  1. I had to set my stick to a big gradual curve or it will snap on ya. Its not a good turning plane here unlike what the RL combat pilots say. I can out turn 190 with 1 notch of flaps. But if 109s are on you, flaps and stall speed and hope they make a mistake and go in the ground. Thats the only thing you can hope for in that situation. Avoid 109 if you dont get a fast kill or hope for a newbe
  2. Not complaining about stick pumping, even though the wings don't come off. That's not a problem... K4 is the extreme example, never seen a plane go from stall speed at end of runway to yo yoing to 5k ft over and over. They dont have to jerk off the stick when gravity is not an issue. I didnt even bring up the turn on a dime spinning around out, turning with the IL. Whats that about? I dont fly K4, no real sense of accomplishment getting a kill of a lumbering defenseless plane. But thats just me
  3. Oh I understand, your one of those people that sarcasm or satire goes right over your head... I got ya. I keep forgetting about that large segment of population. Example When you expected something to happen, especially after warning someone about it someone says, “Well, what a surprise.” Example When someone says something that is very obvious: Really, Sherlock? No! You are clever. Example When someone shows you beautiful photos from their vacation: “What an awful place. I hope to go there someday.” The person’s response is sarcastic because they are saying the opposite of what is meant to be funny. Example When someone does something wrong: Very good; well done!
  4. I love the server, good work. Only thing I would like to see is taking off the Dots. Sometimes the best offense against fighting being out numbered by 109s is stalking and sneaking up on them when they are careless. Oh what sweet killing that is lol. Cheers
  5. I feel ah ah excuse me blahhhh! Oh woof, oh there went my lunch lol. What gets me is the 109k4 can go from stall at 100ft to 5000 ft in 4 sec, over and over again. Can a F22 even do that?
  6. Thanks for your post. I could find it so I just made a new post "Observations from a real fighter pilot" Thanks for the vindication. Since I retired I've logged flight hours here of exactly A Bunch lol. I have talked about the same objections and people discounted me. I knew it! Real planes cant do that stuff! (and your point the pilot couldn't survive it). A funny story; When my son was in the Civil Air Patrol, the squad went to the air base and they let the boys fly the real flight simulator. Everybody crashed, including the Ret. Col. and Maj. lol. They said its your turn Mike, I said oh no you boys go ahead. After prodding I said ok let try it. Out 25 of us I was the only one to land with all souls alive lol. "Sorry Maj. Col., see boys all that combat experience don't mean much. I'll be taking over this squadron. For the lessons in the real plane, the col. can help you. But for the flight sim? You better see me because these guys will get ya killed! lol" Combat pilots ha, flying real planes... they don't what there doing lol. Those retired guys at CAP, the dedication and work they do with the boys and girls they are really great. My son went on to great success thanks to them. Cheers flygav
  7. Somewhere here I seen a post "Observations from a real fighter pilot..." and after 50K missions I'm announcing my retirement, I'm done. I knew I was not the only one. He praised all the positives about DSC we all agree on, then he mentioned the short comings. He mentioned my thoughts (some verbatim) and some only he would know. He also said as I have (and people foo foo me when I said this) "I've seen every WW2 film/gun cam there is and I've never seen (109K4) go from a stall at 200ft to 4K ft. over and over again. Real planes can't do that!" He made another point only he would know "Even if a plane could do that, the pilot could not survive those forces." I've said the F22 Raptor with jet vectoring cannot do what the K4 can do. His main objection and only fatal flaw with DCS is "They need to fix the flight model..." And I have to agree, I don't know how the K4 slipped by DCS developers but it kills it for me, this is dumb. Since I retired I noticed my graphics card logs exactly how many hours you spend on a game. I have logged on DCS exactly... A Bunch! lol. So I have learned these planes FM pretty good. To all the people that disagreed with me... Ah ha I'm not crazy after all! DCS could fix this easy enough without even fooling with the FM. Just adjust what the fight pilot said. Make it so the pilot would know if I do all those crazy maneuvers I will pass right out and get killed. Forced them to fly like a real plane, I've never seen a real plane doing wild stick jerking, they cant do that, if they could the wings would come off. I don't think WW2 is a real priority for DCS yet. It was kind of an after thought. People like flying those stinking jets for some reason. I don't get thrill from killing someone BVR. I like the up close and personal killing of WW2. And if I was going to go thorough all the work to learn all the radar computer skills in the jets, I would just join the air force and fly a real jet. That's a hell of a lot of work to fly around in your basement. Ten years from now this sim will be pretty cool. Hopefully before then, because I really enjoyed flying here. But if the 109s come its a real game play killer. Sure if you have a group of buddies that work together (Really well) you can get them. But at least one or more of you are going down. I've seen many a fight with one 109 vs 4 allies and he still may fly away... That's not realistic. (fly; if you want to have a real fun dogfight, make a map where each man is flying the same plane. Man vs Man, you'll have a real white knuckle exhausting dog fight for sure.) Thanks for the good times and letting me vent. I'll be checking in now and then. Until then I'm going to go do something productive with my time. I'll be playing my new Fender Stratocaster and other top of the line musical equipment. I think I'll form a good wedding band. I finally figured out my type of woman... Young Drunk ones lol. See ya around Losers! lol Cheers! Flygav
  8. There is a map in downloads for shooting down planes and another one spawns. Change it to unlimited ammo so you can practice shooting. In multiplayer expect to get your a** handed to you a bunch. It takes most people a lot of practice and some adjustments with graphic settings so you can see other planes (Reshade app helps too) Cheers
  9. you have to hit in convergence in 51. Use ground attack ammo or API
  10. I found its not easy, it gets better after about 50,000 hrs of flight time lol. Dont use combat mix ammo belt, ground attack is better it seems. I made a practice map offline with unlimited ammo so you can get used to where the convergence is on the guns of you'll just be splatter gun and put a bunch of holes in them. And defensive learn to go into a dive, you can go 500 mph in 51 without taking the wings off if your gentle. German plan will follow and compress and go in the ground most times unless they are really good. But they have no control if they go too fast and you can get away then regroup.
