That is what I needed! Just tested and works well. I can control my plane now without PTT and with VAICOM PTT commands. AMAZING! Thank you very much, Hollywood and happy holidays.
-
Well, found one of the answers myself :smilewink: For VAICOM to recognize aforementioned commands (like Radio Check etc.) needs the checked: Preferences - Extended Command set Still would like to know the meaning of the other mentioned commands (this question is not related to VAICOM but to DCS)
-
I am new to VAICOM. It is a great tool. Though I am not a native speaker I have been able to train WSR to understand cca 90% of commands I need. But some commands seem to do nothing: Radio Check/Heads up - nothing though I expect answers from my wingmen Smoke on/Smoke Off - nothing Server/Mystery - do not open F10 menu And I would like to know what is the meaning of these commands: Clear Right/left Pump And what is the difference between commands Join and Close Formation? THX

Great, THX Hollywood for info.

I am considering to buy VAICOM but I am not sure if it works with my current VA profile for DCS this way: Now I use VA to control my cockpits and I do not use PTT all. I am OK with using PTT for VAICOM commands to control AI, but I do not want to use PTT to control my aircraft. Is it possible to attach e.g. my DCS Spitfire profile via DAISY-CHAIN to VAICOM VA profile and use PTT only for VAICOM comands? THX

LCD 34" UQHD (better SA) or 32" QHD (better spotting)?

Got it, THX. You are right, but it does not mean I cannot change my mind. That is why I am asking for help. -

No sure if I understand, what do you recommend? Crisper image but harder spotting for 27" or not so good image but better spotting for 32"? -

What would be better for playing this sim? A) 34" WQHD (3440 × 1440) 21:9 offer wider view and so may be better SA B) 32" QHD (2560 x 1440) 16:9 offer larger pixels, so may be better spotting ability Additional specs I am looking for: min 120 Hz max 4 ms response time G-SYNC or G-SYNC compatible FreeSync VA or IPS (think IPS would be better) adjustable height price max cca 1000$ My preliminary choice are: A) Dell Alienware AW3418DW See here B) LG 32GK850G see here or Acer Predator Gaming Z321QU bmiphzx see here or Samsung C32HG70 see here (but not sure if it is G-sync compatible) Any suggestions welcomed, THX.

Thx for links. Easy installation looks very promising!

Thx very much for the answer Catseye! I have just compared glasses for near vs distant viewing and I have to agree with you :-) Distant viewing glasses works better inside headset. Though cockpit is a tiny less sharp for me, it is still very good readable. But the scene rendered oustide the cockpit is much more clearer now and I can see planes better too. So for VR, glasses for distant viewing are definitely the right solution. Question: I think lens insert are better solution then glasses. Unfortunatelly my doughter play with the headset too (and she do not need glasses) so I would have to frequently put the lenses on/off. What is your opinion - is frequent changing of the insert lens possible or not recommended?
-
I am not sure if I understand you correctly: I am slightly shortsighted (myopy = bad vision of distant objects) as well as slightly farsighted (hyperopia = bad vision of near objects). So I use two separate glasses. I tested glasses I use for reading (ie glasses for hyperopia) with Rift S and it improves my VR vision. I thought it is the right solution, because VR headset use small LCD positioned close to the eyes . But you talk about Rift S being set for distant vision. Does it mean I need to use for VR glasses improving my shortsightednes (myopy) instead? THX

This part of fuel pipe shoud be made of glass - for visual check of fuel flow. (Schauglass für Kraftstoffzusatzanlage)

