1. PM me your e-mail adress and I'll send over drawings of what I have so far mate...
2. GRATULERE MED DAGEN..! ps. føles rart å skrive Norsk her gitt..!
3. Dunno if this might be in the wrong place on the forum.. Fell free to Bump me if so.. I have a good friend and neighbor who clearly have lost he's mind these days..! We're in a constant Tech-Consultant role with eachother, but this time he has supassed me by a MILE..! Not only does the bast... have unnatural skills in piloting RC Helicopters, but now he wants to do it AT NIGHT..! AND from sitting inside he's CAR..! This is the chopper.. A T-REX 600 with the three day/night cameras transmitting a downlink to a reciever inside the car. The video signal is transmitted on the 900MHz band videolink to.....THREE 19" SCREENS..! Notice the bright sunny day outside..? NOT..! He actually could'nt see the helicopter from outside if he wanted to.. It was quite simply to dark after this initial flight..! Notice the deranged maniac look in he's eyes..? This is the kind of man you DO NOT WANT YOUR DAUGHTER TO MARRY..!:megalol: .... I have to get away from here...
4. Update Pitbuilding - 21. October 2008 - Assembly Drawing, Pedals and HUD ... Thank you guys..! It's really cool of you to give positive feedback like you do.. It brings my motivation level back right where it should be.. ! First up I put the drawings of what I have finished building so far together.. Just to see how it looks so far: HUD is courtesy of Wasserfall's beautfull drawings.. Thanx Mate..! Your drawings did the trick for me..! It is build of 3mm Polypropylene plates used for making signes and decorations on shops. I got a plate from a local signmaking industry here at home.. Drawings will be posted when finishing touches are done. Now the whole assembly: .... Don't I look GOOD!!:music_whistling: PEDALS..PEDALS.. PEDALS..! Now todays quiz..! In all helicopters I have sat in I have noticed that the pedals pivot around the point that the heel of your foot touch the floor.. Like this: But the KA-50 seems to have the type of pedals that most fixed wings have..? You know the kind where you slide your feet in a linear motion..? Well to be sure have a look at this picture: Now, knowing that helicopter pilots rearly fly with the pedals centered it became quite clear to me that I was in for some serious cramp after a while.! And however much I scaled up the pictures I had where you got a glimpse of the KA-50's pedals it still puzzles me..! I want to go for the pivoting type pedals, but not if there is a reason for why Kamov have chosen the other linear type? So far I have made the foot-pedals for the linear type: With the holders for ball-bearings just in case I choose to go this way. (Naturally the front of it will have a 2mm Aluminum plate where my feet rest, and a bit of filler and paint is also yet to be added) Feedback guys..! I need feedback..! :music_whistling:.. HPO.. I also need your input on the springloading for the Cannon trigger? I am out of ideas my friend.. I NEED YOU..!
5. Things to come... After the pre-release of the manual for DCS Blackshark I have started finalising the drawings for the panels.. And the pedals (have buildt the foot-pedals already, but I'm not satified with the way they feel)... And the new Left Back Wall with the sliding protections for the Collective Stick.. Some teasers:
6. Magnets...! Gotta Love'em? I finally found a way to make the switch lid on my Collective not come off..! This is what it should look like.. I did'nt want screws stickin' out and making it look.... thinking... well.. now that I come to think of it, it would'nt have made much of a difference.. It is after all a russian collective..! made to work well, not look well.! And underneath it's all a bunch of wires to all the switches and stuff! 32 wires in all! So I found some of the Neodyme Magnets I use for my hall Effect sencors. And they are STRONG and small. A bit of measuring and a trip out into the garage to make some spacers from 8mm Acrylic. Drill holes in both ends of the spacer, and make some 3mm threads (gluing acryllic to painted anything is just a really bad idea.. unless you are into frustration?). And the same on the bottom of the lid: And stic'em together: The thing is that this way of attaching lids turned out to work so well that I'm using it wherever I can.. Even on a piece that will be "man-handled" during playing like this one..
