What do you think is a better solution for trim wheels: axis or encoders? Using axis is not sync with rudder nor elevator wheel trims in DCS Warbirds and particularly with Spit... The solution here uses encoders: ${1}

If Leatherneck Simulations plan their A6M5 only AI then I guess we will have to wait at least a few years before ED complete their planned WWII projects P-47, Mosquito and Me262 and then hope they decide to create one Japanese a/c.

Well, yea, that is a good possible solution. I solved this problem by modifying VA PTT TX1 Release compound command (I use only TX1 because I fly only WWII) by deleting command "Stop VoiceAttack Listening". So now I still have to use PTT in order to speak the commands to AI but VA is not stopped by releasing PTT button if I use not recognized command i.e. speaking via SRS.

THX very much for your answer Hollywood. I really appreciate what you and Ciribob are doing. Looking forward to the upcoming update. Happy new year Tapi

@Hollywood_315 I noticed that when using new PTT HOT function VA stays muted when I say anything that that is not recognized by VA profile. But if I say valid command or if i say nothing and only push and release button VA listening is correctly resumed. I use VAICOM and SRS together. And I have checked both "Use with multiplayer" and "SRS PTT Mapping" and of course, I have set ON the REL-HOT switch on the first tab. I use the same button on my hotas for VAICOM (set in the VoiceAttack config) and for SRS transmit (set in SRS controls tab). How can I avoid suspended VA listening after the sequence "push button" --> "say something" --> "release button" when in multiplayer and speaking to someone on SRS? Now I must after the end of every SRS transmission push-release button once again without speaking to set VA listening resumed.

OK, I tried no.5 mission again (for the third time) and this time I flew 2300 RPM and 0 boost almost all the way. And to my surprise there was no NO SINGLE SIGN OF ENGINE OVERCOOLING though most of the time my water temp was 50-55°C. We did two one pass strafing attacks (with RPM 2650 and +8 boost). Until the end of the mission no AI reported bingo fuel. All of us completed full mission route! Duration of mission was 1:05 hour and in my lower fuel tank remained cca 30 gal. Note: most of the time we flew at 3000 ft climbing only shortly at the beginning to 5000 ft to cross the front and the same on the return at the end of the mission. So I have to correct my conclusions from the previous post: It is possible to fly with with low rpm and low boost for a long time to save fuel without the engine starts to be too much overcool. The key for long range missions is probably not to climb high and do not involve in a long combat (either air combat or multiple strafing attacks) so not to let AI burn too much fuel.

Yes, that is precisely my feeling.

It is sad that such a relatively small map as the Normandy has so many inaccuracies comparing to the real world :-/ Though the new map upgrade is a good thing, IMHO the map shows still too many faults. Not only geographical ones but also graphical. It is very distracting to see such an abundance of ugly connected textures, like plain bright green textures placed on many different places e.g. on the borders of forests and surrounding fields or just between field textures... Some field textures ending in the sea (e.g. on the north west islands) or they are frequently not properly connected to other texture, rivers etc... Yes, there are some very nice 3D additions like Saint-Michel or Atlantic fortresses but this cannot hide the impression of the somewhat hastily creation of the map as a whole project. To tell the truth, the map reminds me very much another recently published map by the same company for another WWII sim... Let's hope that the new DCS WWII maps are prepared with more love and enthusiasm (and hopefully not by Ugra media).

I would prefer to use embedded VOIP. But so far I was not able to find anyone connected...

Well, just tried no.5 mission again and now with slightly better result. I flew 2400-2500 RPM and 4-7 boost and tried to fly smoothly and with only minimum commands concerning AI formation. We did two ground attacks with one pass each only. The first "bingo fuel" from AI came in a cca half of the pre-planned way and so I asked ATC for direct vector home a we all RTB. No wingmen lost. EDIT: While in the mission, once happened my engine started to cough and I noticed that water temp is only 55°C. I immediatelly add throttle and RPM for about 30s and water temp rose above 60°C and engine started to run smoothly again... IMHO this confirms my suspicion that DCS Spit cannot fly for a long time under 2650 RPM and +7 boost without overcooling...

THX. I have just reposted my question there: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=240268 To admins: this thread can be deleted

I have just flown mission no. 5 (the long one) and there was a serious problem with fuel. Near Evreux, all my wingmen reported bingo fuel, so I have to send them RTB. There were only two short attacks on ground targets recently and the rest of the time I ordered them to fly in a finger four formation. So why they burnt so much fuel? The second flight (Enfield 2) do not have the fuel problem so soon. But before Argentan I noticed fuel shortage too, so I have to ask for vector to Saint Croix base and return ASAP too. How can I manage my fuel and fuel of my wingmen better? NOTE 1: To avoid the danger of overcooling my engine I flew 2850 RPM and +7 PSI boost but the temperature of the water was still very low (just above 60°C). Hmm it seems to me that the absence of the thermostat simulation is the culprit that leads to the higher fuel consumption rate because we cannot fly, e.g. 2650 RP and +4 boost with much lesser fuel consumption... NOTE 2: I am playing the campaign with the newly updated Normandy map (DCS open beta).

Hi, I did not find the thread about this campaign so I found this one. Yep, that works :-) Thanks, guys.

How is it, that you have only 1 line for "Keyword collection" section? I have many lines in my VAICOM profile - one line for each keyword. So I do not know how to replace keyword list from clipboard for all rows? Suppose it is not intended to repeat it for all lines. But if I replace only the line for the updated keyword it do not work...

Well, though not perfect, rendering trees on DCS Normandy map when LOD is changing is IMHO much better than in the other WWII sim that I cannot name here...

I am not a native speaker, that is why I prefer a lower confidence level - I have set it to 50%. How to train profile for the specific word - see attachment

Testing VAICOM with Spitfire. I have noticed few minor problems with commands recognition. While in testing mod every command is recognized well but in-game I noticed these commands are not recognized: 1) When I say "flight, go eschelon right", VAICOM understand "Flight, go eschelon left" instead. But if I say only "go eschelon right", command is understood correctly. 2) "Flight, go spread four" is not recognized but "go spread four" si understood correctly. 3) "Flight, go wedge" is not recognized but "go wedge" is understood correctly. Again, in testing mode, every single command phrase is understood correctly even the word "flight". It seems to me that the problem is how VAICOM evaluate compound commands i.e. "Flight" + "command". But only in some cases because some compound commands are understand correctly e.g. "Flight, go finger four"¨, "Flight, Radio check" etc...

Hi, here is my vid how one can start Spit with hands-off only with voice commands. IMHO could be useful especially for VR guys or for people without pricey hotas with thousands of buttons... Download link to my VA Spitfire profile HERE. List of all commands in my article HERE.

I compared the DCS Normandy with map from 1940s used for Kneeboard: The discussed cities are not there - see attachment According to the DCS map these should be fairly large towns. Link to the Hi-res map: HERE

It is great that the Normandy map was updated. But unfortunately, there are still many many faults.... It is a nightmare to navigate on this map. Few examples: a) Some towns on the DCS Normandy map cannot be found on real maps (even from 1940s), e.g. Heurtevent, Sourdeval, Ranchy etc. - see attachment b) Some towns do not have names on the map, e.g. Flers, Conde etc. - see attachment c) After zoom change, rivers can change shapes considerably, e.g. river Orne near Argentan - see attachments

I tried this - SEE ATTACHMENTS DCS exported terrain (.srtm files), but TacView does not show custom textures for Normandy... I need to see at least towns, roads and railways... What I am missing? HLP, please.
