane or fsx. Interesting idea and just my two pence worth
  4. With preload, my experience so far is that just enough to eliminate ingame stutter is best. It'll speed up your load times no end. On my rig I sit just below halfway with 4gb ram and 2gb vram and it loads faster than an average IL2:ClOD mission. I don't know, but maybe preloading as much as possible would find a bottleneck, where a less amount of data stored with the loading on the fly would be smoother? Clutching at straws there.
  5. I don't get it. Check my spoiler, because it seems daft to me that I can get a steady 40+ fps with all high settings save for 4xAA, 512 cockpit, tssaa off. on my rig with ai. It's more like 50-60 when not viewing units/tight external fov. The only thing I have slow me down and by slow I'm talking SPF rather than FPS, are the CBU and MLRS munitions Vis range is high and preload is in a sweetspot between quick load times and jerk free gameplay. And then you got monster rigs so pwerful that suck in whole realities when they're turned on getting the same or even less performance. Can't quite get my head around it:crash:
  6. So you're getting good FPS just on a basic flight with no AI?
  7. I'm not sure what you could mess with during the install that would have that effect. What windows are you running?
  8. Can anyone chime in to confirm or otherwise.?
  9. I'm not an expert compared to some on here but I have read that it's better disabled as it'll split the two threads over one core rather than a core per thread. It could be totally unrelated but it'd be my first thing to check with the knowledge I currently have of dcs.
  10. I had a slightly similar experience. I took my rig to my brothers and my usually well tuned dcs install was beef jerky on his projector. Tried different resolutions and apprently it ran smooth for one session with no change (I passed out by that time). There were no other updates or steam running just plain vanilla dcs world. Now it's back it runs fine again. To return to your problem, if you have hyper threading enabled the game will only use one processor as there are only two threads for dcs. One for sound and one for all else, so start by ensuring it is disabled in bios maybe.
  11. I've never had this issue running my HD 7850. On the latest non beta catalyst and drivers. What's your rig spec?
  12. +1 for reader support
  13. Fences and any texture that has a transparent element will use TSAA, so enable this in options for smoother fences. I believe the Q denotes multi sampling AA as opposed to Full Scene AA, however I may have my wires crossed.
  14. I was just playing around with this and acceptable is about all it is. I managed to almost totally lose the aircraft from view before I figured out how the two modes worked together when toggling F2+L-alt. I wonder if the default position of the camera is a value in a file that can be edited. If you got it in the sweet spot and could find those modified values maybe they could replace the default values. Although I'm sure PeterP would've said if it was so. Sorry PeterP you've witnessed my forum greeness twice today :D
  15. F2+R-alt will let you toggle so the mouse changes camera position And F2+L-alt will swap so the camera looks away from the focus vehicle but is controlled the same as normal F2 view. M
  16. Apologies. I was unaware of this. M:doh:
  17. Here's the mod I mentioned. It keeps the info up, so not great for clear screenshots, but better for in game. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/38348/
  18. I saw a mod to make it transparent, if I find it again I'll post it here. I'm sure one of the vets on here will know about permanently disabling it. M
  19. I'm using an xbox kinect as webcam with facetracknoir. It works great if you can be bothered to fiddle with room lighting, dead zones and curves. Any webcam is fine tho. Would be really interested in seeing a head tracker using the kinect IR. Although the dedicated windows kinect would be more appropriate as it has the close field detection that the xbox kinect doesn't and much much better 3D capture http://blogs.msdn.com/b/kinectforwindows/archive/2013/03/16/kinect-for-windows-announces-new-version-of-sdk-coming-march-18.aspx
