  1. This will work but just make sure you save the mission as a different name because it will be overwritten in the next update. I just checked my mission editor and it says the skin is USAF 363rd FS, 357th FG DESERT RAT. but again, if you change the skin file save it as a new name or it will be overwritten in the next update.
  2. I know what you mean. I'm sure they had their reason behind it, but man I wish it was just one large skin texture instead of four!
  3. Never mind... I just looked closer, you have the offset in your skin.
  4. The skin looks really good! I noticed there is a slight offset from the fuselage stripes and the "E" as well but other than that, it looks spot on to me. Nice work!
  5. The highest scoring ace of the 357th FG, nice choice! Not sure when I will have time, but it looks easy enough. I'll give it a go when I can, unless someone else beats me to it.
  6. Now you're on to something!
  7. Yeah, and like I said I updated the texture file so now it only has the patch and body textures plus the install directions I posted earier today for tttiger. It hasn't been reviewed yet so it can't be accessed at this time but it usually only takes them a day or two to review and accept user uploaded files.
  8. JSGME is definitely the way to go. I'm not positive but I think that any default skin you modify will be replaced the next time you update DCS World. I use JSGME for all my mods including skins. It keeps everything clean. I just didn't think to go that far back in describing how it works for a thread on pilot textures. By far the best thread that covers everything you need to know about JSGME can be found here. In addition to to what Fifi said about changing the property of the file to allow read and write of the description.lua file, I'll add that I never ran into any trouble like tttiger descried with saving those files. I used notepad++ though. Not sure how notepad++ could change the file with out read/write authorization but like I said the issue never came up. If you are still having trouble just do save as... Name it something else, then delete the old description.lua file and rename the new one description.lua. Also I updated the WWII Pilot texture download. You really don't need the WWII Pilot helmet file. You already have that file installed in the game you just need to make sure you have the Id = 4 at the bottom of the description.lua file. If you ever want to make your own unique helmet with your name or something on it then add that file to your desired skin folder and use the line of code I posted that had to do with the helmet. (that probably sounds confusing so maybe it's just best not to worry about it lol)
  9. Lookin good! tttiger, your P-51 skins are located here: (DCS Game Root Directory)\Bazar\Liveries\P-51D 1. Pick a skin you would like to add the WWII pilot to. Lets say USAF Big Beautiful Doll, for example. 2. Copy/paste the files from the "WWII US 15th Air Force Pilot Skin" download into the USAF Big Beautiful Doll folder (link to WWII Pilot Texture Download). 3. Within the Big Beautiful Doll folder is a file called "description.lua" you can open the file with notepad but it is better if you open it with Notepad++ (Download Link) 4. Copy the following text: {"pilot_P51_patch", 0 ,"pilot_P51_WWII_patch",false}; {"pilot_P51_body", 0 ,"pilot_P51_WWII",false}; 5. Replace the highlighted text line shown below ( {"pilot_P51_body", 0 ,"empy",false}; ) with the text you copied in step 4. 6. If it's not there already, copy/past this text: id = 4 -- USAF Pilot with WWII helmet into the very bottom of the description.lua file. When you are all done it should look like this:
  10. Make sure the last line in your description file says id = 4 like the picture below Not sure how to change the internal pilot yet... I don't really have the internal pilot enabled most of the time so this hasn't really been a an issue with me. If someone knows where the texture is located I'm sure it can be done.
  11. Cool, thanks! I'm glad to hear it was automatic.
  12. Noob question, how does one save a multiplayer track? Whenever I exit it doesn't ask if I would like to save my track like it does in single player.
  13. I just wanted to say I really enjoyed flying on the server today. Thanks to Doom for flying with me, I really appreciated all the good advice. look forwarding to joining you guys again next week! ~S
  14. Cool I will keep checking in then.
  15. Here is the Link to the WWII Pilot Textures
  16. Just a guess, 354th Pioneer Mustang Fighter Group?
  17. Sorry, I haven't been checking the forms lately. I just uploaded the pilot skin and corresponding 15th Army Air Force Patch to the user files section on the DCS main web page. I'll post a link in this forum once it has been reviewed and accepted. If you don't want to wait just PM your email and I will send it to anyone that would like it. Just be warned, all it is a modified version of the pilot flight suit template made to look like a WWII pilot jacket and khakis. It's good from far but far from good.
  18. I think I need to take a Friday off so I can catch this. Unfortunately I'm on the pacific coast and 13:00 is right in the middle of my work day.
  19. First attempt with Fraps and Adobe Premier. Just got hooked on this sim after discovering the DCW WWII: Europe 1944 Kickstarter.
  20. Thanks for all the info. I was able to make a0 custom face, patches, helmet, and body texture. Here is the text script I used. I put all my .dds files in the custom p-51D skin liveries directory. {"pilot_P51_patch", 0 ,"pilot_P51_Vulture_patch",false}; -- {"pilot_P51_helmet_B", 0 ,"pilot_P51_helmet_Whip",false}; {"pilot_P51_body", 0 ,"pilot_P51_WWII",false}; {"pilot_P51_head_A", 0 ,"pilot_P51_head_WHIP",false}; Worked like a charm... But how are you able to get those close up shots? You can't really get that close by hitting F2 and zooming in.
  21. I destroyed an AI 109 that was on the ground and saw that it had about 6 or 7 tail section laying around it in a circular pattern. The tail section was also still attached to the plane however the propeller blades were broken. Total newb question: In that video where the guy landed the plane with half a wing missing, how do you exit the cockpit with out ejecting your canopy? Sorry I'm at work so it's not like I can just open the game and look for the key commands at the moment.
  22. I had the same error when I tied to auto update. I believe the auto update checks for updates once a day. I think that is why it did not prompt you to update again after if failed and you closed the program. Regardless, the manual update steps mentioned above worked for me as well...
  23. I know it just came out today, but I am curious if anyone who has this issue has noticed an improvement with the release of DCS 1.2.6 update 1. I don't have this problem but a squad member does so I have been trying to help him out. He is running an ATI 7970 and I have a GTX 560ti graphics card. We can't figure out why he gets FPS drop when firing his guns and I don't. 1.2.6 Update 1 doesn't not mention any kind of bug fix for this issue, which I find very disappointing since it appears it has been around for a while.