  11. Ah good point, looks fine on screen. However I do have resolution set way low so I can see other planes, thats probable it, thanks
  12. What do those guys use to make hi quality video of a mission, like I see on YouTube? Ive tried some screen recorders but the quality is not so good.
  13. Anyone know where I can find info about the new belts are all about?
  14. Be sure you stay in trim, ram air open. Climb above the bombers and then slight dive, you should be really moving then (true air speed wont be on the speed meter at that alt, youll be going a lot faster then indecated (it complecated I cant explain it but see link below) https://www.boldmethod.com/learn-to-fly/aerodynamics/why-true-airspeed-increases-with-altitude/#:~:text=How Much Does True Aispeed, depends on temperature and pressure.
  15. I found that I only have a few min of Replay... It seems the file size max out and stops, anyone know how to increase the file size it will save to?
  16. I came across a pretty good deal on a VR set, however I discovered my PC, although it has I7 CPU. It is maxed out at 16GB Ram. Will VR work very well with 16GB? I'm guessing not. It hardly handles DCS now. I'm not ready to do an upgrade now so I'm thinking of passing on the deal. Thank you
  17. Well since SOW ended, I just see a handful of people fly WW2. Did people go to a different sim or something? I don't really want to learn to fly those sinking jets! If I go to that much trouble I may as well join the USAF and fly a real one lol. BVR... What fun is that anyways?
  18. "I need more F4U cowbell!" Any projected date? I can't wait to give those German planes what they deserve!
  19. In addition to the close-up issues... What gets my goat is... At least using a screen is you have no peripheral vision, compared to other sims. You have tunnel vision and have a hard time finding the plane you just merged with... and if you lose sight of the other plane in a dogfight you are pretty much dead. Maybe its better in VR but on a screen it really bits.
  20. In the end of the day I guess we are lucky to even have any WW2... I remember when it was just those stinking BVR jets. Not very personal like an up close dogfight. Not to mention if I wanted to learn all the computerized flight and radar I would have joined the stinking air force and flown a real bird for the same about of training lol. These are the early days for DCS WW2, someday there will be all the models, P38s, Yaks, KIs Tempests etc. And 50 cals that actually do the damage in the historic gun cams instead of these pelt guns. Until then we can all b**&&! lol
  21. Sorry thats just an obvious contradiction... you make a correct statement and then negate it in the next sentence. Let me clarify... they were equal i.e. Spit 14 vs 109k4 etc. Spit 9 was outclassed by then.
  22. In a perfect world... hopefully it will be like the old sim FHWarbirds. The war starts with all the early planes and a time goes on the newer variants are available, all the way to the 262 and the Comet, F4U4 etc. Back in the day it would have 100+ players flying... was really fun. The server is still up but it fell out of favor (old timey graphics) but still great dogfighting. Hopefully different variants will someday be available (they already have the flight models it would only take some code changes?)
  23. In WW2 history it is well known all the plane variants were incremental... that's RL. One side would have the advantage in performance for just a short time until improvements were made. In the end it was well known all the planes were petty much equal in performance. Who's idea was it to develop the latest variant of the Bf109K4... and only come up with the Spit 9? Why not the Spit 14? Or all things being equal... the F4U4, Yak 9, KI84 etc.? If that goofy Hitler had the K4 right out of the gate... we would all be Nazi's right now. It seems DCS has fallen short when it comes RL in the variants... Hopefully there are plans for future development to correct this. (not to mention it gets frustrating fighting a 1944 K4 with a 1942 Spit in multiplayer). Maybe someday...
  24. I watched a video the other day from a WW2 pilot and he said he would go into a flat spin in a spit to get down. I tried it in DCS and it works great! Just spin to as low as you want ah go and hit rudder and power and you'll come right out of it.
