+1 I think we've got quite enough of those to be going on with for a while...
-
It turned quite well for planes of that era and generally handled without any of the serious vices which other supersonic jets of the time suffered from. Like someone else pointed out, in export F.53 form it could fulfill a basic ground attack role too. Probably it doesn't feature on a lot of DCS users wishlists because unlike the Tom Clancy techno-thriller birds, they'd actually have to fly it - rather than navigating through several pages of menus and sub menus on an MFD before mashing the weapon release button for a fire and forget solution :smilewink:
-
It doesn't. Serve you correctly I mean.
-
I have so little interest in prop aircraft I forgot about the WW2 planes completely :D
-
We need the Lightning - or better still the Jag or the Bucc, there isn't a single RAF aircraft in DCS at the moment. You'd think that the RAF deserved a bit more attention really, but I expect that the trend for Tom Clancy planes with MFD's, FBW and targeting pods is going to continue. I mean who wants to learn how to deliver a low level pop up attack with only a depressed gunsight or CCIP when they can just punch a few buttons and spam a JSOW from 70nm ?
-
I saw your signature pic and misread 29 as 23 :)
-
Yes they do. I used to buy, sell and repair military night vision devices. Variable gain isn't a common feature, but it does exist. Read your second post now. Seems like you are familiar with NVG's too.
-
From what US pilots have written I imagine the MiG-23 is very like the old Ford Mustang I had - hellish fast in a straight line but if you try to make it turn then it will get annoyed and try to kill you :D
-
I've decided to make my panels modular as well. Different system though, inspired by the fact that I used to be a gunsmith. I'll put some pictures up on a new thread when they have printed.

Did you know there is a keybind to adjust your eye position ? it does the same thing as raising the seat :)

I do have numbers from 0 to 65535 in the console. I took a look at the Viggens clickable.lua - now bear in mind that I really don't know much about coding at all, except for a basic understanding of C from years ago - but one thing I have noticed is that all the rotaries I am having this problem with are called default_axis_limited rather than default_axis and are used with slightly different arguments. I don't know if that might be a part of the issue ? I can work around this - I've already got the Radar brightness and the Hud brightness working, but that's by binding them to the keyboard and then using a joystick axis and JoyToKey - which is a bit of a mess, I don't want to do that unless I have to
-
Now you mention it that's what it seems like, but the only mapping I've got for those rotaries is the default keyboard bindings. I'll remove them and check again. Edit, nope, still not working right. If I turn it down with the mouse I can turn it back up with the pot, but it's very sensitive, uses only a fraction of the travel. And it'll only go one way - up. I think I need to reduce the range of values that is being sent and make them negative as well as positive. How I do that I don't know though.
-
I'm trying to set up the lighting controls for the Viggen but I've run into an issue I can't solve. The three cockpit light rotary controls work fine when I have them connected to potentiometers via DCS-BIOS. The radar brightness and Hud brightness aren't working though. If I watch the in game radar brightness rotary it tries to turn with the potentiometer, but then snaps right back to the default position. Hud brightness rotary doesn't move at all. The rotaries work fine with the mouse and also with the keyboard, just not DCS-BIOS. What's going on ? anyone know ?
-
That is really coming along now, excellent progress
-
Yep, started the design for that already, it'll be half Viggen half Mirage, like the stick
-
Cheers ! modelling organic shapes and compound curves is pretty awkward in Solidworks compared to other packages. I did think of using 3DS Max but it's maybe 10 years since I last had a go with it and I have forgotten how to do even simple tasks...
-
Thanks :) I have come to a very similar conclusion on the lettering :) I'm going to try printing in white though, painting, and then removing the paint from the letters - I'll see if that allows illumination. I expect it will, whether it looks right though is another thing entirely ;)
-
See my thread on this sub forum about the 3D printed joystick to see my first major project... How are you getting along with printing indented text on your panels ? I just can't get mine quite good enough to be happy with it
-
I've got an X-52 that broke and started all these shenanigans, I'll fit it to that

-
I bought the M2000C in 2017 and I have never once regretted spending my money on it. It's the aircraft I have flown the most out of every module I own.
-
That is so bloody impressive :) I ended up going down the 3D printing rabbit hole shortly after I asked your advice on printer choice...it's all your fault
-
Phantom mission wingmans just flying stupidly...
Extranajero replied to cronustr75's topic in M-2000
Can you tell me a bit more about how that works ? is it enabled by default ? -
You'll need an AC Tig and pure Argon if you want to weld aluminium - plus a fair amount of practice. It's a rabbit hole you probably don't want to enter right at this moment ;)
-
Brilliant, thank you :)
