  1. Ka-50 Pitbuild Update 23 august 2008 - Finbishing touch on Collective Box, and PCB I finished the breakout board for the Collective Module yesterday: And the plastic panels that hold the cooliehats down on the Collective Box..
  2. You guys must be cheating... My desktop is NEVER as tidy as yours seem to be..? Take a look and see for yourselves.. ....and now I even cleaned out all the PORN to..?:music_whistling: Shot at 2008-08-23
  3. I found this document decribing all the switches for the Su-25A. Some of the switches are the same as in the "T".. You can download the whole document from this URL: http://www.imageshack.us/?pickup=80127039868871 Just make sure to use code: 80127039868871 Left Front Panel : 1-6 Weapons Control Panel 1 0 / ФИКС / ПРОГР – ЗАЛП 0,1 / 0,2 / 0,3 / 0,4 / СЕРИЯКМГУ – МБД : AdjustableDepression Angle / Fixed / Program Salvo interval 0.1s / 0.2s / 0.3s / 0.4s / KMGU – preset salvo program 2 ОТСЕЧКА / ОТКЛ : Salvo Cut off On/Off 3 УР-ППУВНЕШН – ВНУТР : Select interior Cannon or External missiles/gunpods 4 ВОЗДУХ – ЗЕМЛЯ : Sélector Air to Air / Air to Ground 5 ТОРМОЗ : Select lowdrag / retarded bombs 6 ПРЕДОХРЛЕВ / СПБ / ПРАВ – ПО 1 / ПО 2 / ПО 4 Salvo selector: Left wing Safety on / Safety on All / Right wing Safety on Salvo selector: no1 / no2 / no4 / All 7 УБРАНО – ВЫПУЩЕНО : Gear Up - Down 8 ФАРЫПОСАДКА – РУЛЕЖ – УБРАНЫ : Lights Landing – Taxi - Off 9 МАРКЕР: Warning signal when flying over the IM/OM radiobeakon(cf. 14) МАНЕВРЦЕЛИ : Target selector operating 10 МЕХКРЫЛАПК – МК – ВПК : Flap setting switch Up – Flight - Landing 11 Position indicator for gear – airbrakes – flaps – Warning 12 АВАРВЫПУСКШАССИ, ТЯНИПОВЕРНИ : EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR LOWERING, PULL & TURN 13 УПРКОЛЕСОМ 1ГС / ОТКЛ / 2ГС : Yaw-Trim & roll mixing, small steps / disconnected / large steps 14 ДАЛЬН / АВТ / БЛИЖН : Radio beakon selector : Inner Marker (IM) / Auto / Outer Marker (OM) 15 ПОВТОРЗАХОД : Select "Go-around Mode" 16 ВКЛ: 17 УУАП : Combined Indicator for Angle Of Attack AoA (in °) and G-force factor (in G) 18 α, Пукритич: Alarm ”G-force overload” 19 КОНТРОЛЬУУАП : Combined Warning light for ‘AoA’ and ‘Over-g’ If anyone can fill out the blanks I would be delightet...!
  4. Thanx guys.. :music_whistling: I will replace some of the crappy Cellphone Pics with new ones tonight.. And I am in the process of making the breakout-board for the collective mechanism and Right Rear Wall now.. Just got to finish the Input / Output schematics first to be sure I don't forget anything (as if I haven't done that EVERY time, and still forget..) Anyone want the E-Drwaings if this, just send me a PM with your e-mail adress and I'll send it your way.. The drawings can't be more final than they are...
