[MiG-21 BiS] ASP Block Mod
LegoHeli replied to Mainstay's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I simply saved mine as a .tga from Photoshop and pasted it into the cockpit folder. It works without any problems. Make sure it overwrites (and take backup), dont just add it to the folder. -

Download the .rar in the second post, toggle the visibility of the wear if you like. The rar has a psd with a clean gunsight. Save as a 32bit TGA/Targa and replace the file to see it ingame! -
It can't be so hard to understand that Aviodev doesn't actually know when ED will solve the installer issue. Don't bug them for it, it'll be out when it'll be out, simple as that.

Why the next addition should be the Dassault Mirage
LegoHeli replied to Pilum's topic in Heatblur Simulations
The Su-27 'truly' does the cobra, it is not scripted. It is the result of disengaging the angle of attack limiter in the fly by wire system and then making a quick pull back on the stick. It's simply a... large scale stall, for a short while. I'm sure it would be possible to model the Draken similarly, however the Draken does not do it because of disengaged FBW, but rather due to excessive control input - then again, that's what the Su-27 family does as well. -

Can we please not have another endless request thread that clogs the dev forums? It's completely pointless, there are so many of them and it's the same airframes mentioned in all of them for page after page.
-
As an active member of a very realism-oriented Arma unit, I could see the potential in something like this for large units just to add the extra dimension. However, I would have no interest in flying it.

The F-86 needs to be trimmed depending on airspeed and the conditions you're flying in. Make sure you are, in fact, not just forgetting to trim. You should think of the F-86 more as a WWII fighter than as a jet fighter from the late cold war.

Warthog Ministick issues
LegoHeli replied to SolUniverse's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Make sure you are selecting HOTAS THROTTLE in DCS, not HOTAS STICK. They're seperate columns. -
The MiG-21 is in a PFM both in flight model (handling) and systems modelling (avionics and electronics and hydraulics, etc). The MiG-23 has very similar systems to the MiG-21, and that is the reason for the high similarity percentage-wise. In regards to flying charachteristics, the planes are far from the same.

Guys. Listen up. The reason RAZBAM doesn't post a lot here is quite simple: The DCS community is one of the most unforgiving and ungrateful communities towards developers I have ever seen. With the exception of a few, people instantly cry over things "missing" that were never supposed to be part of the pack, people cry over "planes with no adversaries" og "it's all trainers" or whichever other you've seen on the forum. RAZBAM devs came here excited to show you their planned products in DCS, latest of which being posted about was the Mirage 2K. And what happened? A near 100-page cryfest about how it is the wrooooong Mirage, how it is the wrooooooong European fighter, how it is wrooooooong to work on the Mirage when other projects had been talked about earlier. Put yourself in their place. How many times would you have to experience that do do one of the following: -Keep quiet about updates and work silently until you were at least almost done -Pull out of the sim entirely You should be happy RAZBAM has picked the first. Besides the reason they are not showing a single new thing is because they are waiting on real development on their aircraft until EDGE is implemented and in general DCS does not evolve too quickly; making aircraft for a constantly changing engine is extremely hard on the level a big sim-dev like RAZBAM is expected to deliver. Yes, the community has had some letdowns from devs promising too much, but any project you kickstart isn't guarantee to succeed! And now both "failures" are being worked hard on anyway (MiG-21, 1944) by new people! I said it before, and I will say it again: How I wish this forum wouldnt be 80% "But I rather want *insert aircraft/terrain/feature*!!!!" Let devs do their own projects in their own time. They will make MUCH better products working on aircraft they are passionate about than if they are bugged constantly about every single thing they do. /rant

F15 skin request : USN Vf-103 jolly roger
LegoHeli replied to hannibal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I just fly on Virtual Aerobatics and on a private server with a couple of IRL friends, no real air combat as of now. My skins are not used by any server I know of it that's what you're asking. -
F15 skin request : USN Vf-103 jolly roger
LegoHeli replied to hannibal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I won't guarantee anything, but I'll probably do one as well. It's always been my favourite US paint scheme, and I'm already doing a very similar one for Wardog squadron (Ace Combat 5), which is basically this skin with the US roundels and squad logos replaced. I'll find this thread again and pop in when/if it's done! -
This thread will never be the right place to look for real paints from me, just warning you! I have revised the JASDF version with the small changes you pointed out, it will be available as soon as it has been approved.

ISAF Mobius One skins for both the F-15C and F-15 ACTIVE have now been uploaded to the DCS user files section!

There are several ways to get the F/A-18, I can only speak for myself, and I am using the one available here: http://www.virtual-aerobatics.com/download/f-18c-download-including-blue-angels-skin/

Issue with Su-27 addon skins
LegoHeli replied to Flogger23m's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'm the guy who made the Yuke flanker you're using, and I'm not quite sure what might be causing your issue. If you have truly not modified the skin or the .lua at all, I really don't know what is going on. However, there is a slight possibility you have assigned a wrong texture to a wrong line of code, meaning it is looking to use for instance the gear texture for your nozzles (it doesn't seem to be that exact case, but anyway look into it). Feel free to simply copy my .lua and change the name of the Flanker inside it and use the same filenames as I did, test if that works. -
The Galm skins are the only ones that aren't mine, I'm not sure who made them actually! Regarding Su-33 skins. Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Yes, but we are approaching finals time and I don't have time to do them if I also want to fly a little as well. Patience! EDIT: I never did any Mobius skins, I will eventually. I'm having trouble getting good references though, and currently I have no way of hooking my Playstation to anything. I have actually released another skin for Ace Combat in the meantime, have a UH-1H in the colours of the Osean Marine Defense Forces http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/646340/

I agree with what has been stated above and I will give you this advice since you explicitly name dogfighting as your main objective: Have a more arcadey sim for dogfighting purposes as well. Personally I like a bit of War Thunder on simulation level for dogfighting, it's entertaining but more easily approached than DCS. I don't mean that you shouldn't fly DCS, not at all, but if dogfighting is your current desire, I would definitely try something else as well.
