Question About Launch Permission Overide
Jimbolya replied to Jimbolya's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yea just double checked the manual - there's nothing about launcher parameters - Experienced Su-25T riders from Free version might be able to help sort this out. -
Question About Launch Permission Overide

Yea - no worries =) All the manual says is put the small pip into the big pip *cough* and you're good to go. It's definitely not the launch button because iron bombs and rockets work just fine. -

I also just did a quick word search for "master" throught flight manual that comes with the Free DCS download and it's not in there either... -
Question About Launch Permission Overide

Hmm - I'm looking at this link here since the key bindings are really similar and I'm not seeing a 'Master Arm' key. http://www.checksix-fr.com/downloads/lockon/FC2/Docs/LOCKON_FC2_Keycommands_Su-25_EN.pdf -
Question About Launch Permission Overide
Jimbolya replied to Jimbolya's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Absolutely I did no such thing!! Ha - that would be atrocious!! Now I'm on the hunt for that key - so many kills could have been made! Does that only affect the Vikhr for the Su-25T or are other guided weapons affected by master arm. Wow ~ such a rookie over sight - good thing I've been out of sims for so long... I can use that title - for now - -
So I've been having troubles with the Vikhr not launching lately - Here's my procedure: 1. Turn on TV 2. Slew over target 3. Lock target 4. Turn on laser 5. Navigate laser pip into larger circular pip This process, although it seems correct never allows me to fire the weapon even though I can clearly see the target in the TV (Note: this happens all ranges, alt, and AoA). I was considering using the weapon override button which I haven't tried yet. Will that button allow me to launch the missile and will it still go to the locked target?

I like the track they are going down with the time periods and what not. A Nam era theater with all the historical stuff would be cool - especially with the expansion into multi-seat co-op - dual seater cobra on CAS or dual seater phatom from Yankee Air Station That would be pretty cool -
-
Oh - and the ability to multiplay the quick misions lol - don't know if that's available right now, but that would be cool too.
-
So I only have Free DCS World so I don't know what changes when you buy a module, but the quick missions are pretty cool. I remember the old Jane's Apache sim used a quick mission type system from time to time and you had more options. Right now it seems like the quick mission is always CAS and what not, and the way points are pretty out and back. The quick missions would be cooler if they had more options to flesh them out add your own way points etc.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but if you want to do naval ops and what not check out the following and simply cut and paste what they have: Harpoon Global Conflict Blue 2 Command Modern Air / Naval Operations

Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread

Adding to thread to bump the count up one more notch - -
Agreed - a human wingman would be good for sure. I thought about using the editor, but I like the randomness of the locations in the quick mission. Forces me to learn to spot the hard way. I have been able to use the TV to recon the ingress zone and spot a tank platoon. I got real anxious and rolled in on them - that was my first mistake lol. I need to learn to set the flare to salvo fire as well - I do remember I did have that set in my F18 when I flew the Jane's sim.
-
Also regarding the Immelmann turn - wouldn't that bleed off a lot of energy quickly?
-
Well hopefully I can get online with you guys this weekend - I'm in EST time zone. Saturday or Sunday would probably work for a couple hours of flight time. I think I need to really tone down the difficulty of the quick missions to not have SAM / AAA at all right now. I'm having hard enough time spotting things without labels on, but the quick missions are great for practicing cold start / ingress (search) / attack / egress...repeat. Then begin to add in SAM / AAA after I've gotten good at deploying various types of dumb / laser / TV weapons. I'm still having a hard time getting Laser and TV weapons to fire. I put the little circle in the big circle, got the solid LA for launch but the weapon doesn't release...and you can clearly see the tank in the cockpit TV lol. I have made progress though in setting trim to a good axis point, and moving the TV slew buttons to buttons that are more meaningful. So progress is being made. Good to know I'm not alone with the whole IR SAM thing lol =). Thanks!
-
Yea - this is going to take a bit of training for me... The hardest part is spotting from higher up - The random generated quick missions typically don't seem to have radar guided SAMS, so it's all IR; so, I can stay at altitude and out of range. I don't want to turn labels on - I feel that's a bit too much of a cheat...I'd rather learn the hard way and get it right from the get go. I have programmed my PS3 controller with a chaff / flare button, but I don't salvo them; and, I haven't been using them in any sort of proactive mode. I will start doing that. I will also have to learn to be more patient. I miss my ground radar from Jane's F18 sim from way back.

