  1. Who needs an AMRAAM when you can get METEOR? ;-)
  2. I didn't know about a possible Swiss deal. The late Robert Dorr wrote a chapter about the 'Viggens that weren't to be', but didn't mention Switzerland.
  3. That wasn't the case if I'm not mistaken. Sweden was for a long time the sole non-NATO user of the aim-120. Viggen was quite expensive in comparison and tailor-made for the Swedish situation.
  4. I wonder if the cougar throttle will do. It has a microstick and two rotaries. Plus some switches.
  5. It gave the US the possibility to veto the deal in those days. The US and India weren't real friends back then.
  6. I do have official flight characteristis of the JA37 (lots of graphs of the aerodynamics), also photographed, but I don't know if I'm allowed to share them. They were used for the JA37Di in that other, F-16 focussed military flightsim which-must-not-be-mentioned here.
  7. With a modern professional scan and print utility it's mainly a matter of putting a heap of pages on a drawer, push a few on-screen buttons and getting a cup of coffee. It scans while you fika ;-)
  8. Nice extension of the stick! Did you make that yourself?
  9. I thought it would be green leather with a head rest ;-) But nice camo!
  10. Awesome job on the cockpit and instruments! I have been sitting in the AJSH37 at Lelystad and it all looks very familiar. One question though: I have been lucky enough to have been in the pilot's seat for a few minutes when it was demilitarised by the Swedish crew. They did activate the electric system while I was in it and among others I noticed the compass ring moving at startup to the right position with a soft ticking sound (the aircraft had been moved since it's last flight). Is that simulated too?
  11. Out of curiosity: would it be possible for LN to provide basic, realistic Viggen profiles for much used HOTAS sets from e.g. TM, CH and Saitek? It would save a lot of customers a lot of work.
  12. I experience very short login times on this forum. I haven't measured it, but I think after 5 minutes or so I am logged out automaticly. When typing and editing a little longer post I have to copy the final text and log in again to post it. I can't find a setting for it, but maybe I am overlooking something. Any idea?
  13. This was the first Grudge match I watched and I enjoyed it very much. Hook did a really great job, covering the highlight of the moment. In the past I have been a part of a demo team that flew 'that other sim' and though we flew a thoroughly scripted and trained mission live for a live audience, the 'cameraman' still had to stay 110% focussed not to miss anything. So not a grain of criticism from my side. Well done Hook! Thanks for this great event! And the Viggen is a must-buy of course :-)
  14. Poster here yet?
  15. Trust pays off, just like thrust by the way ;-)
  16. I took a look at UltraMFCD but I saw that it is aircraft-specific. So (for me) the wait is for AJS37 to be released and wait if UltraMFCD will do the trick. Btw, I don't know anything about lua files. I googled it and programming isn't my cup of tea :wassat:
  17. Yep, a group of conscripts and one officer, rearming and refueling the jet in 10 minutes or so. There was an exercise where they managed to pull out 11 sorties in one day for the same aircraft.
  18. The AJSH37 in Lelystad (Aviodrome) has this metric-imperial table below the HUD: Viggen pilots also had to do some conversion ;-) Btw, this Viggen also had a repaint in shiny, wrong colors.
  19. Sweden would never be able to withstand a massive Sovjet invasion, but they could make it an unwanted option in terms of losses and gains.
  20. These books are in English. The 'System 37' book is more about the political background than about the aircraft itself.
  21. It would be great if it's implemented! We just have to await the manual :-)
  22. Nice, I was already hoping I could use my two F-16 MFD screens in DCS
  23. A somewhat technical DCS question: is it possible in DCS to send e.g. the radar image and/or cockpit gauges to a second screen?
  24. No, that is a unique feature of the JA37. It requiers a sophisticated A-A radar which the AJS37 doesn't have.
