Change Wording: "Set SPI Generator" instead of "Make SPI"
Dagger71 replied to Yurgon's topic in Bugs and Problems
I never said otherwise. please re-read again. The LOS creates (or generates) the SPI.. -
Change Wording: "Set SPI Generator" instead of "Make SPI"
Dagger71 replied to Yurgon's topic in Bugs and Problems
I wouldn't argue about it , but it is a different way point. Let me give an example. If 3 planes fly formation with the EXACT 8 WP (numbered 1-8 ) entered identically, fly together. I decided I will change the coordinates in WP5 to another 200km away from its original. We all travel together and all have STPT as SPI What will happen when we reach WP4? Will we now be travelling to the same WP? All 3 say WP5. will we have the same SPI? -
Change Wording: "Set SPI Generator" instead of "Make SPI"

You are completely misunderstanding yet again. The LOS focuses on a single point that creates the SPI. When TGP LOS is SPI, it is NOT the entire output of the TGP screen , but the very center of it. Shagrat I'll let you take over from here. -

Yes only one steerpoint which is also a single point in 3d space that can be changed for another. -
Change Wording: "Set SPI Generator" instead of "Make SPI"

I should be more specific, I realize I need to be with you. If you enter new coordinates, the steerpoint, WILL change. Just the "name" of the steerpoint will remain. the 3Dpoint will change! -

Funny I think we are both now trying to correct Quigon! I realize you understand now. -

Speak to Shagrat.. he knows what I am referring to. page 401 of the manual..Explains what defines the SPI. For the TGP it is the LOS For the TAD it is the hook symbol For the maverick it is the Maverick LOS For the HUD it is the STPT (default) or GUN SOLUTION/STPT/CCIP SOLUTION orCCIP RETICLE Depending on submode. Shagrat is finally catching on.. you should speak directly to him for help. -
Change Wording: "Set SPI Generator" instead of "Make SPI"
Dagger71 replied to Yurgon's topic in Bugs and Problems
I said it won't update unless you change it. If you enter change the coordinates in the CDU, it is changing the steerpoint ergo changing the SPI. If steerpoint A is coordinate 1234 and you manually change it to 5678. it is a new steerpoint. The steerpoint name/number may stay the same, but its 3D position will change. What else is a 3D point? -

How long have you been flying like this? Who was your trainer? What did you think happened when you moved the TGP while the LOS was SPI? -

Dagger71 replied to Yurgon's topic in Bugs and Problems
Haha! nice of course you would... another german agreeing. Fine with me. funny you just said the exact same thing I got in PM from someone else. Shagrat you forgot to mention that I gave you the info about the USAirforce manual. I know what it is. I've said all of this. Including the fact that a SPI is always present. Just as a Steerpoint is always present. You can however change either of them. As the Steerpoint SPI, it will never change or update unless you change to another steerpoint. Just as with a TGP LOS SPI, it will not change or update unless you slew it or select another SPI (from either another SOI or any of the 3 other ways to obtain a SPI). -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
yes my mistake! the STEER rocker switch on UFC can be mapped in controls to AAP Steer Switch UP and Down. Avoids making HUD SOI or clicking with mouse and cycle steerpoints/markpoints for easy rifling mavericks. -

Re-read. I'm sorry but I am not in the mood to continue arguing if you don't understand. -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Cool video showing exactly what I was explaining: Using markpoints for rapid fire Mavs while using IFFCC rocker switch mapped to a separate key to avoid having to switch to HUD as SOI. He is also explaining both scenarios I described. -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Please re-read and comprehend. YOU Said "You can't update a mark point, you can only create a new mark point." I spoke of markpoints BUT if the marpoint is off then you need to set the SPI with TGP (important for JDAMS). That's all I was saying. Please let's stop this. I am not going to argue. I specifically explained two different scenarios. Post #2 dealt with Markpoints that are right on target. My other post was about the markpoint being off target. -

SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
These are my exact words: "BUT if you have to move you TGP (even a little) to more accurately set it on your target then you do have TMS FWD LONG SET SPI to update the SPI and this is more important with JDAMS," -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Again we are talking about separate issues. Context man, context!! No need to create a new mark point if the original is off by a little. Make TGP SPI, slew, Mav SOI, TMS up short and fire. switch markpoint. TMS up short and fire. -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
DMS short requires HUD SOI, so to do it rapid I set up the IFCC rocker to an arrow key so I can keep Mav soi and just need to do TMS up short and fire, click arror to next Markpoint, TMS up short and fire. But you get it. -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
NO I said if using MARK as SPI. please re-read. IF you need to change the SPI point because the mark point is off target then you need to update. I'm not going to start another 10 page argument for nothing because you refuse to read and comprehend. Sorry, the problem he has was key mapping issues. Lets close this thread. -

SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?

It's not what I was talking about. I was referring to setting up mark points as SPI for quick rifling of mavs. -

Meh happens all the time. To this day I use the graphical HOTAS cheat sheet. in front of me. It's a 6 year old piece of paper! -

Yup like Emmy said, sounds like you have some mapping issues. happens sometimes after an update. -
SPI to Markpoint/Waypoint while weapons are selected?
Dagger71 replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Actually After re-reading I think I know what NakedSquirrel is encountering. If the mark points are on a static position and the target has not moved, meaning you do not have to slew any of the SOI, then the steps I gave should work. BUT if you have to move you TGP (even a little) to more accurately set it on your target then you do have TMS FWD LONG SET SPI to update the SPI and this is more important with JDAMS, but not really required for Mavs, as they will only lock on according to it's seeker ( use TMS FORWARD Short to lock it) . Is this what you are experiencing? -

You mean TMS AFT Long... SPI to Steer.
