Since there is no squadron number on the nose, it also can be 37105... ;-)

About the #38: do all aircraft in a flight in DCS have the same skin and tailnumber?
-
Great teaser and the visuals are outstanding! (scraping the bottom of my wallet for new hardware........)
-
And the video, just found on YT:
-
For some reason Firefox only showed the badge, while playing the sounds. Luckily I could switch over to Chrome and watch most of it. It's looking good! The cockpit looks quite convincing. What I did notice was two identical tail numbers. I don't know DCS very good: is that always the case, using the same skin for every aircraft in a flight??

Part of the S upgrade was to remove the possible use of the center pylon for weapons.
-
If the AJS version is properly modelled, then: no.
-
Low level attacks, however much fun they are in a sim, are quite deadly for the attacker in modern manpad territory. I don’t think any airforce is relying on it anymore.
-
In the above picture of the JA37, yes. Not in the picture of the F7 aircraft, you can compare them.
-
Not only that, but also the vertical stab and the number of hinges (3) on the main wing are a big givaway that it isn't a JA37, which had 4 hinges:
-
That was quick ;-)

Air-air combat would be a very last resort: the big wing makes a first tight turn possible but then the energy is gone which can’t be gained again unless the turn is widened quite a bit: making the Viggen a sitting duck for any more agile adversary. So the Viggen pilot would have to make the kill in the first turn. I have seen HUD footage from a mock dogfight between an F-16A and an AJ37. Every time the back of the Viggen became visible in the HUD after 1 or 1.5 minute max. The sidewinders really are a last resort. Viggens were never ment as dogfighters.

Thanks for your reply! Indeed it did. Somewhat confusing: the name of the axis was the same axis as the throttle (JOY_Z) but it works. Next question: is it possible to assign wheelbrakes (also differential? I see only one wheelbrake option in the All list) to an axis? Or is it keyboard only?
-
Do you mean this drop down menu? Only the joystick axis are visible. See screenshot. When I clear the input and choose 'default' I get the JOY_RZ back. Which isn't the right one.
-
Amazing detail! And when it is visible on the website, I don't really see a problem in linking to it.
-
Yep, apparently I decribed it recognisable ;-) I didn't show it because of copyrights.

About the crashes: in Sven Stridsberg Viggen book it is illustrated at page 77. The left wing bent at the root, completely upwards even damaging the vertical stabilizer. Then it came loose all together and slammed to the right wing, damaging that one too. CN 37011.
-
Thanks, that solved the spiking! Now find the axis for the rudder (CH pedals): the only option is JOY_RZ but that's not the right one. If I clear it and try to add an axis, only the HOTAS JOY_X, Y and Z axis are displayed though the CH is visible in the controls screen. Where can I find the right axis for it? Also for the wheelbrakes?

I have a TM Cougar with Hall sensors (Über 2 mod) which is fine in BMS and COD. I just installed DCS world in advance of the upcoming Viggen mod and at my first (free) flights in the SU25 and D51 my controls were constantly spiking which made flying virtually impossible: both the stick and the throttle behaved irraticly. They did respond more or less to my inputs, but at the same time moved all over the place. The Cougar is connected directly to the mainboard of my PC: no HUB in between. Any ideas?

Let me guess,... 300 feet? 450 at the most? :pilotfly:

That's too much honour, IF it's an honour ;) I read the PM: we have a plan :-)
-
............... guilty as charged......... ;)
-
I already was afraid that I needed upgrading. This is a perfect excuse :-)

The AJS37 will definitively be a reason for me to buy DCS. I hope it will run OK on my rig, which is a 'few' years old: Intel dualcore 6750, 4Gb RAM, AMD Radeon 6950. Would that be sufficient for an acceptable framerate at 1920x1080?
