  1. Is it true that the Vikhr is like five times cheaper than the Hellfire? Not a factor in the game, but important IRL.
  2. I think they should add what ever they want, and what ever they can model in great detail.
  3. Indeed, but it'll surely meet some enemy AA during missions - and what kind of AI those air defences have will not be irrelevant at that point.
  4. Oh yes, that 'later in DCS' may just have to be the A-10 module...:music_whistling:
  5. Which shouldn't be a problem in BS anyway since the Ka-50 does not have an RWR.
  6. AFAIK the HARM is inertially guided if the target radar shuts off - meaning it will fly to the radar signal's last position. The ALARM has the "loiter" ability, which means it flies up high, deploys a chute, waits until the radar is turned on again, and then ignites a secondary motor to attack it. As for LO, I don't think we'd even notice if these abilities are modelled, since the enemy AA never turns off radar...
  7. Sounds like an idea. Also, maybe mobile SAMs (Tunguska, Strela, etc) should move after launching a missile, or do some tactical maneuvering (moving behind buildings in towns, or something), because they are quite easy to dispatch once you've spotted them. Although IIRC such AI improvement are already planned in BS...
  8. Oh yes, that would be great.:music_whistling:
  9. Mi-24 ...OF COURSE :)
  10. Thanks for the report SuperKungFu!
  11. They couldn't be modelled with enough accuracy, let alone at study sim level - too little public info available for those.
  12. True, but the Gulf could have plenty of carrier ops too, and I was thinking about scoring some kills in the colors of the IRIAF.:captain: (By the way, sorry for the OT :) )
  13. A simple F-14A module alone wouldn't do justice - for utter awesomeness, we'd need a Persian Gulf terrain for it.:smartass:
  14. So what's the role of the Ka-50 anyway? It has flares against IR guided SAMs, indicating that the main threat for it are manpads, and other short range IR SAMs. It has LWR, which doesn't really matter much because few SAMs use laser guidance. Sounds like something for anti infatry combat, or something for assymetric warfare where the enemy doesn't have any high tech AA (guess it was like this in Chechnya). On the other hand it is equipped with the most advanced anti armor missile system russia has to offer, plus it's machine gun is almost fixed. That would suggest that it's rather for anti armor/vehicle. So ... it's something like: fixed wing AC perform SEAD strikes to clear the arera of any AA (assuming we already have air superiority), then they send it the Ka-50s to properly clean up whatever remains? Sorry for the noobish questions, it's just not quite clear to me what its role is...
  15. Does the Ka-50 have chaffs?
  16. I see. I was just curious because I play in 1024x768 and it's not that easy to spot ground vehicles from afar (like, from outside their radar range) - and even if I spotted them, identifying them is quite a challenge too (vanilla game, A-10). This Ka-50 stuff sounds like more and more of a challenge... :ermm::joystick:
  17. What screen resolution are you playing in?
  18. Maybe it (the LWR) also detects when tanks use laser to measure distance? Before firing. But then it'd be just a bleep or something before a STAFF round tears the chopper apart. (although I'm not sure if the STAFF is in DCS:BS)
  19. Oh agreed, this needs some work. Even the simple issue in Lock On when your A-10 wingmen engage ground targets with Mavs one by one (waiting for the first missile to impact before launching another one). Sure, BS is not about A-10, but it's planned, and anyway there are other units in the game who don't realise that their weapon of choice is actually "fire and forget"...
  20. Looks like most of the time you'll have to rely on your Mark I Eyeball for survival ... scary. :)
  21. What? Like the scene where you're walking in front of the trucks? Holy shhh...! I thought that was some clever camera movement script or edited footage or I don't know what ... wow! :) Anyway it's just cool. Last sim I remember you could walk around in was JSF. That was meaningful in there, cause if you ejected over enemy territory and quit the game, the pilot was lost - and since you had a limited amount of pilots, you had to consider the hour long trek to friendly territory ... :)
  22. Wow, just wow! You can walk around as a pilot? Awesome.
  23. I'm curious about this too...:music_whistling:
  24. Mig-29S or SMT? SMT would be cool...
