  1. Lol, I think you mean "crashing". Threw me for a loop there. :)
  2. The problem is, some people are just so ready to attack for anything, like the asshole who neg repped me. But I've dealt with him before, and totally expect such behavior from him. The truth is, some people with high rep, try to get rid of newer people with little rep by neg repping them to death. Like killing an infantry soldier with a 2000 lb bomb. Real mature.
  3. Yeah, you came through a little harsh on your first post, but I can't believe what followed. Reminds me of the Arma forums. Thought we were above that here. Really not liking what I seen on forums of late. I can see why people like Mower, LawnDart, and the old Frugal's crowd don't post here. I heard its why Frugals closed down again, because of people coming on insta-attacking and not debating. Guess I'm getting old. Oh well.
  4. Yeah, whatever. Love all the flaming before he could even acknowledge it was AI, OK? And now are we playing the immature negative rep game as well? Pretty infantile, bud.
  5. Ignore them, Maverick. They're the usual fanboy assholes who will attack you because YOU DARED to say something was wrong with the game they WORSHIP. Luckily, this isn't the Arma forums, and a lot of us back the people's right to speak. Bugs and problems should be reported and debated and you shouldn't be attacked for doing so (unlike some forums ).
  6. Back up. Sort of. http://frugalsrefugees.yuku.com/
  7. Well, I don't know I can really help you, but have you tried looking at some of Golden Amraam's teasers and trailers? On YouTube.
  8. For smaller maps that can then have more detail, all you have to do is make islands surrounded by vast ocean ( Arma, Crysis ). Pretty easy to do. Just stick a carrier offshore for helicopters and jets to lauch off of. Crysis Wars did this with beach, and we launched VTOLs and Heli's from it. On beach, we even had a submarine sitting off the shore where troops were deployed by boats or just swam to shore (watch out for the BIG sharks!) As for missing functions and classes to make Arma and Crysis like vehicles, FPS, etc., yeah I'm sure DCS hasn't made those yet. I'm hoping they'll let third parties do it (there are a lot of good FPS game type programmers out there! ), and they can stay concentrated on their excellent flight sims. Give us some players and vehicles to pick up in the Huey and the Mi-8! This game could be a MUCH BETTER Arma! I would love to see some good Crysis Wars maps like Beach, Shore, and Mesa crossed over as well, as they are really fun! You flyboys have it too easy. Come low if you dare!
  9. This is what I want too. Playable infantry and vehicles like in Crysis Wars and Arma 2 and 3. FPS if you will. I was just playing some Arma and Crysis games and while the vehicles and soldiers are decent, the aircraft simulation is HORRIBLE. I'm thinking, man, if I could just put this stuff into DCS on a small map, it would be AWESOME! What we need is an editor so we can make a small map, say the size of Arma 3's big island ( or even some small Crysis size ones! ), and then bring in custom objects and textures to populate it. Most of the map can be sea to bring down the strain on the CPU. Then we just need third parties to start making realistic infantry and vehicle mods. I'd MUCH rather play in DCS than Arma. I can just imagine winding through large hills in a Ka-50, attacking human controlled tanks and infantry on the roads. The only reason Arma's REALLY OLD engine is still around, is because they are still the most serious Battlefield type simulation there is. If DCS put in small island maps, and realistic vehicles and infantry, I guarantee it would be the END of Arma. All the serious Arma players would come over to DCS. Most serious Arma players are fuming over the influx of DayZ and Wasteland "kiddies" who end up ruining serious games by TKing, being stupid, and generally ruining games. We are really looking for a new home. DCS could be it, if only you would put in FPS and Vehicles on a better landscape. You really could be the new "World".
  10. Which is fine IF your only interested in the air element. There are no multiplayer ground forces. And there is no intelligence down there. That and CA is a bad joke. I'm really waiting to see what terrain / object detail level EDGE will bring. Outterra is really looking interesting, and could be a future ARMA type engine. Unfortunately, that's what they were saying on Frugal's 5 years ago. Realistic sims seem to be in a BIG rut.
