  1. S! From all the memoirs I have read about German Bf109 aces only Marseille was known to use flaps a lot in combat, very successfully that is. But he was a master handling his plane and extremely good marksman as well. Lipfert, Rall, Knoke, Hartmann and many others others never mention using them, except for landing. Anyways using them in combat is risky if the opponent can "hide" his E-state and make you deploy them, thus bleeding your E = you are in trouble. Especially risky at low altitude where you can not regain E by diving or your aircraft is slow to accelerate vs. the opponent.
  2. S! You are sure you did not have manual prop pitch on and engine went to over-RPM situation?
  3. S! Nailed a perfect landing last night! What I did was..On approach manual prop pitch, set to 11:30. Trim to "zero", open radiators, flaps down and gear down. Lock tailwheel. Approach at around 200km/h and over threshold cut throttle, pull back stick to get a 3-pointer and keep stick fully back. Touches down at around 140-150km/h. Hit the brakes when firmly on ground. No verring or wing dip. Yes! I do agree with the poster above about the struts. They seem very bouncy so this means they have too high pressure in them. And how is tyre pressure modelled? Has an effect as well. Anyways, now to the Dora. Need to train on it as well.
  4. S! I do have tail wheel locked and stick back ;) I went through reports on flying the 109 and none mention the wing dip. Only thing they mentioned was that the plane was to be kept straight during rollout with brakes, so it would not ground loop. And it was hard if pilot forgot to lock the tailwheel. Anyways, back to training :) I love the challenge.
  5. S! Been honing the landings on the Kurfürst. There is no problem setting it on the runway on a 3-pointer at desired speed, at all. But the problem seems to be this VERY strong tendency to dip the wing, even at low speeds after landing. It would break the landing gear if the plane would be skidding around with one gear. I've read many Bf109 pilot memoirs and none of them mention this "dip a wing" during roll out. Only thing mentioned was that they considered landing on a concrete/asphalt runway slightly trickier due better traction. My problem might be that I do not have toe brakes on my pedals, so old ones. I still do not not believe the prop torque at idle is strong enough to dip the plane on it's wing. Anyways, fun plane to fly so back to training.
  6. S! Same here. Change of page on kneepad kills sight etc. Just toggle on/off on the kneepad works if you do not touch anything else.
  7. S! Also bought the Kurfürst. Quite a beast! Just wondering about a couple of things. Why on earth is the flare gun stuffed in the tube? Pilots did not keep it there, but in their pocket(in flight pants) or similar. Another quirk is the strange behaviour on take off. Every single time when taking off, and even everything goes smoothly, the plane at some point just wants to roll over 90deg to left. This happens when you are already airborne and with enough speed. I find it odd as the plane can be perfectly centered ball and wings level, then it just snap rolls to left all the sudden. Anyways. Great addition to DCS, loving it along with all the other planes :)
  8. S! Bought the P51D and Combined Arms to accompany my A-10C :) Now I have to study the manuals and configure my controls..
  9. S! Found the way by searching around a bit ;) DL and use my DVD key as it seems to be valid to the 1.2.4 too. Sorry for n00bishness ;)
  10. Indeed S! That is true, F/A-18C can not carry any other missiles in wintip stations (LAU-7/7B) than AIM-9-series. Depending on user the coolant for the seekerhead is in a separate bottle inside the LAU-7 or inside the missile itself. Most usual cooling medium is argon or nitrogen. :pilotfly:
  11. Hello! There is one very visible bug to me in the Hornet. This concerns the AIM-120C AMRAAM missile and how it is hung on the wing pylons in game. At the moment it is hung as a single missile with the fins of the missile pointing inside the pylon. First of all AMRAAM can NOT be hung on the SUU-63 wing pylon directly. The pylon itself has only ability to hold an external tank or a bomb directly locked to it's BRU-32 locking mechanism. As a sidenote only the inner hardpoints 3, 5(center) and 7 can hold a fuel tank and feed it to the plane. Outer hardpoints 2 and 8 are "dry". Only F/A-18E has 2 pairs of "wet" pylons each wing + centerline with one 3rd "dry" outside them. To hang an AMRAAM you need 3 items: one LAU-115 rack with two LAU-127 rails attached to it on both sides. These rails can hold AIM-9's, AIM-7's and AIM-120's. The combo of LAU-115 and LAU-127's is hung into the SUU-63/BRU-32 and coupled to the plane via the pylon using a wire bundle. I wish this could be corrected as it prevents pretty effectively using for example correct loadouts for A2A. Pictures of the launchers attached to a F/A-18 can be found in public sources very easily. Sorry if I sounded nitpicky, but making a great product even better can't be bad ;)
  12. Privet all! Owning all Flanker titles from 1.0 to Flaming Cliffs and now finally into movie making, which turns out to be a pain :( I need to make a video demonstrating an attack of the fearsome Su24M supported by appropriate fighter screen and SEAD escort. It is clear I need to fly one plane for certain details I need, but to the issue... How can I see how I have placed the objects on the field etc? It would be very neat to check them before running the mission, like in IL-2 where you can switch to 3D and back to the normal map/terrain view. Is this possibility included in Lock-On?:helpsmilie: Thank you for answers in advance