  5. Ka-50 Pitbuild Update 19. august 2008 - Wiring up the Collective Stick 2 I can't belive it actually takes 32 wires to connect all the switches in the Collective Box..? But it is starting to look like something now? All the red plastic will be replaced or painted like the real thing.. I'll also have to add some "fake" wires to make the wire-bundle look a bit fuller.. I can't wait to test it out..! Some details of the springloading and dampener:
  6. Ka-50 Pitbuild Update 19 august 2008 - Wiring up the Collective Stick I just couldn't help myself.. I had to have the wires run out from the Collective stick like the real thing..! It's not really practical or important, but I just had to! This is the real thing: And how I buildt it: I attached the dampener that makes the Collective "neutral" ti the crossbar for the spring. And it worked out just PERFECT! Now the Collective Stick is a independent module.. The Collective Switch Box is attached to this wood plug. And slotted into the stick, and fastened with setscrews under the handle. Did some cosmetic touches to the Coolie Hat plates on the Collective Box: Well.. You get the picture I hope..?
  7. I agree..! It would have to be the "Frog", and it's a natural sucsessor for the A-10 to?
  8. HEAR HEAR..! We all seem to be chasing the "Wet Beta Tester Dream" here.. Forgetting that the guys who code this simulator probably have some kind of goal they are working towards. And I'm guessing they're not strangers to flight simming to..? Beta tester contribute back to the makers.. And I'm guessing it's not ALL fun and games all the time..! Learning a simulator because we want to get a head start before the Helicopter Wing of our squadron opens is not Beta Testing.. .... but there's no shame in asking even so..?:smartass:
  9. Ka-50 Pitbuilding Update 18 August 2008 - Collective mechanics A bit of change since you last saw it..! I decided to exchange the bent alu plate for a spring tensioned webstrap. It gives me a more uniform resistance the whole moving range of the collective, and doesn't need to be bent back into shape all the time. The blue thing is the springloaded web strap. I added some pieces from a steel pipe to let the webstrap run on..! Instead of the 20x20mm alu square I had before.. Collective Break is on, and it doesn't move a millimeter..! And Collective Break is OFF.. And it runs effortlessly up and down.. - The lowest Collective position. Approx Hover Pitch.. And Maximum Collective position.. Any angle higher than this and I'll get a thumb-cramp from using the cooliehats on the Collective Stick..! Overview of the mechanics. Well that actually is a milestone for me..! This is the first mechanics that can be used for flightsimming now..! I'm making the PCB's for all the connections in a couple of days.. :joystick:
  10. I'm sorry to hear that mate..! Hope it's nothing to serious? Why don't you take contyrol of the family ship and go sailing on the West Coast.? I hear good things about the.... sailing... there..? :music_whistling: Thanx Noti..! It really has been a good summer.. Lotsa fresh air and sports, and LOTS of FUN..! Hmmm..! I think the Proxxon table was 230,- Euros or arround that range? The MDF I had in my garage. The Rollerbearings were 10 Euros, and the Aluminum Square pipe I cut to make the 90degree angle I actually got for free.. If you ask the industry politely, and tell them what you're going to use it for, the give away cut-offs and scrap pieces for free... And the bigger the manufacturer you ask.. the bigger "scrap" they have..:smartass: The Stepper Controller Card from HobbyCnC was only 99 US Dollar (I chose the 4 axis kit). The Hand router motor was saved from a crappy "cheapo" router that was thrown away because it was useless..! But the motor and bearings are fine.. So nothing there.. Powersupplies I have a lot of from before, and I managed to get my hands on a stinky old laptop that will run Windows 2000 or XP and Mach3 software for the ControllerCard.. And of course you know I use Solidworks for CAD, and SolidCAM for CAM.. (price unknown) So that comes to the grand total of 294 Euros so far..