  11. Yes, but most FPS players will be happy with that "small" map, believe it or not. I'm not, but I could deal with one about 5 times that size flying a jet. Just enough room to manuever and fly around. I can remember trying to fly in Chernarus in the A-10. Don't blink, or you'll miss the map. :P About 5 times that size would have been a little tight, but enough to retreat, land, re-arm, and go back to CAS. My problem with DCS is that there just doesn't seem to be any "game" to it. AI is pretty dull, so there's really no one to "support" on the ground. After you've learned the controls and flight systems, it feels like "that's it". I don't have anyone to communicate with and support on the "ground". Its ok if your a pure flight jockey doing CAP in multiplayer, but I like the CAS and ground pounding just as much, and that means having ground troops to coordinate with. We also want to play infantry on the ground, and be able to call in CAS. This is the "Battlefield" that a lot of PC gamers / simmers are looking for. Hopefully, we'll see Spectrum Holobyte's vision of it come true, one day.
  12. But nothing else. And there lies the problem. DCS has a FANTASTIC flight sim engine. But it needs to move on into vehicles and FPS as well in order to compete with Arma and newer upcoming engines like Outterra, which are looking to make bigger, more sophisticated "Battlefield" engines for the PC crowd. There is little want for pure flight sim engines anymore. If Arma brings its aircraft up to the "Flaming Cliffs" level of simulation, which won't take THAT much, it will be a DCS killer, as I suspect most players are into FC3. I LOVE the realism of DCS aircraft, but I'm really looking for more.
  13. I never bought the upgrade either. They should have given it for free, because little if anything changed ( other than putting it in World ). I would have considered $5 for it, but no way am I going to pay more for what should have been free. Also because of the hassle of having to install 1. I really don't see how you guys stay in business by being so niche. You should bring in FPS and vehicles, even if its by third party. And making people pay for upgrades that should be free will lose you lots of customers.
  14. It would be great if they actually put FPS and vehicles in this game, and make a better version of ARMA, which is really getting old. Maybe with the EDGE engine.
  15. Very nice videos! Right up there with Frazer. The guy can really fly, and it shows what the shark is capable of in the right hands. Unfortunately, when I try to do stuff like that, my slow ass machine gets confused and just blows the heli up.
  16. NEVER!:megalol: Lol, no, I totally agree. As an American, I've always had a lot respect at what the Russians come up with. For some reason, the US government just refuses to ever copy what some other government comes up with, no matter how good it is. Our stupid loss.
  17. LoL, turkey shoot. He has the AI turned off or something. None of the APC's / tanks are shooting back. Normally, he would have been shot down in the first few seconds. If you want to fly something like that, learn how to do moves like the "funnel". Move in fast, drift sideways, and then start a tight spiral like move around the tank, shooting as you go and keeping him from getting his gun pointed at you. You should be able to quickly put a rocket or two into him, then move on. Another tactic I like to do is to pop up above the tank, push my nose down hard, and it gives me about 1 second to fire a rocket down through the top armor. But that's all really somewhat desperate and suicidal maneuvering. Getting close to armor like that is not good. Close in is more for jeeps and trucks. And of course, even innocent looking trucks and jeeps might be carrying Igla's or RPGs.
  18. I've never been to LA, but there are three Fry's Electronics stores there according to google. They carry the X52 pro here in Dallas, Tx , so I assume they probably do there as well.
  19. That will work for the FC3 series. Not for the more realistic DCS: Series. Even in DCS: Warthog, your going to find there just aren't quite enough buttons on the X52 to use it properly. I have an old joystick somewhat similiar to X52 and I have to use my keyboard quite regularly which causes a lot of problems when trying to maintain situational awareness, because there is a lot of instruments / enemy to keep continuous track of. For instance, trying to sight in / lock the maverick seeker head and do a force correlate. LMAO! Yeah, as I was saying in the Arma 3 thread, these are the "kiddies" who are coming in and causing havock on the Arma servers. They have a weird sense of "reality". I guess were the next target.
  20. Is that one of those female pets that gripes and bitches when every you spend a single dime on something YOU want?
  21. meh. Again a ridiculously priced stick and it doesn't even have a throttle. This is why this sim is so niche. You can't afford a joystick that's able to play it well.
