[OLD BUG REPORTS] Cleaning and Organization of old posts
Extranajero replied to RAZBAM_ELMO's topic in Resolved Bugs
You wouldn't happen to know how wide the side consoles are in the cockpit would you Jowen ? -
So we are in a state of change with our Mirage then ? excellent :)
-
The radar control panel behind the throttle. I'm wondering what might have any sort of tactical use that I don't know about - track history ( I think it's called ) and PRF etc
-
What is currently working on the radar, what isn't and what has never worked ;) ? Or to put it another way, if I was making a physical switch panel just for the radar what should I include ?
-
That would solve everything, but using dot labels is bad because actually being able to see your opponent isn't realistic ( sarcasm )
-
Seeing as I can't see squat in terms of other aircraft when in an MP server that doesn't allow labels - is Jester giving me the correct information when he's spotting a bandit for me, or am I misinterpreting what he's saying somehow ? Very rarely is the bandit anywhere near where I'd expect it to be from his calls, unless it's dead in front or on my 6...maybe it's because by the time I've figured out if it's a microscopic speck of dust or an aircraft it's moved ?

Carrier - getting out of your parking spot

Is there a mission editor trick to get him to sweep his wings ? -
I haven't seen the movie, maybe it's worth watching for the Mirage 2000 ?
-
Sent to me last night by a friend - the English version of Les Chevaliers du Ciel, called The Aeronauts. Apparently this was on the TV when I was a kid, but I don't remember watching it - I would have loved it.... Obviously there is no Mirage 2000 ;) but there is a lot of footage of the beautiful Mirage III, the simulator and in later episodes we see the 'new' R530 missile and all kinds of interesting things. I can't make the YouTube preview function work, but this is the link.

I've got a copy of it ;) I know what to do, I'm just having trouble doing it in the Tomcat without departing.
-
It's absolutely bloody marvellous - not quite finished yet, but very flyable right now.
-
Cheers for the advice John :)
-
Clean 'em up - Green 'em up - Turn on your music ;)
-
What'll he have to complain about now ? it's like when Wile E Coyote finally caught the Roadrunner :D
-
I'd throw jester out if it would help :D
-
So something ED did in the update fixed it then ? correct Jojo ? He will be happy :)
-
What sort of specs should I be looking for in a 3D printer ? It would be for my own use to make flight hardware and the use of my girlfriend who is a jewellery maker\designer How about software ? I was quite OK with Solidworks a few years ago and like the parametric way of doing things in 3D

If you repeat Jesters radio instructions - when selecting a channel at least - the second time he gets it right. I do miss his expectant little face staring back at me from the centre of the menu though. Like a puppy dog eager to please his human :D :D :D
-
Brilliant :) now I've got something to work on :)
-
I've spent most of my time with the F-14 so far trying to learn how to land it on a carrier, with a few breaks to shoot long range missiles at AI in multiplayer, all of which missed. Now I'm exploring dogfighting, using guns VS AI Skyhawk Or rather I'm going - turn, turn, turn, wings rock violently, depart, crash - with a few variations where the Skyhawk shot me down and a victorious end to one encounter where the Skyhawk ran out of fuel and crashed. So, he's still dead isn't he ? :D So what's a good gameplan for dogfighting dissimilar aircraft using this beast ? it handles like a rocket propelled dinosaur with a belly full of concrete and trying to turn obviously isn't the best strategy...

Carrier - getting out of your parking spot
Extranajero replied to Extranajero's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
OK, further experimentation has resulted in this :- Jester, when first asked to tune Ch3 on the radio, tunes Ch2 The second time you ask him he gives you Ch3 ( ATC ) I tell ATC I'm cancelling my takeoff and then my wingman moves to the left front cat, out of my way. I request takeoff again, swing round to take up position for my own cat shot and keep getting " hold position " then " continue taxi " in a loop from ATC. I finally ignore ATC and move to the right side cat, where I can see around the jet blast deflector for the left side cat - the one my wingman took off from. ATC's confusion becomes clear because my wingman is stuck on the bow of the ship, still hooked to the cat which has completed it's shot, afterburners blazing away but going nowhere :D Do I just give up trying to fly this mission or what ? :D -

Nope, ATC won't talk to me until I try to maneuver round the F-14 at my side and tear it's wing off. -
Carrier - getting out of your parking spot
Extranajero replied to Extranajero's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The first thing I tried was requesting takeoff and eventually got bored of waiting - twice I'll try it again, see what happens. -
How do I move from my parking spot to the catapult when I'm blocked by a plane at the side of me as in several of the provided missions ? There's no way to go forward without ripping his wing off. If I was in my car I'd just let the guys tyres down, go for a walk and return when the tow truck had been, but I'm in a Tomcat and besides - he's my wingman and we have pilot shit to do.
-
If you read accounts from US Vietnam war pilots - who were flying jets that had systems of a very similar generation to the Tomcat - one thing that comes up time after time is that they didn't always realise how badly damaged their aircraft was until several minutes had passed after a missile hit. But because they weren't playing a game their reaction wasn't to try to kill the platform that had fired on them, but rather to evaluate the damage and come up with a plan for getting home, or to a safe ejection area. Until there is some sort of penalty associated with death or ejection over enemy territory in multiplayer ( what that might be, or even if it would be a good idea is another matter entirely ) you'll see virtual pilots focussed on killing their enemies rather than surviving.
