  1. I'll promote whatever I think is good software, get over yourself, it's free donation ware. Your information is wrong about number of cores and hyperthreading. I've never had any stability issues with it.

The only chipsets and corresponding CPU's that seem to benefit by setting core affinity are X99 and X299, maybe X79 too. If you like to do the math yourself, do it, ProcessLasso is the easy way.

Imho, for any Desktop Chipset/CPU later than Z170 it's not having any benefit. likely the contrary.

This horse has been beaten to death over and over on these forums and really, the only clear benefit were people with X99 chipsets if you read through this and other threads over the years.

  2. Thank's Sn8ke_iis,

    I will check his posts.

It seems to have fixed itself back to the point where it "mostly works, kind of build in Anti Locking Brakes. I worked the button in&out directly, not with the Pinky Lever and it seems that all i may need is a touch of electronic cleaner spray on that button and work it a little. If I press it in hard the button lights up in cpanel. It's just not ultra reliable.

Depending on how much work it is I may put in a new one. Soldering would be no problem for me but I always fear those tiny cables and connectors etc. like on laptops. 1, 2, 3 and it's broken LoL

Thanks for pointing me into the right direction :smilewink:

  3. The Ka-50 for example can take 1 or 2 hits from a manpad and still fly home. It's gonna be an interesting ride home but I have done this many many times...with a sore forearm afterwards LoL.

If it gets hit by an AMRAMM for example it's usually too much damage with high probability of Pilot death, same with larger SAM.

Contrary, the Mi-8 seems to suffer the most from the incomplete damage model, most any small arms fire will cause you to spiral downward or Pilot death.

The Huey is a lot tougher and somewhere in between the two above imho, but I dont fly it often.

Looking forward to the better damage model.

  4. Germany, or our politicians, decided to opt out oh Nuclear Power Plants way over a decade ago, long before Fukushima happened, then, as the balance shifted after elections, the tried to opt out of the opt out ( sounds like a joke ), meaning that they prolonged the time until they would be shutdown, I dont recall the exact years for either plan, then..politics changed dramatically after Fuku again and suddenly they all agreed to opt out of the opt out of the opt out. LoL.

We have a larger plan going on here, building a better power grid to distribute the renewable energy from roofs, wind mills and other sources better througout the nation and Europe.

That costs a lot of money and since businesses ( heavy industry ) are LEFT OUT in this finance plan, the end user, us, pays the bill, Its called the EEG Shifting.

We have a few nukes left, actually the world's most powerful NPP is in Bavaria as I got told in a tech video from a famous Physicist but ultimately, we will shut them all down.

The battle goes on, Cole Plants are still alive and will have to be kept alive for buffers if there is no wind during night times etc.. It aint easy but most citizens agree with the plan, despite many struggle with the kWh price, no wonder.

If it makes sense to opt out of nuke power while France and Belgium have their oldest NPP#s next to our border, time will tell.

I do know that the chances for a WCS is 1 in 25.000 years. Not much

BUT...do the math. There are over one thousand of those world wide, that is a fact, so devide 25.000 by 1000 and you get down to 1 incident every 25 years, round about the time between Tchernobyl and Fukushima...the clock ticks down again.

We are such a densely populated country, as most european countries, that we would need to evacuate millions of people if one blew up.

It's a complicated matter, we all wanna go back to nature, but most dont wanna go by pedes but in a nice car, E-car. That will again shift energy usage towards electricity, away from fossile sources. Very very complicated. If they would sell enough E-cars this whole plan goes up in smoke I goes.

  5. Here's the answer from my fellow friend Larry, a veteran OH-6 Vietnam Pilot:

    ****************************************************************************

There is no change in pitch for the rockets but there is of course a weight change depending on how many you launch at one time. Most of the time you shoot in pairs but you can do many more or just salvo the load. The mini-gun will cause a change in attitude opposite the direction of target but small for the gunships. The change is a lot in the smaller OH -6 and will throw you off target if not anticipated.

The new gun ships use smart weapons so if locked on it will go find the target much easier than aiming the aircraft at the target as us older pilots did.

    ****************************************************************************

  6. Unfortunately I havent seen one of my pals in years, he flew Cobra in Vietnam and should know this. If I can get a hold of him, I will squeeze that out of him.

The helicopter will change it's attitude, that is clear. No action goes without a counter reaction, be it thrust being deflected by some metal part of the tube or airframe, or the loss in weight, or both, I dunno, but I know it will surely not stay as it was. The faster you move the harder it gets to disturb the moving mass, so this will change with speed, I just dunno how much and if it is relevant for a specific helicopter. I could imagine that the deflected thrust might disturb the airframe, launching multiple ones then even more. Looking at thrust nozzles, those are quite small, I could imagine that.

I do know that the cobra needed FULL rudder on take-off until it had quite some forward speed, that he told me ;) Maybe worth a note.

There is another guy I know who flew choppers in Nam, the small Special Forces one, but his civ job at RAB ended and he's likely back in the US. I might get a hold of him.

    * Wrote an email to my friend, I hope he is still with us. Waiting for an answer.

