  1. WildBillKelsoe; I haven't used DXTbmp since my FSX days, now a days I use Photoshop as it allows you to do so much more, but if I remember correctly the process goes as follows... 1. Make backup copy of texture file 2. Open texture in DXTbmp 3.(if you've already done this skip to step 4) Click Preferences on the menu bar, choose Select Editor and find the editor program. (in your case Gimp.exe) 4. Click Image on menu bar, choose Send Image to Editor 5. Make your changes to texture 6. Click File on Gimp's menu bar, choose Save (not save as) 7. Bring DXTbmp back to the front 8. Click Image on menu bar, choose Reload image 9. Click File, choose Save Your texture should be ready to use FYI- Do not insert your texture into DCS's texture zip file. Make a folder in the same place as the zip file, and name it the same as the zip file. Then place your re-textured file to that folder. This has several benefits, 1) DCS always grabs un compressed files before using compressed ones. 2) When DCS does an update it won't effect your texture file since the folder its in is not part of DCS original files, it just ignores it during the update. (if you insert your texture into the zip file, then the update will see that it does not match their files and over write it, and you'll have to do it all over again). Hope this helps
  2. Have you tried Google Translate. I use it all the time
  3. Try lowering your flaps
  4. Oubaas The wallpapers are a standard set of images for the module and not related to the skins. Its not a bug, so I doubt they will change it. However, you could always change the images to suit your preference. That's one of the great things about DCS, we can mod it.
  5. I got mine off Amazon, lowest price I was able to find. http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Hotas-Warthog-Joystick-2960720/dp/B00371R8P4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432645564&sr=8-1&keywords=thrustmaster+warthog
  6. Rapidfire; based on your pics, its the 'pilot_P51_patch_USAF' texture that isn't loading. However I do not know why it isn't working for you, I installed the skin and it works perfectly for me.
  7. Sahaj Rec'd my 20cm today, Great job, fits perfectly. Installed it in my Uh-1 simpit mockup for test fit and its just how I wanted it. Anyone reading this, if you have the Warthog and don't have one of these extensions, you have no idea how easy flying becomes. Thanks again.
  8. If you have Office, you could make your own template using any image you'd like. Just insert the image into your document, and then move it to the background. This way your text would be over the image. But to be honest, I wouldn't do it as a Word document, it would actually be easier to edit if you make it in Powerpoint.
  9. That happens to me every once and a while. The culprit is sometimes DCS assigns another axis to the collective. ie... in my case it assigned one of the rudder toe break axis to the collective, which causes the engine to over rev at mission start. I would check your assignments to make sure this hasn't happened.
  10. Chimango I don't have the MiG so I can't see what files there are, however I can tell you if you get the orange box (aka Texture Missing), means that it can not find the texture. Now this can be due to several reasons, one common one is misspelling... Most files in DCS are case sensitive. Another is whether or not the file in question is in the (Texture).zip or not. If a texture you wish to use is in the zip file, then the condition is 'true', if it is not (its in your skin folder) the condition is 'false'.
  11. If by users you are referring to HT, I'm willing to give it a try.
  12. Its not that BST is working on 2.0, the work on their aircraft revolves around what 2.0 is supposed to be able to do.
  13. I'd like to add my 2 cents here for the new people to DCS or those who don't really follow the forums that often. Please don't take reviews of products that are in beta too seriously. As others have said they are a preview not a review. And in most cases not by someone who follows what is going on in the DCS world. The facts are (even if some people don't want to except it) that both the F-86 and the Mig-15 weren't meant for the current graphics engine they are for EDGE 2.0. IMHO BST has and is working on content for these aircraft, however, it makes no sense to put out content that won't work as intended on a (sorry here ED don't mean to insult) out of date graphics engine. And makes even less sense to waste time and money trying to down grade product, just so people will stop complaining. BST put out these AC so that we could have a taste of what the future holds. Why would they do this (you may ask). Because we asked them too. Any complaints on beta products, should be held for at least several months after EDGE 2.0. Believe me, the DEV's are working VERY hard on getting EDGE 2 ready, and want it out as fast as they can get it to work correctly. And why is this so, because if it works as they have planned, they are looking at a major influx for users to the DCS world. No other flight simulator, (short of Military or Professional ones costing in the hundreds of thousands of dollars) has the content and/or abilities as DCS will. When I was a young'in, my father once told me, "If you want to know which way to proceed....Just follow the money!". Why do you think more and more 3rd party dev's are coming on board and investing time and money, its because they stand to make a killing if ED can pull off what they have planned. Ok, I know I've went on for too long, sorry about that. Be well, have fun, and see you in the sky.
