https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/bonus_rules/ 4. Bonuses can be used to pay any DCS product that is participating in the bonus system, other than products that are subject to promotions, discounts and other special purchase program, including during sales. 3rd party partner products may choose to participate in the bonus program at their own discretion. 5. Bonuses cannot be used to pay for products marked as “NEW”. When I ordered the F-14 from DCS store, I did not get any bonus for it so the F-14, as it seems, is not part of the bonus program.

Intel's newest bug called "Spoiler".
Jumbik replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This vulnerability is not fixable via software updates. It will need a new HW revision and it will reduce performance. Basically you have to buy a new CPU in order to mitigate the possibility of someone to exploit it on your PC. -
Ultrawide Monitor question / suggestion

I have the very same processor and have no problem. Once you get to the 1440p pool, you are mostly limited by GPU. -
Ultrawide Monitor question / suggestion
Jumbik replied to Pegazus's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can check what Freesync and Gsync means here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/variable_refresh.htm Basically it's changing the monitor refresh rate to match your fps to eliminate tearing. Freesync is now supported also by Nvidia. Just note that Gsync compatible is Nvidia's way how to refer to Freesync monitors and its not the same thing as full fledged Gsync which requires a HW module in the monitor. Generally Gsync monitors are much pricey than Freesync ones, but you have a sort of quality control involved there too as the manufacturer must guarantee panel specification due to the HW module inside. With Freesync you have to check on the monitor reviews first to prevent nasty surprises with panel quality. As for Ultra wide monitors, they are fine for DCS. You should aim for 3440x1440 resolution with your graphic card. Ghosting, well you should check the monitor reviews how the panel performs and see if it is ok for you or not. As for flickering, this may happen when you have bad DP cable, wrong Free sync / Gsync setup or driver problem. Never seen it happen though. You can check on good monitor reviews here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ https://pcmonitors.info/ -
Huh I do remember that the AI gunners were already working before in 1.5 for Huey. I was not flying it in 2.5 though. Did I miss something?

Is the Steam release date on March 13th as well?
Jumbik replied to MobiSev's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
According to the message under the trailer, yes it will. -
You will have "Iceman" AI at your disposal. It will not be fully fledged pilot but you can order him around. From what was stated, he will not be able to engage in a fight though, only in flying as ordered (how where...).

The goal of dedicated server is that you do not need any game related data, it will be a small installation package which only run the mutliplayer environment. It will not require strong HW, nor licences, it will be possible to rent it from a service runner. Apparently the DCS iteration is still in its baby steps.
-
Dude, just look at what is written in the original message, they are stating there that they are working on it. After all it's still in beta...
-
Well I suppose they do not have a way how to prevent remote tampering with your server if you will allow remote control. The only way to go now is to limit it for your login.
-
ED is actually trying to improve performance by running server-client on a single machine. I suppose they are still not ready to do it but the goal was that even in single player you would be connecting to a local server instance which would help with performance as the map/unit simulation would run on another thread than the main game.
-
SSD helps with loading times and stutters, but not much with fps. Depends if your system is swapping or not. If the mission is so big that 16GB of RAM is not enough, then yes, SSD could help you a bit.
-
If the mission contains moving ground units then it will be CPU bound bottleneck. It's the weak spot of DCS. They plan to counter this with running the simulation separately and you would be connecting as a client to a running instance. This will ensure that the map simulation with units will run on a separate thread than your game runs. They will most probably release the dedicated server this friday, but if it will suport this feature right away, I do not know. Until then either try to tune down the amount of moving units on the map (if the maps are yours) or choose less heavy mission to play. Static units usually do not stress the system much, the main problem is path finding algorithm.
-
What problems do you have? Higher clocked CPU could help in your case, but do note that heavy missions will always give trouble. At least until ED makes significant changes like supporting Server + Client in Single player too via dedicated server feature to allow offloading ground units simulation to different threads. Combining it with Vulkan and then we may be safe even with very heavy missions. :)

Radeon VII, what do you guys think ?
Jumbik replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Simple moded watter loop and magic happens. Proper AIO cards will be monstrous. Second generation 7nm cards will be good. :) -
You cannot spend bonus on titles marked as new.
-
The download will vary a lot based on what maps you will download.
-
I wouldn't call it a waste. You will definitely see major improvements in performance when switching to 2070.

Setting up multiple displays is easy. It was easy even with nvidia, but I had technical problems there. But regarding gaming, if you want to switch displays while gaming, be prepared that either the game has to support output to a different display than primary one or you will have have to switch your primary manually before running the game. I use my tv as a video output mainly. For example I play a game on main, watch twitch on second and play a movie on tv at the same time. You just use different audio output for the movie and all is fine. :) -
At the risk of opening a huge can of worms.......
Jumbik replied to JanK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Its visible in the screenshot. He has 27" monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. With that, I think he should be able to run AA, at least 2x. -
Ejections seats functionality, multiplayer concerns.
Jumbik replied to Jumbik's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Ok my bad, looking at the manual now I can see how it can be set, but the concerns are still there. If I'm not making mistake here, the handle which determines the ejection logic is in RIO's office. So the question still holds for the second part. Can we protect ourselves in multiplayer against misuse of this? Can I block people from joining me in RIO's seat? -
Is RIO ejection seat connected to the pilots one? Are both ejecting at the same time, or they can depart separately? Can we protect ourselves from misuses of this in multiplayer? Where pranksters would eject me after joining as RIO? On a more funny note, can AI RIO eject on his own when he becomes fed up with my flying? "Screw this I'm out." thing? :)

I have to wonder how a good news after a long time can still make people depressed, angry, irrational ... why, how, WTF. How one or two weeks more can make any difference here after several years? Just sit back, get a beer, or something and relax, watch some movie, read a book, anything...

The first thing you will notice when switching is, that nvidia has more washed out look, but that is just a minor thing, you can tweak it in drivers. It boils down to the different way of compression being used for colors. Regarding to the quality, I saw a proof in Battlefield games where it was better on AMD cards but that is a game that was optimized for them specifically. It looked like nvidia was cheating with details to get better results in the game but that is just my guess. But regarding DCS, you will not see a difference. Only difference will be the slight change in the color representation. The main difference when I have switched was that on AMD side I got rid of problems I had on nvidia. And it just confirmed my suspicion I had about it. I use two monitors and a TV connected to one PC. Monitors are connected via DPs and TV via HDMI. When I upgraded from AMD 6970 to nvidia 980, my TV started to randomly not connect on startup, or sound was not working, I have bought a new cable twice, no joy. I was restarting my PC at least every other day just because of this. I somewhat solved it with active reductions. But I was not able to set my main monitor as main, the TV was always considered main in the post until I got into windows. Then I have upgraded to 1070 and I had the same problem again! And on top of that I have bricked my PC 3 times with new nvidia driver installations in one year! I stopped installing new drivers altogether after that. I just got fed up with nvidia and bought Vega. And I do not want to look dramatic here, but my problems were gone, everything worked on first connection. My main monitor was now main even in post, no active reductions needed. Best first impressions ever. :) And on top of that, when I saw what AMD did with their driver package, I was impressed, a lot. I know that current AMD cards are not the best, but I suppose with the new NAVI cards on their way, we will see some improvements after a long time. Personally I cannot wait for the Arcturus high end card that will come in 2020. -
My bet is that we will see Hind released together with the map of Afghanistan... well because you know why. It will be sold as a bundle too. The same way how F-18C was with Hormuz.