Great! Thanks Kodoss. Description of Circuit breaker panel buttons is exactly the info I was not able to find out.
-
I think, only one question concerning managing MW50 in Bf 109K now remains: Where in cockpit is located "circuit breaker" alias "Security switch" alias "Sicherungsschalter"? I guess it should be one of the buttons on the "Circuit breaker panel" (left side).
-
Very ilustrative scheme, thanks Altflieger. As for pilot's controls for MW50 it seems to me there are only 4: 1) Switching lever for accumulator valve [schalthebel für Ventillbaterie] on left side of cockpit (JAPO scheme n. 5, Cockpit orig. scheme n. 4) - select between MW50 or Fuel stored in MW50 tank. 2) Ein-Aus switch [Einsatzklarschalter] on instrument panel (JAPO scheme n.7, Cockpit orig. scheme n.25) 3) Security switch [sicherungsschalter] somewhere on the (right) side of cockpit (JAPO scheme n. 6, Cockpit orig. scheme n. ??) 4) Throttle lever in position "Notleistung" (110%) - cam (JAPO scheme n. 9) cause to switch the [schleppschalter] ON (JAPO scheme n. 8 ). (2, 3 and 4 must all be ON in order to complete el. circuit for start using MW50) JAPO scheme: (Causion: english description has mistakes in numbers)
-
Thanks Kurfürst, it is clear know to me. I am curious if DCS is going to model this feature :-) And what about other MW50 controlers in cockpit? (see my last picture from JAPO - post #83 - but WARNING: in english desription there are mistakes in numbers!!!). Using drawing from original manual: Japo picture (corrected numbers) = original cockpit drawing 4 accumulator valve (not in cockpit) 5 switching lever for accumulator valve = 4 Schalthebel für Ventillbaterie 6 automatic switch on instrument panel = 25 Kippschalter für MW - Anlage 7 switch on control panel = ? 8 switch at throttle lever = ? (rocker switch on throttle handgrip not used for manual prop pitch now?) 9 cam on the throttle lever (not operated by pilot) 10 pressure gauge = 34 Druckanzeigegerat für MW Anlage English translation (from manual for FSX Bf 109K from Flight Replicas):
-
I found this info from JAPO: MW50 was activated by moving throttle lever to position "Notleistung" (110%). This connected electric circuit (by means of cam located on the throttle rod) which opened valve and thus enabled flow of working substance from 118 L tank located behind fuel tank into the nozzle leading into compresor. (Japo - Bf 109 K, p. 27 - translation from czech language) And two ilustrations from the same book: 13 = Valve battery 21 = Valve accumulator lever I don't understand functions of switches 6, 7, 8 and 9 and don't know their exact locations in cockpit as well... BTW: how is activated bordnetz in Bf 109K ? (see post #77)
-
I read #7 before my post :-) But I simply don't understand why you think that "battery valve switch" = switch between normal fuel and MW 50? Would you give as pls source for this claim or explain that? IMHO accumulator has something to do with el. circuit and MW50 with fuel circuit - two different things. But may be I am wrong... I just want to understand how things in cockpit works :-) (no flame)

Ventilbaterieumschalter: What is purpose of this lever? Bf 109 K Could it be "netzeinshaltung" i.e. connecting el. net [bordnetz] to accumulator [sammler]? Bf109 E used knob on the right side behind the seat: Bf 109F as well: Bf 109G has handle with bowden cable: So I thing Bf 109K should have something similar... But name "ventilbaterieum" (accumulator valve) is somewhat confusing... BTW: there is on every bf 109 version button on the instrument panel for disconnecting el. net [bordnetz] from accumulator. Button is called Netzausschalter:

I would like to say few words about cockpit of Kurfirst: 3D model is amazing, I can't wait to sit into this cockpit! I know, it is WIP screen, but as for colors I think it is too much dark. I know it was painted RLM 66 (grey-black).. but every modeller know, that in scale one cannot use exact shade of original color but this color should be lightened in order details are clearly visible and overall impression acceptable for human eyes. So I think the color of the Bf 109K cockpit should be lightened because LCDs are much smaller than the size of real cockpits. See examples of two cockpits (scale 1:32) - both imitate RLM 66 - which gives better impression? 1) Original shade of RLM 66 2) Lightened RLM 66 (appropriately in scale)

I am a little bit confused about LOW stage of supercharger in P-51. Manual: The Packard engine delivers approximately 1490 horse power at sea level. It has a critical altitude of approximately 14,000 feet in low blower supercharger mode and a critical altitude of approximately 27,000 feet in high blower mode. The maximum altitude is approximately 40,000 feet. The supercharger ratios are approximately 6 to 1 in low blower mode and 8 to 1 in high blower mode. Is LOW stage ON from 0 ft altitude (until switching to HIGH at aprox 19500 ft)? Or there is supercharger completely OFF until LOW stage is ON at aprox 14000 ft? It seems to me, that LOW should be ON since the start od engine because MP on take off can be set to 61 inHg. If there was no supercharger, max MP could be max only approx 30 inHg (the same as atmospheric pressure). Am I right?

Thanks for comments. (I am just starting to learn how to aim with K14 - I have Saitek X52, so I mapped range adjusting to slider on the throttle and IMHO it is very easy controllable this way in combat)
