  1. Rudel_chw's post in Trigger action "X: COCKPIT PARAM SAVE AS" does not save was marked as the answer
Correct, it's purpose is to save a parameter at a certain point in time, and then use it on parameter comparisons later on.

You need a LUA script, that will take the current heading and save it on a flag value ... I'm sure someone versed in Lua will provide the answer, for now it is out of my realm 🙂

  2. Rudel_chw's post in DCS Open Beta Crashing & rebooting was marked as the answer
    try the following:
    Rename the folder D:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\ to D:\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta.bak
Does DCS run now? It may have asked your user and password, but if it runs then the problem is caused by something on your saved games folder. If it does not run, then the problem is either hardware or your dcs program folder is corrupt, which can be fixed by a dcs repair.
  3. Rudel_chw's post in kneeboards was marked as the answer
Ok, now the scope of your question is more clear to me .. let me try to explain this in more detail. There used to be a time when, to customize any aspect of DCS you had to either add your own custom files onto the DCS program folder, or modify the files already there ... say, you wanted a custom skin for a Leopard tank, you had to replace the zip file that contained that skin, on the DCS program folder; you wanted an english cockpit for Blackshark, you had to replace the original files with the russian cockpit textures, again, on the DCS program folder.
All these were called "mods", short for "game modification", were you truly were changing the original game files.
Starting around DCS 1.5, Eqgle Dynamics recognized the need to allow a degree of user customization, and then they introduced the concept of mimicking part of the DCS program folder structure, on a safe location .. /Saved games/DCS World/   This allows you to create for example a skin for the Leopard II tank, and place that skin at /Saved Games/DCS World/Liveries/leopard-2/  ... when DCS runs it adds the /Saved Games/ liveries to its own, allowing the user to select whichever skin he wants.... to me this is not strictly a "Mod", as you are no longer modifying game program files, but placing your own on a separate location from DCS ... the skin is now a DCS customization, but without touching the DCS program files.
Same as with the liveries, DCS allows you to place other customizations at /Saved Games/ ... for example, Kneeboard files, Templates, and even whole user-created Modules like the UH-60L helicopter. Again, to me the UH-60L is not a "Mod", but a custom aircraft

... however, it is entirely possible that a badly designed custom aircraft can impact on the standard ED Modules, for example by attempting to re-define weapons effects .. the same weapons are shared amongst every Module, so a change made in one module may conflict with the same weapon in another. That's why it is always suggested to disable those User-created Modules when you ar facing a DCS crash, to remove a potential cause and easing the debug process.

No, I don't think so .. the items that cause trouble usually are programming items, like Lua scripts or DLL softwares.

OK, I have Combined Arms active but not using it at the moment, so I removed it from my DCS (with the Module Manager) and honestly I don't feel any difference in loading times or responsivenes .. so, most likely your issue was caused by something other than CA.

My personal belief is that a kneeboard producing such effects would be something very unlikely, and it certainly has not happened to me in the many years that I have been flying DCS, and I use Kneeboards a lot, as they are an invaluable tool when one is learning a new aircraft.
  4. Rudel_chw's post in Latest update and Eset was marked as the answer
I exclude the dcs paths from the antivirus action, it avoids this type of issue from ever happening. Once you do the exclusion, perform a dcs_updater repair to recover the files deleted by the AV.
  5. Rudel_chw's post in DCS does not start, black screen was marked as the answer
It looks normal to me .. several folders are created as needed .. for example if you press, when in DCS, the Print screen key, you will generate a screen caprure and then the "ScreenShots" folder will be created by DCS ... if you export the key bindings of a Module to HTML format, the "InputLayoutsTxt" folder will be created, and so on.

  7. Rudel_chw's post in Kneeboards was marked as the answer
I don't have such a list, but you can check if a Module has a default Kneeboard by inspecting on /Program files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Mods/aircraft/<aircraft-ID>/Cockpit/Scripts/KNEEBOARD/   ... if it exists, then that aircraft has a default KB, for example:

Some aircrafts have dynamic kneeboards, those have LUA files instead of image files on their kneeboard folder.
The Maps that have kneeboards are Caucasus, Nevada, South Atlantic and Marianas. The others do not have one by default.

