  1. It is suppose to be based off Masters of the Air. The book was really great but I wonder what kind of roll it will take in this movie. It did not follow just one squadron in the 8th Air force. Instead it really does a good job of depicting the relationships between the commanders. There is a lot of dialog between Hap Arnold and Spaatz as they develop a strategic bombing campaign. So if the mini series is truly going to be based off the book you might expect to see more scenes between the top brass of the newly minted 8th instead of a growing bond between brothers in arms like you did in BoB. Either way I'm sure it will be a great series, and I can not wait to see it!
  2. I am definitely looking forward to this! I really enjoyed Donald miller's book masters of the air. I can only imagine what this production will be like.
  3. Looking forward to seeing you guys there tomorrow!
  4. Thanks man! Love your work as well!
  5. :megalol: Don't know about the voice but I can sport a decent aftro. Would you also believe I made this livery with a knife and the color turquoise? My only regret is that I forgot the add a happy tree. lol
  6. Since I agree I might as well chime in. I think Mainstay's point about the additional modules creating a problem for a one stop shop for all your liveries is spot on.
  7. Thanks! Glad you all like it. :D
  8. Just a quick update- Sorry to those who have been trying to access the server teamspeak channel over the last few days. We were performing some server maintenance which required some down time. As of today everything is back up and running as it should be.
  9. Thanks! This was probably the most difficult skin I have attempted, it might not seem like it but it took a bit of work to get all the stripes to line up on the tail section. I read woodbine red leader as well and it's cool to see a few of you have read Mustang Ace also. I really liked corralating the same events but from different points of view. Another interesting read is Richard Curtis' book Dumb but Lucky. He was part of the 52nd stationed close to san severo. In his book Richard talked about going to visit his flight instructor's brother (from basic training) who was part of the 31st, but when he got there he found out that his instructors brother had been killed in a mid air collision a month earlier. In mustang ace you might remember the part when Robert was on his way to a party at some cabin when some local kids flagged him down because they found a fresh crash site of two mustangs that you later learned collided into each other during a training mission. Robert didn't give the pilots name but I suspect those two accounts that each talked about in their book is of the same tragic event. I thought that too at first but now to me it seems more like they painted the serial number back over the stripes. Just because the red stripe look like a pretty heavy layer of paint. If you look at the first plane though the number 5 is still covered by the stripe... I know this was not uncommon too. The 332nd (red tails) painted over top of the serial number too. So yeah I was at odds on it but evidently settled on the reproduction one. I figured if someone was going to do it like that on a real p51 then they probably did their homework.
  10. from what I have seen I believe that is correct. but then there are some historic pictures of other planes in the group where it appears they have gone back over the numbers that were covered by the stripes. Image from: http://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/p-51-mustang/p-51-mustang-31-fighter-group-5/ If anyone has a historical image of the tail section it would be cool to know for sure.

    Flying Dutchman

Just finished one of my favorite liveries, the Flying Dutchman flown by Lt. Robert Goebel. I got hooked on this plane after reading Goebel's book Mustang Ace. Flying Dutchman Download Link
  12. +1 Merlin, looking forward to those improvements when we get there. I know there is a lot you are doing behind the curtains. It's pretty hard to imagine what the DCS WWII multiplayer scene would be like if it were not for your generosity.
  13. I think a huge improvement would just be the option to select a skin when you log into a server instead of being forced to use the ones (which you may or may not have) that mission designer chose when they created the mission.
  14. Well you know what they say, you reap what you sow :D It's a known issue. We are trying to determine the best way to fix it but nothing we have tried has been the answer. Hattrick (the author of the mission) suggest the best fix if the problem persist is to A) change to the other side or B) exit and rejoin the server. The bug seems to be related to the air siren trigger which goes off when a new member respawns. For some reason when a plan spawns there is a random chance that the triggers we recognize that plane as an enemy unit.
  15. Wow those look really great! I really like the exhaust residue. There are so much attention to details in Tom's work that really makes his liveries stand out!
  16. Perfect, thank you!! This is just in time as I am working on our groups next livery pack
  17. Not an official one that I know of. Hopefully soon though!
  18. Looks like I got some homework, thanks! This action tool sounds like it could be the best thing since slice bread. There is so much repetitive stuff I do for each members skin.
  19. Wow thank you for this. I will definitely try this out when I get home. Just one question... All this time I have been making liveries with the template split into four files (like with the mustang). From your instructions it sounds like there is an automatic way to use the nvidia plug in to split the complete texture file into four? Could you maybe explain how that is done? I know I could do it manually. But I am really interested in how this could be done automatically.
  20. Good thing he deleted it, if others knew he flew on there it might overload the server :P
  21. Thanks, hopefully it can be a good base for others. I just check and the file is still under review by ED. I have no idea when it will become available. Usually it only takes a day or two. However, this time it appears to be taking a little longer. Probably because of the weekend. Hey, I got the link for your template. When I get time I will look at it. I'm currently working on a new DoW member's skin at the moment.
  22. ha ha I should have figure that out. Thanks! Thanks, hopefully the default one will be updated eventually.
  23. Sorry, I don't have any experience with the animated pop texture. I thought I saw another forum on here a while ago that had a solution for it. Hopefully someone who knows better can help you out because I am interested in knowing as well.
  24. I've been flying on it off and on today. It does go down for a short amount of time occasionally but for the most part it remains 24/7
