  1. Using the airflow over an interceptor's wing to raise one wing of the V-1, by sliding the wingtip to within 6 in (15 cm) of the lower surface of the V-1's wing. If properly executed, this maneuver would tip the V-1's wing up, overriding the gyro and sending the V-1 into an out-of-control dive. Maybe 2 dozen were destroyed this way out of how many total. V1s flew between 350 and 400mph. Btw, Kate Middleton`s grandfather flew anti V1 missions.
  2. The wing tips didn`t actually touch unless by accident. The practice was officially frowned upon and doing so was an admission of bad gunnery since all the ammo had been used.
  3. V2 launch sites were very heavily defended by AA guns. The odds would be you would be the one taken out.
  4. Yah Solty there was something bugging me about that photo. Notice the double road wheels also missing in the colour photo. Photo from http://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/germany/tanks-2-3/tiger-tank/
  5. You do realize the outer road wheels are not fitted in the photo.
  6. The rear idler, not sprocket, runs between the teeth on the tracks.
  7. scroll down to coloured profiles with info. http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/nazi_germany/Panzer-VI_Tiger.php
  8. Looks like the link only went to a news article so click on 'online digitized collection' in the article. Type 'Normandy' into the Search box.

  10. I don't recall seeing what data is needed.
  11. Notice how well the Invasion Stripes are applied.
  12. "However the only 'fact' Ullmann cites in support is rather nebulous; high ranking & highly decorated pilots invariably received the latest equipment in an effort to maintain an advantage over their adversaries- rather over-looking the fact that the K-4 was proposed as an up-dated fighter-bomber variant." http://falkeeins.blogspot.ca/search/label/Erich%20Hartmann
  13. On Jan 1 1945 during Bodenplatte there was 2 G-6s that participated. Of the fighter force for Bodenplatte: Fw190A-8 - 30.5% Fw190A-9 - 2.4% Fw190D-9 - 19.8% Bf109G-14 (all models) - 30.2% Bf109G-10 - 6.2% Bf109K-4 - 10.9% The question should be where were the 588 G-6s built in Nov and Dec 1944? The last G-6s were built in Feb 1945 (9).
  14. Only 314 (~25%) out of 1192 manufactured to that date.:music_whistling: What is onhand and what is serviceable are not the same. On Jan 10 1945, JG27 and 53 had 180 serviceable a/c out of 247 onhand > 73% serviceable rate. Neither Gruppe was at establishment strength. What was the breakdown of the 109s by Front (East, West, South)? Can you post a link to the Jan 31 data?
  15. Just a little correction Kurfurst. "für die 200 rüstsätze für die truppenmässige umrüstung auf MW50 anlage ist des in Staaken erstellte mustereinbau massgebend, NW8 für MW50 förderleitung. Die zellengebundenen einbauteile werden nach auskunft von CB2 im reparaturwerk Erfurt und bei DLH Staaken erstellt. Der einbau des anlagen bei der truppe erfolgt nach unterlagen Staaken."

  17. http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/bombs.html Information on bombs used by the Luftwaffe in WW2.
  18. Well some some map is required for now. If no Caucasus or Nevada where would air combat take place?
  19. How many operational Bf109K-4s around in 1943?;)
  20. That is good to read, except that most of the air operations flown over Normandy were flown from English bases. Do these airfields placed using the Mission Editor show up on the opposing forces maps? Is this post invasion period up to what is called the Breakout?
  21. Isn't that the only way to make a map bigger > move the borders outward?
  22. Got bigger or smaller?
  23. I have only read a general description of the area covered for the Normandy map. When will we see a map showing what the actual area is, not necessarily the actual Normandy Map, to be released? example: or
  24. As Luftwaffe a/c were hard to find, 2TAF Spitfires were used in ground attack with bombs.