Yea - understandably so - To catch up on some aviation history I watched a few documentaries regarding the Russian air force in Afghanistan. I can see why the pilot morale was so low. Russian Air Force - lets use short range weapons - Like rockets...Their great! Jihadist - Hey that's great! Let me introduce you to my American made Stinger! Lol ~
-
So I've had the sim now for about 3 days and I'm still working on some control / keyboard issues (i.e. getting into comfortable configs). Anyways, what I've found so far for training flights is to create a quick mission (CAS) with low AAA and low SAM. I'm flying as Russian and not Georgian. The US side seems to roll with mostly Humvee SAMS, Linebackers, and Vulcans. I'm flying these missions solo, and have been shot down every flight lol. The Vulcans I'm not too worried about, but the Stingers get me every time. I'm learning that I need to stay above 3000ft, but I'm wondering if there's any good videos out there with regards to higher altitude spotting techniques - I'm finding it hard to spot the targets on the ground at that altitude, and / or videos of going up against these air defense systems. Obviously my RWR doesn't pick those up. Any good links would be cool - Cheers ~

I'm going to test setting the trim keys to the second stick on the controller and see how that works out. I know some folks like game controllers so once I get this all set up and working I'll post something up to tell folks how I did it.

Well - I did find a tutorial and found that as far as the laser guided stuff goes the big circle needs to go over the little circle to align the laser, but as far as the air to air stuff and the loss of CCIP I haven't found anything yet.
-
Not to minimize anyone's arguments, but I've been in the poor house for the past 5 years while I raised my kids alone as a single and went back to school. I'm in CyberSec now so I'm pretty geek and proud of it, and from what I see from development standpoint is that ED, DCS, and Third Parties have had this thing hanging on for quite sometime in a market that caters to the "dumb" down players. I'm tickled pink to death that I was just recently able to afford a new rig that can actually play this sim, and to know that it's becoming the closest thing to Jane's Fighters Anthology is just awsome! Keep it going! I hope they actually do a Nam era landscape so we can bring Yankee Air Station back online lol.

I'm posting this here because I'm not sure if it's a software / bug issue just yet. I'll list out the items I noticed last night during my flights: 1. CCIP no longer functions after using CCRP (I could have that second acronym wrong). I attempted to use non-CCIP bombing just to try it out, and now I can't get back to CCIP when using dumb bombs. 2. Laser guided munitions won't fire. I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong here. The laser locks up and I do see the LR in the HUD under TV. However, no matter what angle, speed, or alt the missiles won't fire. I've even attempted to hold down the fire button, but still no response. Same with TV guided weapons. 3. AtA missiles won't fire. I watched the tutorial and hear all the same tones and I am in AtA mode, but the missile won't fire. Same situation as above in #2...regardless of speed, alt, and AoA. Cheers ~

Well - I fixed the issue. It was the selection of Power vs. Throttle. The buttons were set to use Throttle. Switched the buttons over to use Power and I now have granular control even without a slider. Now it's just a matter of getting use to response times and what not. Thanks for the help all. I'm sure in the future I'll be getting a proper rig for the sims.
-
However, now that I think about it - when I tap the left front button I get +10% increase in engine RPM. What I'm looking to do is hold the button down and get +1% increments until I release the button. Is that something that can be set up in the option's section for controls?
-
All - thanks for the input. I used the keyboard and it jumped by 10% as well - idle is set at about 50%. I'm thinking it's the game pad as well - it doesn't have a slider...something I didn't consider when I purchased the rig. As far as sims go - super interested. I used to do a ton of info docs for F18 and worked with the mod group Team Super Hornet years ago. I'll check into the control set up as well. I might have to slave the throttle to the other stick on the pad (no pun intended lol).
-
So I just got DCS world the other night and started playing. I'm using a game pad right now that's basically built just like the sony playstation game pad. I've done the freeflight with the Su-25 and used the buttons for throttle, and then set up my game pad for throttle. I know that there's the RPM gauge in the cockpit, but both the keybinding and the gamepad when used increase RPM by about 10% per click. I'm wondering if it's supposed to be like that - I remember the old Jane's F18 and Apache sims had very granular power - is this no longer the case?