  14. Skull; Have you been to these http://airforce.togetherweserved.com/usaf/servlet/tws.webapp.WebApp?cmd=PublicUnitProfile&type=Unit&ID=605 http://ljmilitaria.com/mainusafsquadrons/usaf_300th___up.htm http://www.homeofheroes.com/wings/part2/0_introduction.html http://ww2fighters.blogspot.com/2012/07/profile-68-update-f-4e-phantom-as-flown_24.html By the way that graphic was known as "Disney's Fighting Eagle" AKA 'The Boxing Chicken'
  15. Back on Jan 18, youtuber/reviewer "frooglesim" had a phone conversation with DCS Dev Matt Wagner. He posted a DCS World 2 exclusive Peek on Jan 20th, Link below. At about 6:44 He mentions the HD A2G radar they're making for the F-18c
  16. Work around solution Okay, after your question it peaked my interest to find a solution, this is the results of what I found. The reason this doesn’t work with just the keyboard is because the computer/DCS can only handle one key command series at a time from the keyboard. In order for this function to work, two commands must be sent at the same time. (Throttle Down & Throttle Stop) To perform this function it is possible to use…Keyboard & one Joystick button or two joystick buttons. (note using the keyboard you will still have to send the keyboard command several times, while using two joystick buttons it will function as it is supposed to.) SOLUTION: 1) Map ‘Throttle Down’ to one of your joy buttons; 2) Map ‘Throttle Stop’ to another joy button. (or use the keys mapped to the keyboard); 3) While holding ‘Throttle Down’ button, press and hold ‘Throttle Stop’ button until throttle shuts off. Hope this helps Edit: If you are thinking "I'll lose two buttons on my joystick" Remember you can always use the buttons from an old or second joystick or use one of those interface cards like Leo Bodnar BU0836X.
  17. Yes and I would be willing to help out if someone could point in the direction of where I can find the information on how to make gauges or the interface.
  18. First let me ease your fears. You are doing nothing wrong. The system hasn't worked as intended from day one. (unless it is working as intended, in which case I have serious concerns with the individual who thinks it's supposed work that way...lol) On the lower right of the collective control head, there is a little button, that is the 'idle stop release'. It keeps you from unintentionally moving the throttle to the off position. In the sim the button is a push button toggle switch, push once it goes down, push again it comes up. how it is supposed to function is you map keys to 'throttle up & throttle down'. Then you move the throttle to idle, click the button in, press throttle down or roll you mouse wheel to move it into the off position. As it currently works, you press throttle down, while repetaly clicking on the button with you mouse. Hopefully when EDGE 2.0 comes out, they will be able to get it to work correctly.
  19. I doubt its a bug, since it wasn't designed to be an actual autopilot. it was meant to simulate your copilot taking the controls for a short while you worked the radios or some other task. To the best of my knowledge, when coming in for a landing or hover, policy was both pilots be on the controls.
  20. Left Shift + P
  21. FYI-- Its not necessary for you to put your mod'd files into the zip file. Just create a folder where ever the zip file is, and give the folder the name of the zip. Put your files in there, and wha-la. DCS always uses any uncompressed files before getting them from the zip file.

    Where profile?

The default profiles are in the modules input folder of the main game. C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\UH-1H\Input\joystick They are default profiles, they should automatically load when one of the devices is plugged in.
  23. Don't know if this still works but have a look at post #7 of the following thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122902&highlight=cargo+camera
  24. Hi all; Just adding some info for those who are new to DCS or didn't know this little tidbit. It is not advisable to alter any 'zip' files in DCS. The reason is when you alter the zip file and DCS does an update or repair, it will see your altered zip as being different from the one they have and replace it, thus undoing the changes you've made. Now if you've only changed one zip file, this is no big deal, you just go back and change it again. However if you're like me and many others, and have changed many zip's this becomes a big PITA. So what to do? A little know thing about DCS is that it will use any 'unzipped' files before using the ones that are contained in a zip file. So all you need to do to change a file in a zip file, is create a folder with the zip file name in the same folder as the zip file you're changing, and place the files you wish to change in there. In the case at hand it would look like this... C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F-86\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures\F-86F-35-CPT-TEXTURES\F-86F_Cockpit_glass.dds Now whenever DCS does and update or repair, since that new folder is not part of the DCS file structure, it just disregards it and leaves it alone. And if you're a worry wart, and want added security for your changes, you could make a JGSME file and with one click uninstall your changes before an update, and then just one click after to put them back. Hope this has been of some help.
  25. Nothing special, besides the interface card you choose (BU0836X or the BB32) Setting multi position switch is done through coding in the game. So the real switch will act the same as in the game. When you get to the point of wiring up your switches and coding them, if you need any help just pm me.
