I think WW2 in DCS was an after thought. Its great for jets with BVR, they need to do some work still on WW2 I believe. On Storm of War server a good rule of thumb is: If you see another plane... its a friendly. It does take some practice to identify German planes, (rounded wingtips and mach speeds. And the big round air vent sticking out of the side) Its damn hard to win a dog fight if you lose site of your opponent. And they always disappear on me. If I play on other servers or single player I can keep track of the other planes... I dont what it is with SOW server (the only server people play on for some reason) but no matter how much I'm looking around I never see the plane that gets me... its getting very old.

From what it looks like you're not hitting them at the gun convergence. I found if I'm too far or too close it just put a bunch of holes in the plane. But if I get them at that sweet spot they go down fast.

so there is no way to change the convergence?

The problem I have with it all is losing sight in a dogfight. If your opponent disappears from you in a dogfight you are DEAD. All I know is I wish they would fix the issue.

The F4U4... would only be fair to level the playing field with the 109.

DCS WW2 was an after thought it seems... Fix it Please! The sim was developed for jets... BVR and radar its fine. But for up close WW2 dogfighting IT SUCKS. You really can enjoy or get any good at dogfighting if you lose sight of your opponent. It is possible... If you ever played Freehost Warbirds, the dogfighting is very enjoyable. It was developed a longtime ago but is still the best air combat sim ever made. The graphics are old school and it will run on any computer. But you the game play is worth it... eye candy is not everything. You can keep the other plane in sight and have some great dogfighting. Planes dont disappear and it has peripheral vision. DCS is like looking through two paper towel tubs... tunnel vision. Not to mention planes vanishing at the critical moment. The views in this sim are very disappointing... I dont even know why I keep playing this... FIX This. Check out this video... This was an old timey game and they have excellent views. Is it just me or is there nobody flying the ww2 servers/maps? I get tired of all the computers on jets and like to get to down and dirty up personal dogfighting. But I NEVER see anyone playing those servers. Am I missing something or what?

I just did an update and now the splash screen and music comes on and just stays there.

I got a dell i7 with 16gb off of craiglist for $220 not bad, other than that try tigardirect

I cannot seem to find anywhere what the system requirements are to run this sim. Is there a link I cant see somewhere?

So I can't afford a new pc right now, just to play this new 2.0 version. I know I cant be alone on this, so I rolled back to 1.5 because it still works great. But I go multiplayer and no one is there, so does anyone know how I can get a 1.5 server going?

Thanks for confirming my suspicions I have to agree. I'm sure there are a few more demanding but I'm not aware of them. I can do video editing/compressing, programing visual studio and everything else but not 2.0. And I only know one other person that has a modern computer so I think they cut a lot of people out when they went to the max. Most developers try to develop to the most common denominator for maximum number of players over max quality. Maybe someday the rest of us will catch up. Personally I had no problems with 1.5 was satisfying for me. But I put gameplay over graphics and eye candy.

Well I have tried everything possible to get my old Dell XPS quad core 8GB Ram, GTX 750. To run the 2.0 version but I don't think my resources have the horsepower to run 2.0 new version. It will kinda run single player but no way on multiplayer. It ran 1.5 perfectly and had many hours of enjoyment but the new version it wont have anything to do with it. Every other program I use and I use many, my pc handles fine with the one exception of World 2.0. Therefore i can't justify upgrading to a new pc just to play a flight sim. I must not be the only one? My question is, am I going to have any problems going back to the good old 1.5 version and am I going to find any other players to fly with if I do? Just a poor boy that likes to fly. Thanks Fly

I have worked in software development so I know they know there is an issue, it would be responsible and take the high road and say something instead of having thousands of people spending hours fiddling trying this and that and probably just wasting their time. I know better so I guess I will set it down and come back someday and see how its coming.

Thinking about uninstalling everything and starting fresh? Before I uninstall everything I figure some have tried this, so am I wasting my time? It starting to look like they made multiplayer to run on the latest cpu and video card with 16GB Ram to me and just failed to brother telling anyone? And since everything else I do still works fine on my pc I can't justify upgrading everything just to do this, so I maybe out for awhile.

Mine ran fine on the 1.5 but 2.5.1.16978.361 Im on thus far will only run offline, I have never been able to run multiplayer, never. It just keeps loading memory until its runs out and hangs. IDK what the problem is and I'm not ready to buy a new pc just to run this so I guess Im out for now.

Allow me to apologize for my inappropriate post I am sorry for my post about the P51 flight model. I was unaware of the lack of appreciation for satire and a brief criticism used to stimulate some critical thinking. And to avoid a long winded post hashing over details that may have been gone over repeatedly. I was just wanting to know that I was not alone in my opinion as I haven't seen any other comments other than "P51 not cutting it". But I think I understand why, I forget we all from different places and many do not see the benefits of the First Amendment where I live. Any how, yes I have flown a P-51 and have flown for many years. I also have been captain of a few boats. And the handling reminds me of handling a boat more so than a plane. It is slow, it maintains energy like a barge going upstream. It turns like a freight train, no matter what adjustments are used. As long as you're not involved in air combat its great. It feels like you are dog fighting in a B-24, you cant out turn them, you cant dive and run, don't try to climb. So the rules to dog fight are don't turn, extend or climb, as I tried many hours trying those options and all the other ACMs known to man since ww1. Unless someone knows some things I haven't used that work, I would like to know what they are. Thank you for taking the time to read another long posting. Fly:helpsmilie:

I have to agree with you 100%. If we can skin the abrams tank with P51 skin it would be an improvement.

To improve handling is it possible to change the flight model of the P51 to something more responsive? Like a dump truck or a cinder block, this plane blows.

I havent read all 23 pages to that post, but that sounds like the cause of the issue. But havent found any info on how to fix it. Deleting and remapping has had no effect. so I'm out of ideas to fix it and wonder if reinstalling would even do it.

First it happened with update to F15 and then the update to SU27. No control of the aircraft, I tried everything but uninstalling and re-installing the whole ball of wax. Deleted the input folder deleted and remapped key and joy mapping still nothing. Someone must know which file or folder these updates effected that I need to address. Besides that the auto pilot key mapping have no effect either. Where is the file or folder located that I need address? Thank you mike

I could post a track but you just see a plane all out of control. That is if I could make taxi but really cant taxi without going in the rough. I hope i dont have to reinstall everything...

I cleared all the settings and reset them but it didn't change anything. Does it need to be different key setting altogether? if so where do I find those?
