Eight Ball; great mission, very challenging, esp. since you have the cable length set at 33ft. For those having trouble with the radio while airborne, open mission in the editor, select mission options and make sure 'Radio Assists' is checked.

During Vietnam the ship commander was usually in the left seat, not all the time though. Its commanders choice whether to fly pilot or copilot. Its good practice to learn to fly the huey from both sides. On more than one occasion doing one of these missions I was killed and had to switch to the copilot position to finish the mission.

Capt Zeen UH-1H Helios profile ! !
DeJohn replied to Capt Zeen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Entropy; I had this problem a few times when copying the dofile line from a previous used export.lua. Try copying the do file line from the original DCS-BIOS scripts export.lua, that's what has worked in my case, -

Capt Zeen, Words alone can not describe the amazing job you did on this profile. Not only that but you Sir, have solved one of the problems in my simpit build I've had for a long time... What to do about the CB's. Thanks again, donation inbound.

FYI: Before you go adding or subtracting declination to your compass, remember that if you use the F10 map to get a heading, the map is true north not magnetic. Which means if you add 6 degrees for Georgia to your compass, then get a heading from where you are on the map to some point on the map and try to fly there by the compass, the farther you travel, the more off course you're going to get. What does this mean for us? Flying VFR in clear sky's--- in a helicopter not a whole lot. In most cases you won't be flying far enough that you can't make visual corrections. In a jet, it may or may not become a problem. Flying IFR in low visibility conditions--- It could make the difference between finding you target or home airfield and getting frustrated with the mission. (btw, for a chopper pilot flying IFR means 'I Follow Roads". LOL) An example, If you are flying a mission and the mission audio and/or text is telling to take a heading, and the mission is checking to see if you are flying that heading, then use the +6 degrees. If the mission doesn't really care what heading you're actually flying, that the heading it gave you was a only reference, then it may not matter, unless you are flying LowVis IFR. If you'd like to check this yourself, download the Huey Hover Practice mission. The first time you run through it don't make the declination correction. odds are it either won't say you passed or it will give you a low score. Then run it again but ADD the declination to your compass, and see if the results are different. (btw, the mission allows you a 5 degree +/- you can be off heading and pass. In the past many people who have run this, changed the mission with the editor and added the 6 degrees to make it 11 degrees +/- to compensate for the difference rather than just set the proper declination, go figure.) If you'd like to check your navigation skills, create a lowvis say 1km or less mission. Start your huey on the runway, bring it to a hover and move to the middle of the runway. Pick a heading, speed, altitude and duration, say 090-80kts-1000msl-10min. At the end of the duration, turn 90 degrees left to 360 and fly for another 10min, turn 90 degrees left 270 and fly 10min, turn 90 degrees left to 180 fly 10 mins. come to a hover as you approach the end of your last 10mins, then reduce altitude and see how close you are to the center of the runway. (make sure you don't use the F10 map to see where you are until you've completed the circuit. Because if you cheat, you're only cheating yourself, and not increasing your skills.)

Magnetic declination in Las Vegas, Nevada is +11.49° Magnetic declination in K'obulet'i, Georgia is +6.48° (which btw, is what the compass in DCS is off by) You can go to this site to find Magnetic declination anywhere in the world http://www.magnetic-declination.com/

bldg; When downloading files, download them to a temp folder or any other folder, not the dcs folders. rar, zip, or 7z files are compressed files, and need to be uncompressed using 'winrar' or 'winzip'. Once you uncompress them then you can move the needed files to where they will be used. The DustOff campaign can only be used in DCS 1.5.3 versions right now since DCS 2.0 doesn't have the Caucasus map yet. Your (Saved Games\DCS\Missions\Campaign\EN\DustOffDemov5) folder, will contain these files (after they have been un-compressed)... (DustOffDemoV5.1.cmp, Failure.jpg, Medevac 1.miz, Medevac 2.miz, Medevac 3.miz, Medevac 4.miz, Medevac 5.miz, Medevac 6.miz, Medevac 7.miz, Medevac 8.miz, Medevac 9.miz, Medevac 10.miz, Medevac Intro Flight.miz, Medevac logo2.jpg, Victory.jpg) Your (Liveries\uh-1h) folder will contain these folders (after un-compressed)... Army 82nd Medical Detachment Army 101AD_LaPointe Army 173rd AHC Army 229ABn_Crandall Army 229ABn_Freeman USMC VMO-6

Hi Bigd; 1. use the link above in post 4 2. in that post go to post #5, near the bottom will be the links to the Campaign, and the skin pack you'll need. 3. On your computer go to 'Users\(username)\Save Games\DCS' folder... -Place the skin folders in the 'Liveries\uh-1h' folder. (if you don't have those two folders just create them.) -Also in the Saved Game\DCS folder will be 'Missions\Campaigns\EN' (in the 'EN' folder create a folder named "DustOffDemov5", and place the files from the campaign mission you downloaded in there). 4. Start DCS and click Campaigns. You should see the DustOff campaign listed.