7. Playing with RL Helis... I was visiting a friend of mine that has the coolest job..! :music_whistling: Guess from the pics what he does? (Edit: Ps. the guy in the pics is ME.. not my lucky friend.. Aaaaaargh!) Me at the EC-135.. GRINNING..! Notice that this EC-120 have no rotorblades..? This is not an early experimental version of a civilian ejectionseat. Just an unfortunate mishap where they forgot to make sure the door was secured while spooling upp the rotor. And guess what..? Now the rotor and the door have met eachother...! The door got away with a busted corner, but three of the rotorblades were broken... Did I hear a now "pro-bono" pilot crying? .... And yes..! I did get to try the EC-120... I must say that although the EC-135 Looks Cooler, and has instrumentation Galore! The '120' just apeal to me.. It looks more mean..!
8. I can't speak or read a word russian, but I'll buy them both..!
9. I HAVE SEEN IT..! I've seen it, had it in my hands and it's truly a thing of beauty..! (C'mon guys...! I was talking about the Su-27 stick..! Go wash your dirty minds out with consentrated acid..!) And when it's ready for the next step it will most certainly be the best stick out there EVER..! HPO..! You have such incredible skills you are my new Idol..! BTW.. Next time i'm coming down to you I am flying.. The drive back to Norway was nothing short of torture.. And I got pulled over by the cops AGAIN..!
10. Well..? I was hoping to show everyone that you can build one real easy if you want..? As far as I have experienced till now, it's really not very complex before you start fiddling with the CAM Software.. And even that is do-able..! Yup mate..! I'm so looking forwards to that..! Hmmm.. Good point..! I'll have to make a recess for the fastening nut on all the switches. But apart from that it's not quite flat. There are holes that all the Backlight LED sit in. So they shine the light on the inside of the panel.. (that's why I paint first with white, and then flat black) .... I'll make an update on the drawings.. BTW.. I've started working wioth SolidCAM as my G-Code maker.. And it ROCKS..! As you probably see I can set up the pockets, edges holes and islands in Solidworks. And it generates G-code that Mach3 can read and produce parts.. I CAN'T WAYT..!
11. Pitbuilding Update 2. October 2008 - CnC Motors running! Phuuuh..! After what seems like a mans age of fiddling I finally got the cnc motors running.. I'll try making a video for you..! This means that my Pitbuilding can finally progress forwards again..
12. Damn fine work Oakes.. Wish I had seen this before making my post..
13. Panel Building Tutorial I thought I'd make a small tutorial on panelbuilding. I start out with a piece of 8mm Acryllic roughly cut to size Drill the monting holes and shamfer the corners And paint the whole thing White with at least two coates of gloss paint. Then add 4-6 coates off flat Black paint on top of that. And the it's mountesd in the CnC Mill for making the bigger holes. Another round in the CnC Mill cut out the pockets that the text is in. Now these pockets need to be painted white and then black again. Like this: The CnC Mill use a 0,6mm fine endmill ti cut out the lettering so the light shine through the grooves and look nice! and finally the edges are bevelled and some adittionall pint is added. This is the backside before drilling the holes that the Backligh LED's are mounted in: Backlight holes and holes to make room for the mounting nuts. And the result: I'll be updating this post with pics off the "real panel" as it comes along later tonight... Cya!
14. Threw together a temperary attachment for the Z-Axis tonight.. But then while testing the controller card the H-Bridge thingie for the x-axis all off a sudden went "Pooof!"
15. LMAO..! I'm visualizing a fortune worth of peltier elements and a fridge to cool the fridge..
16. I know..! I know..! My girlfriend is trying to quit smoking now, and she's got all the willpower I haven't... And me, being a simple man addicted to kissing her, will just have to cave in and quit to..! :helpsmilie::helpsmilie::helpsmilie: I finished the Stepper Controller card this morning.. Can't wayt to test it.. Ps. Alex you're sooo right.. Looking at the inviting ashtray in my pics even I have to admitt that it's a nasty habbit..
