While I did not take the screenshots you are referring to, I can explain to you what is wrong. When you take a screenshot with Windows, by default it captures a .jpg image. JPG images are low quality by default, that's why their filesize is very low. That creates small artifacts around edges of objects and unclearly defined details. For high quality screenshots, I recommend you use something like FRAPS set to capture png images. Notice the difference here (though the difference is less than a real case since the JPG is simply a converted PNG): PNG (via FRAPS) JPG (via the screenshot function in DCS)

No need for proving that, the Mirage2000 is already much further than this - and as soon as you add those small canards, the delta wing testbed would make no sense.
-
Can't people give devs a rest? Let them finish their current projects or let them ask you what aircraft you want to see. This yelling aircraft types left and right takes no one anywhere.
-
No they don't. The Su-33 now (from 1.2.7) has an external model in DCS quality. And the 6DOF cockpit is up for 1.2.8 (according to the preliminary changelog).
-
No template for the Su-33 has been released. That's why we (us that make skins) have not yet released any. I actually haven't tried to see if a Su-27 texture works on the Su-33, but I might test that later today after F1 qualification! But I will guarantee you that I will be making skins from day one of a template release. It is simply too much work to make skins from scratch for DCS.

I tried. And still am trying. I applied for pilot school, talked to my bank and had them say "go", got my medical approval, did my entrance exam to the pilot school and then the back turned around 180 degrees at the last moment, effectively breaking contract with me. So yeah, sue a bank, good luck with that one. I decided that there would be another way to do things since test piloting is really what I am into (more specifically practical R&D of new aerospace technologies and the like), so I applied for college to study aerospace engineering. That's where I am today, changed bank to one that is more positive toward my career goal and am working towards having the necessary engineering degree for test piloting before starting pilot school. DCS, FSX and all the other flying sims I've used are all with "you might be able to use some of this for real" in mind, and knowing quite a few pilots I know that a lot of what you learn here is very useful in real life. Sorta long post. That's why I'm in DCS and not haulin' aircraft IRL. ....and I'm not joining the RDAF because there is a contract and I am not down with defining killboxes and just bombing away at what you know is civilians. I think too much for real combat.

Not everyone flying DCS has a job to pay for a subscription model. I've payed for my modules by living off of pasta for a week every time they come out. Being a student myself there is no way I would or could allocate money every month to pay for DCS, and likewise a lot of people who like playing DCS now more "casually" would rather stop using the simulator than move to paying every month. And you simply cannot demand money from us now that we've payed for the modules infdefinitely. And finally, as the replies before me state, there is not necessarily a correlation between increased income and increased output. Just look at the crap some of the huge publishers spew out despite a vast amount of money available.

It's simply not been released yet. We got a new Su-33 external model, but the 6DOF cockpit isn't "just" the same as the Su-27 pit and has to be derived from that 3D model or done completely from scratch. As with everything else DCS from release of modules to flying to your target: Be patient!

Don't even get me started. I have no interest in discussing this to death and this is not the topic for that.

While I love APA as much as any other F-35 hater, I have to tell you that while it is a likely candidate for PAK FA prototypes (as we already know the cockpit is pretty much the same as the Su-35BM), I don't think you should trust them too much on being what will be used in the real machine. APA are not Sukhoi, they are "just" a bunch of people with a lot of experience with aircraft, and most of their work about non-NATO/allied nations aircraft is based on best estimation where real data is not available. They aren't claiming it's the one for the real machine either, but like with the not-up-to-spec engines currently used, it might be what is used on the initial production run of real PAK FA (whichever Su-designation it might get).

I can assure you that whichever skin might be missing in the official release will be made - and well made - by us skinners. As long as the templates are released, anyway, hahah! I own every DCS module so far that lets you go airborne, and I do not intend to stop at the Mirage. I will at the very least make the two schemes below if they are not in the release:

DCS: MiG-21 Bis Merry christmas everyone, hope you have a good one!

I myself having much more experience being a modder of other games have tried both the free and the pay-for-my-work model. Here's how it all turned out. I've made skins for my own use for FSX, DCS, LOMAC, Race07 and many other games for years. I like it. I have to customize my gaming experience, and I've gotten pretty decent at it over the years. It's always been about me getting stuff in the game I needed that wasn't there in the first place. Of course I used the mods of other people as well since I felt that there was no point in inventing the wheel twice; many skilled people do a lot of work for the various gaming communities around the world too. Then a year and a half ago, I joined a very serious racing club online, and began making skins for people on that site. It was mostly based in Race07 and rFactor, and it was something I did because I wanted to get better at skinning for that particular game. Then the payments started rolling in. Let me underline I never, ever asked for money for my work, nor had it ever been my intent to make money from what I did for the communities online - flight simming is a narrow audience, we have to stick together - but I was now getting paid $20-$40 by the teams I made skins for. They did it simply because, as many others in this thread have stated, if the work is of high quality and the result pleases you, you might want to pay people. Then I started actually charging for it on that site, but with lower prices than the volunteer donations that came in (from all but one team), and now I do make a bunch of extra money from making mods I enjoy making while enjoying seeing my racing club having gone from dreary standard colours to very interesting schemes. It was never about the money, the money just came. And I think a lot of people who begin charging for their stuff just happened to be paid for their stuff without ever asking for it. My DCS skins will remain free, as will future releases.

I did this one for DCS, masters of the necropost! http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/498203/

I've made a couple of missions so far - the first mission from Ace Combat 2, Mayhem from Ace Combat Zero (with your skins), Glacial Skies from Ace Combat Zero, working on a couple from AC5 (but I haven't made the Wardog skins yet, so they will be a while). They're set up so that they can be played in multiplayer as a co-op against the AI, so when I release the pack we can do those radio transmissions ourselves ;) You can even set up Teamspeak to broadcast the music from the mission in repeat, so yea.

Since the A-10 iDOLMASTER is much less complex than the F-15, I'll be doing that next. In fact, I just started out! Unfortunately, I am not sure I can find the excact anime pictures used... We'll see what I can do.
-
The A-10 idolmaster MIGHT be made in the future - I'm not much of a ground strike pilot, so I'm bad at getting A-10s done. Would you prefer it for the C or the A model when I get there? This A-10 IS coming as soon as I figure out how to do the lightnings properly.
-
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/498270/ Already have ;) No, I won't be doing Galm 1 and 2 since they're already available and in proper quality! I will do all of the stuff I like, really, it just takes time...university and all
-
I'll do the entire Yellow Sq. with proper numbers, BUT - I really want to wait until the Su-33 gets its model update, as we know the model is almost finished by now :p I might do just 13 for the Su-27 though... Currently I'm working on some Ace Combat missions based on the currently ready skins!

Basically all of the schemes in those links are already made for DCS - no point in redoing them! http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/369738/ http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/209/ http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/340520/ And I'm more for colourful aircraft, of authentic schemes you will rather be seeing something along the lines of these F-15 from me:

Hi there! I just wanted to give those of you who don't browse the user files at all times a heads up about my Ace Combat skins that I've made (and are making more of) for DCS FC3! (I will be adding some for the other modules too, but not for now). Here are a couple of pictures. Search for my username in the user files for download! Much more to come! It has come to my attention that the pilot in the Su-27 uses a skin by Home Fries, so credit for everything but the logos and flags related to Ace Combat goes to him. I didn't realize this and revision of all files to include it will take far too long.

Skin Request: Who can paint those F-15C beauties?

I'm not saying it isn't. I just made it according to the pictures provided, what do you expect? -
