  1. You can cast metal inside a printed plastic mould ? Or do you mean masters and cores ?
  2. So nothing much exciting happened then ?
  3. Incredible work, how did you engrave the letters ?
  4. I have one beef with FacetrackNoIr and that is the amount of CPU cycles it uses to re-acquire the users face if it loses track. But then I had a very low spec PC when I tested it...
  5. No, you can have switches, it doesn't have to be a pushbutton. You would write the sketch so that the Arduino sends a command to do whatever you want ( toggle lights as an example ) when it changes position. But before entering the cockpit in DCS you will have to make sure that the switches correspond to where they normally are. Like the landing gear, if you start on the ground then it should be down, in the air up of course. If not the switches will still work, but backwards. I hope you can understand all that and I haven't confused you :D What you are planning to do isn't too difficult, I am not a programmer but I managed it - and if I can do it, anyone can :smilewink:
  6. Would you sell a grip with switches, but without electronics ? If so what is the thread size and pitch of the Warthog connector ?
  7. Arduino as a HID is a really quick way to get what you are looking for.
  8. Well I would assign your buttons on your panel to combat functions. You only need your engine switches ( etc ) once, why not assign your inputs to something which will help you ?
  9. You might want to think about binding some other functions to the panel - ones you might actually use to fight ? Stuff like the radar modes and weapons ? If you don't already have them mapped to a joystick of course...
  10. Is there an 80's Cold War mod ? I see that the Russian ( Soviet ) equipment goes back that far but there isn't much NATO armor available.
  11. 5 grand and you don't even get real instruments ?
  12. Yeah I saw that a while back Jimbo. I honestly just don't have the room right now to do it...although I think I have everything needed except the dye. VMFA-Blaze - I'm not sure how I can help with this - did you mean to post somewhere else ? Good luck anyway mate, I hope you get everything working properly
  13. I might just paint a Grach on the back of my bike helmet ( to clarify, I don't wear it when 'flying' - unless I fall off that is :D )
  14. Finished the base, back to the grip now. I am going to modify it to take an adjustable palm rest as per Sokols suggestion...
  15. I'd like one to be honest. Not to wear, but just to have on display. Funnily enough my motorbike helmet is one of the fighter pilot styles ( although I actually bought it because it was the only open face type in the shop that fitted me ) - I am tempted to paint it up as a Soviet helmet with a red star, but I don't fancy spending all my time explaining to people that I'm not a communist, I just like cold war combat aircraft...
  16. Landing the MiG-15 at Groom Lake eh? - bit of a Have Doughnut\Constant Peg moment then :D
  17. No pictures showing LynxDK...
  18. That looks a lot like an Apollo command module rotation controller. Very, very cool.
  19. Well, I am utterly mystified. I now have 30 fps from DCS World under every circumstance, as smooth as hell with adaptive sync at half. If I change the adaptive sync to the same frequency as the monitor, it varies from between 45 to being capped at 60, depending on my height AGL and if I have the TV on or not. It isn't as smooth, but I'm not complaining. I have NO idea how I ended up making this happen, I have just been messing around with various settings in the game options and the NVIDIA control panel. Maybe it's because I set most of the video card options to " application controlled " after reading something about that ?
  20. Well, the shadows turned to low made a big difference. Maybe not enough of one once there are explosions and stuff happening - I'll search out a guide to FPS performance and get tweaking. I didn't realise that DCS World came with a free Mustang trainer as well, nice one ED :D
  21. I really shouldn't stray from the home cockpit section of the forum, every time I do I prove that I am an idiot... :D Just ran DCS again, checked the options and shadows default to high. I may be an idiot but even I know that shadows kill frame rates... I'll check out any improvement later...
  22. I didn't know that...but it wouldn't have changed anything for me really because the motherboard and CPU were a gift from a mate. I couldn't afford the upgrade otherwise. I hope DCS 2.0 will run better on my system...maybe I'll be in luck for once :D
  23. Spec of my previous PC :- Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.3mhz Geforce 9500 Spec of my new PC :- AMD quad core, not sure of clock speed - 3 point something mhz ? Geforce GT740 I haven't tweaked DCS or Flaming Cliffs graphics settings, they are at the default. I'd like to stress again that this isn't a moan. DCS is what it is - I'm just glad someone is making realistic flight sims at all.
  24. I have just upgraded my PC and finally downloaded DCS World. Oh boy, it's not exactly frame rate friendly for users of older computers is it ? :( Since I went from my old motherboard to the new one, plus a new video card Flaming Cliffs 2 has gone from 25 fps to about 60 fps. DCS World ( which I didn't even attempt to run before ) is about 20 fps. This isn't a complaint, more of an observation ;)
  25. You can do it quite easily then - one Arduino ( or clone ) and a few toggle switches.