  11. Amd more what I did this summer..! KITESURFING
  12. What did I do this Summer? I have had the best summer ever..! Here are some pics.! You can only imagine my surprice when I noticed that the owner is also the guy who designed the NAJAD's.. Bernt is probably my new all time HERO..! And one of the most pleasant and interresting people I've met..! (and he has a beautifull girlfriend to..?) A bit of "weather" awaiting us just south of Lofoten.. We had already made the decition that we were going to sail through the night before we saw this.. Bummer! Details , details , details.. .. A tip for you boat owners.. Wash the deck with Chlorine.. STRONG Chlorine..! I though my father had lost it when he told me this, but look how good the result was..! Where I always smile..! It never fails..! Just shut down the Autopilot (I hate sailing with it.. it feels so.. fake..) ... lean back, and ENJOY..! My father..! Honestly I have to make a small dementi here..! This guy will always be my hero..! He's pigheaded, stubborn and sometimes inpossible to talk reason to.. So at least now I know where I have that from..! Always at work.. The view from the sofa and back through the kitchen, engine room (starboard side), Captains Cabin and toilette and shower.. A well deserved brake from sleeping the whole day..! And they say Norway has rough weather ...? By the way.. The boat is Swedish.. I however am NOT..! So there is no need to get all patriotic on me, my dear swedish brothers..! Finally convinsed the On-Duty Captain that it would be nice to get some canvas up on both sides..! These two sails are both roll-up sails. controlled from cockpit and rolled in and out by two seriously MASSIVE electrical winches..! Sigh.. the joy.. Two generations disagreeing on something.. I'm guessing I was right..! LMAO..! (he's gonna kill me if he reads this) This is where you see that NAJADs are just in a category of theyr own..! ALL the wood on this boat came from the same log of mahogny wood..! So there is no difference anywhere in the wood grains.. DROOL..! Hmmmm.. If I don't eat for another 25 years, and sell everything I own, and borrow all I can, and get a friend to do the same... I might have enough for this boat..! DAMMIT..! Look at him..! He just LOVES those damn autopilots..! Aaaaargh..! (Text added later..)
  13. Ka-50 Pitbuild Update 02 august 2008 - Finishing the Desk CnC Router It's just to warm to do anything inside these days, so I have finished the Proxxon CnC rebuild mechanics. I now I'm going to wait for a rainy day, and build the Stepper controller kit I got from HobbyCnC. Steppers are in house, and the Z-axis anti backlash nut design I really haven't decided on yet.. Cya..
  14. It's http://vkb-flightsimcontrols.com
  15. Thanx for the tip mate.. I bought them..!
  16. ...hold me back..! You guys have got to be kidding..? The A-10 is an excellent ground attack plane. And i agree with you that it's supreme when flying "down and dirty", but there stops the comparisment.. You have to think in completely different lines of attack when you approach the Target Area in a Frog.. It's like comparing the Su-25T with a Tornado..! The do the same job, but HOW they do it..? They are not even close in how they solve the ingressing and tactics while over TA..! (and the "T" has better flight dynamics in LO:FC.. It just has..)
  17. I'm so envious of you guys these pedals..! I have been "seek-peeking" on the sukhoi.ru forum and its HOTAS modifications, and the development of these pedals for about a year now.. If you like modding stuff, or just need some new new input on how to approach it, you should definately check these guys out..! (but then again I have a soft-spot for RU egineers.. no secret there.. :music_whistling:) Eeeehh.. But...? Are you telling me that there are guys out there flying LockOn today without any kind of head-tracking device..? Guys.. Listen to Aeroscout and get it NOW..! I have Freetrack running on one of my computers. and I made a IR Head-thingie.. One word of advice though.. Read the forums and find yourself a WebCam that has been tried and tested by someone else. And make an effort of going the IR-LED way.. It's so much better! It's not quite as plug-and-play as the TrackIR 4 with the Active IR headgear. But it's not far behind, AND it's free..! Ps. There is a great chanse that it actually IS as good as Naturalpoints TrackIR product.. I'm using a old crappy cheap webcam for it, so my inputs on this matter is less than adequate.. Again.. read the forums.! ...make them yourself..? The "off the shelf" pedals I have tried are all to narrow, and just feels to "plastic"! Or you can treat yourself with those VBK pedals.. You can't go wrong there I guess.!