  10. Rudel_chw's post in Uninstalled by accident. was marked as the answer
Yes, they are stored separately from the game itself, so they are not lost when you uninstall DCS.
  11. Rudel_chw's post in Copiar, pegar, guardar mapeados de HOTAS y teclado was marked as the answer
    Hola,

  12. Rudel_chw's post in Changing SSD: Reinstall needed ??? was marked as the answer
Copy/paste is OK, no need to install reinstall. If the drive letters or install path change, then you will need to update your windows shortcut.
If you use the Steam DCS then move the game using the Steam Settings ... remember to create a Steam Library on the new drive first.

  15. Rudel_chw's post in Possible to use Miles when purchasing the AH-64 ? was marked as the answer
No, if you use miles for a purchase, then its items won't generate any new miles. For that reasom it is best to use miles on just a single item at a time. Let's say, if you want to purchase two aircrafts at the same time, make the buy over two purchases and use your miles on one of them, that way the other purchase will accrue miles.

  16. Rudel_chw's post in Why is there no entry for the A-10C II under "MISSION"? was marked as the answer
Because there are no missions, but there is nothing stopping you from creating the folder, the default path is:
    C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C_2\Missions\Single
(adjust if you installed DCS somewhere else), after you place some missions there, it will look like this on DCS:

I'd rather have my custom missions separate from the default ones, but I realize that it's a matter of personal preference:

  17. Rudel_chw's post in Game Crash on Loading a mission was marked as the answer
You are in a low memory situation, the log is full of errors like this:

"ERROR   EDCORE: Not enough memory to decmpress: "

Try increasing the Paging file size, currently its size is only 3 GB, increase it to at least 12198 MB  ... on my spanish windows it is increased here:

  18. Rudel_chw's post in Which controls item to bind a button to open/close the refueling door? was marked as the answer
Unfortunately, it seems to not have a binding assigned to it, the door lever's name is "Aerial Refueling Slipway Control Lever" as it is described on clickabledata.lua, but it does not have a binding  😞

  19. Rudel_chw's post in Uh-1h Argument number for the Start Switch Needed? was marked as the answer
There is no entry on the clickable.lua because the Engine Start button is not clickable, as it cant be seen since it is in the downward face of the Collective. You can only actuate it by means of a keyboard binding.
However, you can detect the use of this key, using the X:START LISTEN COMMAND trigger action, like this:

If the user presses the Home key (Device 3, Command 3018) once, the flag is set to true, the next trigger checks this flags and performs an action (on my example it displays a message).
Keep in mind that this only detects a press of the key, it can't check if the user does in fact keep it pressed until the engine starts.
  20. Rudel_chw's post in Game freezing/crashing after around 5 mins of flight was marked as the answer
Your graphics card is causing the crashes, maybe it is faulty or windows is disconnecting it for some reason:

ERROR   DX11BACKEND: failed to create structed buffer. Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

You may want to try these actions suggested by @Flappie:

  21. Rudel_chw's post in Game crash after month and month... Help was marked as the answer
Your logs point to this error:

"ERROR   DX11BACKEND: DX device removed. Reason: 0x887A0006"

I can't really know what hardware device is producing this error, but you could try the action that @Flappie suggest here:

  22. Rudel_chw's post in How can I install theater textures in the folder "saved games"????? was marked as the answer
well, there used to be a time when every modding you wanted to do, was replacing or editing files on the DCS program folder .. /saved games/dcs/ was used only to store the user configuration, keybinds, screenshots and tracks.
Starting with DCS 1.5 appeared the ability to have a /saved games/dcs/mods/ folder, to allow the user to add Mod aircrafts, ships, objects and vehicles, without interfering with the official Modules. But this functionality does not extend to custom terrains.
  23. Rudel_chw's post in Mission Editor Malfunction was marked as the answer
Try this: rename the folder C:\Users\User\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\MissionEditor\
    to C:\Users\User\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\MissionEditor.bak\
With this, DCS will recreate a default mission editor settings folder.
  24. Rudel_chw's post in No pop up window from which to select sound file was marked as the answer
    I’d try renaming the folder /saved games/dcs.openbeta/MissionEditor/ to /MissionEditor.bak/
then when you run dcs and the editor, it will start with fresh defaults.