  7. I used to have a deadzone when I got the TiR a few years ago but over time I ended up with no deadzone. It was rather disturbing when the deadzone was left and suddenly the view kinda jumped away.

For years now I have a "DCS" profile that is shaped like a shallow bowl, it speeds up a little the more I turn to grasp a fast "check-six" view.

You need to play around with it, try a few different settings and then settle on one and get used to it.

Perception is different between people, so what suites me might not fit anybody else.

I attached mine, rename it to DCS.xml and import it to :

    C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles

    DCS.xml.txt

  8. Sn8ke_iis,

I can assure you it got even more expensive over here since you left.

Due to the nationwide change to renewable energy we pay an extra on top of our already extraordinary high kW price. Many people here struggle with paying their electricity bills.

My household, ALL LED, pays about 160€/month, which is way way too much. The price for 1 kWh is 0,30 € incl. all taxes and that EEG extra obulus :(

Back in the days I had 2 waterbeds, 1 Server, NO LED, and I payed about the same with 2.5x-3x the consumption. If we hadn't changed our habits I'd be paying ~500€ a month for that.

BTW, Germany got the highest kWh price in whole Europe and it is only going one way, UP.

Time to get the candle out and employ a few Hamsters + Wheel :)

  9. Retailer has tested the card and found it faulty. Instead of sending it back to ASUS for repair and another three month wait, they are dispatching a new one immediately, so hopefully it will be here early next week.

They are treating it as a new order, even has the price paid on their system as if I paid for it, (but nothing to pay) so warranty reset to day one.

I hope it is one from a late batch with the kinks ironed out.......

That's how such a thing should be handled. If they reset the warranty to "brand new" it's even better.

    Let's hope the best

  10. It's not only FAST RAM but you also need a TIGHT latency.

3200 CL14 would be great, you can try to tweak it to CL12 even for example.

    or

3600 CL16 and try to tweak it to CL14.

In all cases, try to get modules based on Samsung B-die, those overclock best and allow tighter timings either out of the box or with some increased voltage.

Ask the seller if what you intend to buy has Samsung B-die.

If you want to learn about RAM overclocking/tighter latency with Ryzen, watch the vids from Actually Hardcore Overclocking. He#s the guy for that special case. He's got plenty of vids online and dont be afraid about the length and overkill on info...after the tenth, or twentieth video you'll get the hang ;)

  11. Please doublecheck your available RAM in your OS !

The last line says you have not enough free space on E to save the track.

**"2019-12-07 16:38:20.723 WARNING DCS: file 'E:\Saved GameSSD\DCS\Tracks\Multiplayer\server-20191207-164429.trk' skipped due to large size, 16.921383 MB"**

Google says you got Win10-v1903. Is that correct ? If yes, somethimng with your RAM is screwed.

  12. Thing is, the manual and common sense says, only use it when you are not tired, not stressed but in good condition. I am nowhere near that state at 8 or 9pm when I have 1-2h left.

Once my youngest son is a bit older and won't need that much care anymore things will get better again, I have been there before a couple times, LoL, so I take it as it is.

But I may give that a try, if I find the time to reinstall and put it up again. Not having it on the table also means he cant break it. he's 2yand 2 month old and loves my PC and my tools. It's hard to keep him away from that desk...and I always let them so they have their fun and early introduction into PC#s and tools like drillers and cables, old PCI cards, all that kinda stuff.

BTW, he woke up...ahhhh another round of "BACK 2 BED" haha

  13. With XMP and Turbo on you have unleashed most of the power of your rig.

FYI, this already is considered as overclocking.

Step by step, take it slowly so you understand what you are doing. It's no shame to watch 20+ videos about that topic before you go hands on. It may not even be needed. YOu will see once you fly if your GPU is not at 99% most of the time.

    Take it easy

  14. The more apps you have running aside from DCS, the more more cores do matter to keep it smooth. Tho I dont think you see a noticeable difference between a 8700k anda 9900k at same Ghz. Those extra 2 cores + HT will not matter imho.

A 8700k 6c/12t is plenty for DCS even if you use OBS and others simultaneously.

Save those bucks until it really makes a difference imho.

  15. The VAT on top is an issue, fortunately I buy mine w/o that due to business purchase, so i get it refunded by our IRS ;)

But it is not fast enough to drive my screen ALWAYS above 120fps to be past the Track-IR's stutter range. I can hold 60fps with decent settings with my 1080ti and as long as a new card wont turbo me past 120fps I am not gonna buy one. I dont use my VR, it causes nausea and I have it deinstalled. So I might buy again a 4080ti or AMD then, but only 20-30fps more for an additional 500-700€ is not what brings me any further, i would still cap it at 60fps and void the whole expense.

    * good idea for the smaller board and singke card, makes perfect sense. By the time Vulkan comes and until it supports mGPU, if ever, a 1080ti and 2080ti will be old iron imo.

Sure, i would love a watercooled 2080ti, better SLI, and a 9900ks at 5.4G 64GB...but would it make a significant difference in my DCS perception, I doubt in my case.