17. I am a slap in the face of my own intellect...! You would think that by now I had learned to not start building after midnight..? I just get carried away..! But at least the controller card for the stepper motors are just about assembled.. Now if I could only forget about testing them and get some sleep..? (think happy thoughts Trigger... Varm colors and rainbows and Blaaargh.... This 'ain working for me at all....) And I recruitet some help soldering from a mate of mine.. A man can only do so much soldering in one day without going insane (or get a really bad headache..)
18. Thanx mate.. :music_whistling: Well actually I guess you do have a point on the wife issue. I haven't got a wife at all.. And to be honest I think your right..! If I was married she would probably either have me killed or leave me from a lack of attention.. LoL.. But that's one of the finer things of having ex-wifes.. You have all the experience and knowlegde of what NOT to do in a relationship. And if your lucky (like me) you can have the worlds greatest girlfriend, AND the time to build a cockpit.. Heck Alex..! If YOU find it complex I'm not even going into that..! To be honest I'm kind in the dark on what a USB developing board does to be honest. But then again you're operating on a higher level than me.. I do want to learn how to program Mircrochips (PIC programming) sometime soon. But It'll have to wait a while.. Not a lot actually..! Since I'm doing this the DIY way I mostly use parts I can get for next-to-nothing or free.. The CNC router I only payd for the X/Y table from Proxxon was 215 Euro and the Controller Card from HobbyCNC was 54 Euro.. The Steppers I got from an old Photocopy machine that was due to be scrapped anyway. .. Basicly I'm building the pit from JUNK..! LMAO..
19. I would check out URZE's Collective on http://www.leftside-limited.com/collective.html If I were you..! At least you can be sure it works perfectly, and has all the functions you might need for the KA-50.. Or you can build one yourself like I have? I have attached the E-Drawings file in RAR format for you to download..! This is the end result: Here's the RAR file for you: Just open it and it will self-install.. Ps. If you want to see HOW to make this, just check out my thread on : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=27270&page=34
20. OK..! This does it for me..! After reading this, and drooling over your pics I just couldn't help myself..! I have ordered four ned monitors.. And URZE..? Can I come and play on yuur computer..? Pleaasee..?
21. Pitbuilding Update september 5th 2008 - Collective Cable routing I changed the cable type running to the collective switch box to a type that would that the bending and moving better.. Now If I can just find a way to get all of them iside the handle???:( And the breakout boards that will connect all the switches and the Hall effect sencor. Also it will supply power to the light and two fans on the Left Rear Wall.. I Started soldering all the cables tio the Cooilehats and switches in the Collective box.. ... But it was so boring I had to take a break...
22. Pitbuilding Update september 5th 2008 - CnC Router finishing All that's missing now on the router is attaching the stepper motors.. Some pictures of the progress: The fixing plate for the Router motor. The motor sits like tis in the cradle for the Z-Axis. Like this...! I made a Zero Backlash Nut from a piece of Teflon that I made 8mm threads in... And split with a finetooth hacksaw on one side. The split can be tightened with a couple of 3mm screws so I can remove any play that wear and tear might make in time.. The Z-Axis 8mm Threaded Rod runs in a couple of simple attachments I made from some 4mm Aluminium scraps I found. And I drilled a 22mm hole in the top one using one of those "Step Drills" that go fron 6mm to 22mm. They are bolted to the top and bottom plate with 6mm bolts that go through the MDF and have BIG washers on the side of the nuts. And it all looks like this before finishing, sanding corners, making holes for cables and then painting: The Stuff That makes it work: The Controller Card undergoing assembly: The Stepper motors are Sanyo Denki Type 103H5208-0841 24V 1,8 Degrees per step. I don't know if these will be powerfull enough even when I gear them down 3:1..? Inputs anyone? Ps. AlexRC You have any thoughts?
23. You should really listen to cousins..! It's like 3D sailing. And both a good way to stay in shape, have A LOT OF FUN, and get some adrenaline..!:smilewink: I have tried zooming in on the switch, google my *ss off to find the answer, AND use whatever common sence I have to find out what it's for..! But in the end I must admitt that I DON'T CARE..! It's not in DCS simulator.. Hi Hi.. Ps. But if anyone has an idea, please let me know..
24. You should PM him..! Urze is the nicest guy, and I'm sure he'll help you when he finds the time..?
