  1. Yes - D variant pls... mast mounted radar is huge help lol
  2. I checked out graphsims f-18 - doesn't look like its compatible with win7.
  3. Wow - where did you get the software from?? I'd love to play that sim again.

Ha - good to see I'm not the only one that remembers this classic. To me DCS world is a solid foundation. The challenge: all the work to make it real. I think ED is on the right path with third parties. I really don't care who makes the air craft to be honest, just that the work gets done. The business contracts behind the scenes really don't interest me that much lol - as they shouldn't =). If you guys do find a good link for FA send me a PM - I'd make it a weekend to install and run it. Might be good for some of us to get back to the roots of flight sims every now and then...

I'd probably try to find it and run it on my machine just for old times sake lol. The variety was killer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane's_Fighters_Anthology But in a modernized version via DCS World. *** probably gonna get a pie in the face for this one lol ***
  7. rgr that - i believe if you generate a quick mission there's only 2 or 3 waypoints total and the target waypoint is usually 30km out.
  8. so basically after reading these posts - take DCS and Harpoon and mash them together lol. Be able to direct ships with DCS:CA but then fly an F18 op off a deck if you wish to do that as well =).
  9. conversely if the yellow arrow was too the left you would bank left 90 degree (318-90 = 228) until the yellow is between the white then bank back right to bearing 318 and now your on course?
  10. That would be cool - but can we please start making maps that address the era lol. The threats were different then. I'm not sure i'd want to use Nam era cobra against some of the stuff in DCS right now lol. However - it is very similar in a way to the black shark =).
  11. I just remember the days of Jane's Fighters Anthology. I know that shows my age, but for what it was the platform itself was very innovative. Just never really made it into higher res grpahics or flight models. From a development standpoint the third parties are already on the way to making DCS World very capable of doing that imho. You simply limit objects. Multi-player could then post servers via time periods / date, and those getting into the server would know what equipment they would be facing.
  12. when you do the left bank because you're too far to the right does the yellow line start to move up (clockwise) until straight vertical...meaning you are now in line with the way point...bank right to get correct bearing again?
  13. that's crystal clear =) i'll practice using that - yup... i was talking about the ADI lines lol. i've watched a training video with regards to the HSI but couldn't understand what they were trying to teach...this is much better - thanks
  14. I tried that - I don't really know how to use the HSI. If i'm not mistaken the way the vertical yellow line leans is your stearing direction and the horizontal yellow line indicates weather your above, below, or on altitude for ENR to the waypoint. If this is the case then I can try using HSI, but my experience has been that this is also broken. If i put the plane in route following autopilot it gets the yellows to line up; but, most of the time it also wants to nose dive me into the ground. I think the waypoints have been set, but no detailed altitude has been programmed into the missions waypoints. But - i could be wrong.
  15. thanks viper - right now the game is pretty unplayable if i don't know where i'm going =). i mean i can use F10, but that feels like cheating and i dont really know how to read the knee board - super dependant on ADI lol.
  16. I'd like to see where the maps reflect a time period more than variety of maps... Example: if you do a vietnam map are you doing current day or the US conflict in 60-70's? Personally I'd rather see a move towards the old Jane's Fighters Anthology where you could fly in eras vs. just more maps / planes.
  17. ok - i'm assuming this is a dead issue... will just learn to make due :pilotfly:
  18. Just wondering if anyone has looked at the traks?
  19. Viper I have the same issue in the 25T. It only happens for a short moment so I really just ignore it. I guess you could turn off the audible warning, but for me, the duration is so short I just ignore it.
  20. Auto Pilot Engaged So I ran a mission with the autopilot engaged and I do believe that it lead me to the target area. But here's the .trk file for that as well. The ADI state remained the same even with autopilot engaged. ADI_NOWORK_AUTOPILOT_ON.trk
  21. Here's the .trk files Ok - so I loaded up a quick mission, and replicated the problem. I'm in ENR mode, and waypoint 2 is selected. You can tell by the range to the way point that at some point I do start heading to the waypoint, but the ADI does not reflect this. I'm not sure if auto pilot is affected as well. I will try to see if I can get an easy autopilot test up today as well. Cheers ~ ADI_PIP_NOT_WORKING.trk
  22. huh - i didn't know it had such a range as well... LLTV helps as well since the vehicles stand out as white object against the land...
  23. i'm no one to really talk about with regards to skills but i use the LLTV to spot stuff while staying above aroun 4000ft. i don't typically go below that hard altitude. i don't have track-ir or any other easy way to view around in the world...just my two cents...