I would do a repair, based on your picture, the top of the knob should be the same color as the side of it, not black as shown in pic

Yes you can just don't include one of the screens in your resolution settings. Example I have two monitors, both 1920x1080 which gives me a total resolution of 3840x1080. How ever if I want to puts notes or checklists on my second monitor, I just set DCS to the resolution of one monitor 1920x1080. So lets say all of your monitors are the same, and you have them side by side (1-2-3), you would have a total resolution of 5760x1080. In this case you would not include the 3rd one for a resolution of 3840x1080. And you would be able to put or open what ever you like on the third one. Hopes this helps

Sublime I haven't run that mission in a long time, so I just ran the mission 4 times for about 15min each to check findings. 1st time through.... ADF right on the money at 200khz for the pilot 2nd...................... pilot's signal was at 210khz 3rd ..................... Same as 2nd Since that mission was written with the 1.2 editor, I loaded it up in the current editor and saved it under a new name and ran it once more. 4th ............ Pilot's signal was at 210khz. The only advice I give you on the CSAR mission is, as you tune the ADF and get close to the frq you want, keep you eye on the signal strength needle, if it doesn't move, continue tuning slowly until you get a signal. Odds are that will be the one you want. Hope this helps you.

DCSFlightpanels (DCSFP) thread. Saitek Pro Flight Panels & DCS
DeJohn replied to a topic in DCS Modding
Hi; Just a quick question to ascertain whether its a problem with the program or I have a bad Multi Panel or something else. Is anyone else having a problem with the Multi Panel not initializing when you start Flightpanels? Situation: When ever I start FP, all panels function normally with the exception of the Multi panel. Currently I have to unplug the MP from the usb and plug it back in and then it is recognized by FP and works perfectly until FP is shut down. --hitting the refresh icon in FP has no effect on the MP. --its not the usb port cause I have tired every port on the computer. --its not the computer cause my system sees the panel and it functions normally with FSX. The MP not being recognized only happens with FP I only ask to see if someone else has another fix before I use the fix I came up with. (My fix): Put a reset switch in the usb line. That way I can start FP hit the reset for the MP and all works as it should. -
Duckling; Sorry if my post wasn't clear. The post was directed towards Stellos situation, since this thread was kinda vague as to what I/O card they were having a problem with. The statements I made become true when you apply the conditions I used... (depending on how accurate you're trying to build your pit), (usually only in the simplest of pits), (the easiest way of course). As I said, I use several kinds of I/O cards, not because one company's card can't do the job at all, but because another one might be easier to use for that task. (sort of like plug and play). As an example, some of the cards I use in my pits (for ease of use) are... Leo Bodnar cards Opencockpits pulse generator phidgetles led controller Arduino Mega each of those cards can do most the same jobs, but others do specific jobs better or easier. And as a former USAF maintenance tech, remember one of our mottos... "Work smarter, not harder." lol

stellos2000; The good news is Opencockpit cards are great for what they were designed for. The bad news is, they weren't designed with DCS in mind, but rather FSX. Now that's not saying they can not be used with DCS, but not in the all encompassing way you might want. For somethings in the simpit they will be useful, but you will still, unfortunately, need to buy other cards to accomplish the things you wish to do. (depending on how accurate you're trying to build your pit) As any simpit builder can tell you, rarely will you use only one brand of I/O cards. (usually only in the simplest of pits) I myself use several companies cards to do what I need done. (the easiest way of course) Sorry; I wish I had better news for you. As a side note: If this is your first simpit build, give a hug and kiss to your family, cause its a NEVER! ending endeavor. No matter how well you build the pit, you always think 'I can make this better if I do...'. Currently I'm building a Uh-1H simpit, which by the way is my 5th pit build in a long line of builds going back to my MSFS days. Good Luck my friend.

stellos2000; Is this the opencockpits card you are trying to use? USB keyboard emulator card http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/usbkeys-card-p-53.html?cPath=21_35

gerd; sunrise is off about 1 1/4 hours. Its been reported and ED is aware, we just have to wait for it to be fixed. If you go into the editor and change the time from 7:10 to 8:25 it will be just about right.

Move Crew Status Panel - Multi monitors - Old 1.2ver
DeJohn replied to Need-To-Know's topic in DCS: UH-1H
You have to edit: ...DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Scripts\AI\ControlPanel\g_panel_page.lua As I don't have 1.2 installed any longer, I can't tell you exact line numbers. If I remember correctly somewhere around line 60 you'll find base.init_pos that's the starting point of the box, you need to change the numbers to place it where you want. To what numbers? no idea with your monitor setup, as I only use 2 1920x1080 monitors.- 1 reply

Cowboy; there is a way to fake the opening/closing of the throttle. Obviously not like IRL, but it gets the job done. The following process is easy for someone using a 'Warthog' as a cyclic since it has so many buttons, but it will work with other joysticks as well. On the 'Warthog' (your cyclic) use one of the buttons as a 'modifier' button, I use the pinky paddle button as a modifier. On the collective, program the 'Spotlight Ext' button (using the modifier button on the Warthog) to 'Pageup'; and program the 'Spotlight Ret' button (using the modifier button) to 'PageDown'. As I said this process isn't real life, however it does allow you to open/close the throttle without taking your hands off the controls to press a key on the keyboard. Hope this helps

Instruments panel in UH-1H - brightness of digits on radar altimeter display
DeJohn replied to paeagle's topic in DCS: UH-1H
The picture shows what the texture looks like. You'll need to create a folder named UH-1H-CPT-TEXTURES and place it in the game folder, it should look like the following... C:\(your game location)\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Textures\UH-1H-CPT-TEXTURES Unzip the enclosed texture file to that folder. UH1_lamps.tga.rar -
Instruments panel in UH-1H - brightness of digits on radar altimeter display
DeJohn replied to paeagle's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Until the brightness is fixed, I solved the problem by changing the texture from dots to a seven segment display. -
Did you check the DCS downloads http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1305641/