  18. Ka-50 Pitbuilding Update 28. July 2008 Just got home yesterday from what has to the greatest sailing EVER..! (Pics Coming CAT.. And we need to talk more about this.. ) Collective Mechanics: Got the Collective brake guide attached and bent into the shape it needs to have to run smoothly.. It's fixed to the top plate, and when I let go of the Collective Brake Handle it sticks like a fly on a bar of chocolate.. This means that I hust have to give the mechanics a good sanding over and some paint, and it is ready to be fixed to the Left Backplate on the Pit.. Oh yeah.. I still have to run all the wires through the handle, but that'll be done in a jiffy..! I have a serious problem now that the Ka-50 Pit has been translated to english in DCS.. I'm not quite sure, but right now I am leaning towards making the rest of the Pit with english lettering. To make it easyer to aquaint myself with all the panels in stressfull situations... And not having to memorize all the functions.. ...but then again.... It's not quite right is it..? Feedback or thoughts arround the subject will be greatly appreciated guys..! CnC-Router Building I got the kit for the Stepper motor driver Card from HobbyCnC the day before I left. And have decided to leave it in my drawer untill the Z-axis building is 100% finished.. But that will NOT take long now.. This is todays progression: I have finished the cradle for the router motor. It will be fixed to an alu plate on the bottom of the cradle. And sit snugly through the 50mm hole.. The rollers are attached to the cradle and now all that remain is to fix the outboard rollers and repplace all the screws with tension bolts (like on furniture).. I hope to have it done tomorrow..
  19. LMAO.. I actually hope it NOT for DCS, becuase then I would have a serious problem on my hands.. Su-25A fully clickable cockpit or my Ka-50 Cockpit..!? And just one small room dedicated to pitbuilding.. This is the most beautifull MOD so far if tyou ask me, but then again I AM a "Frog Freak".. This new model, and the navigation panels "Go Arround", "Return to previous WayPoint" and the "Attitude Hold" modes as they should be.. And I would be a happy camper.. But then again I allready am so....:D GREAT WORK GUYS..! This is one mod I WILL use..
  20. Where to get cheap small LCD's I agree.. Get a cheap CRT for the Shkval..! I found one for next to nothing that was buildt into a plastic football casing. It has S/Vhs input and seems to do the trick.. Got it in one of those shops that sell anything from pencil sharpeners to paint and bisciuts and toilet paper.. I have a 7" PYLE Lcd that I was going to use for the ABRIS. but I'm not sure it's big enough.. A 9" seems to be the right size? The cheapest place to find second hand small LCD's is auto shops.. Specially the "we install your car stereo for you" type. They always have some slave LCD's in a drawer from a job where they only needed three ot of a four LCD pack. Or when a master LCD with integratet Dvd player breaks down and is replaced with a new kit.. I actually got mine for free because they couldn't figure out the pin-out of it.. Opened the thing up and replaced four wires (12 Volt positive and ground, and signal/screen for input RCA plug), and now it works like a charm.. :smilewink: If i'm not going to use it we'll work something out..
  21. Summer hollyday! Thanx guys..! I off to my summer holliday now. I have been so lucky to be asked to crew onboard a sailboat (.. and not just ANY sailboat.. a NAJAD) this summer. And sail it from Lofoten wayyy up by the Arctic Circle and down to Oslo.. The boat: And the route: Guess I'll have to stop thinking about pitbuilding a couple of weeks, and just ENJOY..! Cya in a little while guys..! Ps. got my 10" LCD Touchscreen the other day. And I just have to say.. Touchbuddy RULES..!
  22. Ka-50 Pitbuilding update 14 july 2008 Not a whole lot got done on the pit this weekend..! I had to catch up with my RL job. And that has priority above ALL..! I did get to drill a buch of holes you don't see, and paint the back fixing plate though. Oh Yeah..! And I got to test fit it on the left lower panel module: This is what I wanted: And this is what I got: Again what I wanted: And what I got: ... it's finally starting to look like something now..
