  1. I know what you mean, when Fed-Ex pulled up and said they had a 85 lbs. box for me it was heaven.
  2. To Prophet4no1 There are people that do not look at a price tag, or consider bang for the buck, on there purchases. I am one of them. I know what I want and I am going to buy it, whatever the price. At times it might be foolish, but as a good friend told me. Who dies with the most toys wins. A person sees a system that does what he wants it to do, and then buys it. Simple
  3. Icarus2, In your post #61 you said it all, just the way I felt when I determined that I needed to upgrade, not having the time to research the components, and how they work with each other,or the time to build it. I look at all the prebuild units, Cyberpower, Falcon, and a host of others. I settle on the Alienware Aurora ALX. Your statement "they just want to run everything and not have the hassle of building." Describes me to the tee. A proud Alienware Aurora ALX owner.
  4. Check out this Dell link. http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19320696.aspx
  5. The Alienware shown in the microcenter link, has the case that was used before Dell took it over. I order the Aurora ALX and the next week the Area 51 came out, its a different case. Would have order it over the Aurora ALX, mainly because it had SSD options, but Dell advertise it as coming soon. Not knowing when soon would be here, I could't wait.
  6. Not all Alienware builds are bad, see my post #8, but I did buy it in the first week that it went on sale. I haven't had any of the BIOS problums that the later units had. But over at the Dell site there is updated BIOS downloads for those who did. Plus I have the ALX model, and there tech support phone menu has a number just for ALX support. From what I read the ALX units have better quality componets, so the extra money I spent on the ALX build is maybe why I'm not having any trouble.
  7. To =124Sq=Zeljava Back in the 70's I took a computer course. I was taught. Do not buy a computer, then the software. Buy the software then a computer that can run the software. After 4 years of low FPS, stutters, etc. I purchase a unit just to run Lockon FC, it has a i7 975 processor, 12 GB ram, dual ATI 5870 GPU. In those years I did not complained about the lousy game play, for I realized that it was my computer not the software. Now my Lockon FC rocks. So spend some money and buy a computer that can run this sim the way you expected it to. Also be prepare to spend money on extras such as HOTAS, gaming keyboard, MFD, etc. to fulfill the Lockon experience.
  8. Since I upgraded to Windows 7, I can log on, see what servers are up and who flying, but I can't connect. When I hit connect an old Starforce window pops up from the original lockon befor FC, I'm using FC 1.2b So I now just connect using the server's IP address.
  9. I received my Alienware ALX in November, waited about 7 weeks. It was worth the wait. i7 975 extreme overclock, 12GB ram, Dual 5870 in crossfire, 4 1TB hard drives in RAID 10, Dual drives dvd cd, blue ray. On of the hard drives failed, easy exchange. When I upgraded to Windows7 64 bit, the tech support did it, that is after I inserted the disk and the preliminary inputs, they did a remote assist, in downloading, setting up and installing the drivers. All I had to do was install my programs, Great guys in the tech section.
  10. Hope someone knows this error. I had one of my best flights, in the 51st tonight, was about to land, which would give me double points for the stats. Then I crash to the desktop. The error log has this in it, the same line listed hundreds of times. LuaExport::LuaExportBeforeNextFrame: [string "./Config/Export/Export.lua"]:-1: C stack overflow Can anyone explaned what it means.
  11. After installing FC, go to Lockon.co.uk and download the CORRECT patch, there one for the CD version, the DL verison, and were it came from, Russia, Europe, North America.
  12. This may be hard to explained I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, Installed Lockon, FC. Modman, etc. . Installed Hyperlobby. Now comes the hard to explain part. When I start the sim by the shortcut, its good. If I go though Hyperlobby, when I click on " join this game " I get a old version of the Starfoce window. And its a dead end. I found opeaning the Lockon folder and click on the Lockon application, 4,054 KB (c/program files (x86) ubisoft/ eagle dynamics/ lockon ), its ok, Lockon starts. If I click on the Lockon application in the backup_1.1 folder, 3,946 KB (c/program files (x86)/ubisoft/eagle dynamics/lockon/back_1.1.) I get the old Starforce window. So i'm figuring that somehow that Hyperlobby is starting Lockon with the backup_1.1 folder, and I'm assuming that the application in backup_1.1, is the plain Lockon, befor FC was installed. I took the backup folder out on the Lockon directory, when I hit join this game, Hyperlobby disappears then after approximate 10 seconds it comes back up. No Lockon or Starfoce window. Same thing when I pulled the Lockon application out of the backup_1.1 folder. Tried putting the 4,054 KB application in the backup_1.1 folder and I recived this. The procedure entry point ?Create@woPoint@@SAKABVVector@E3@@K@z could not be located in the dynamic link library WORLDSMALL.DLL I did a uninstall and reinstall of Hyperlobby, it does't change. Any suggestions on how to get Hyperlobby to start Lockon.
  13. Been starting it with run administrator, but I did'nt know about the box in properties. I check it, now the unexpected error box is gone. But I still get the Lua5.dill missing error box, and Lua5.dill is listed in the program.
  14. Sorry Torwak that did'nt work. Here is what is happening. Click on the Hyperlobby icon. The start up screen appears, with a error box on top of it. The box reads, "Unexpected error, quitting". Click on OK and it reappears, click ok again, then it goes away. Then Hyperlobby interface screen comes up, my callsign is there, I put in the password, hit connect. Everthing is normal. Click of one of the server, the info window appears. Click on Join this game. The interface window disappers. Now a error box comes up. It reads " Lockon.exe - System Error The program can't start because Lua5.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problum." ( tried that, both Lockon and Hyperlobby ). Click on OK the error box goes away, then Hyperlobby interface screen comes back up. Open up the Lockon folder ( Ubisoft/Eagle Dynamics/Lock On ) and Lua5.dll is there. Any Ideas ? I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit
  15. Ok, I purchase a program to resize the partition, resize it to under 1tb. downloaded Hyperlobby and it install. Opean it and found that I had to do the delete dot thing. Started it up, click on Lock On, enter my ID and pasword. When I hit join the game, I now get a window saying it couldn't find the path. I put the path in it, hit save. Now I'm back at the interface, Click on, join this game, the interface disappears, just as it did in the old computer. BUT instead of Lock On starting, after about 5 sec. the Hyperlobby interface reappears. Any Suggestions.
  16. Thanks, but it did not work. Additional searches found other people with the same trouble. (outside of lockon) It seems that if the partition is over 1tb the error code 00032c0 pops up, during the instillation. Some people were able to do a work around it, but they did'nt work for me. Looks like I have to set up some partitions. I'll be hitting the web sites for the know how, or see if there is any software that can do it. Went from XP to Windows 7, so I'm still in the learning curve of this OS.
  17. Just starter up a new computer with Windows 7 OS. I can download Hyperlobby, but when I run it, I get a error 216 at 00032C0. Doing a search I found out, its that the hard drive is over 1 TB. The hard drives I have are two, 1.5 TB in RAID0. Does anyone know how to get around this. Thanks for any info you can give. PS, The forums at Hyperlobby are down.
  18. Just got a Alienware Aurora ALX. i7 975 extreme, 12GB ram, 2TB hard drive in RAID 10, and Dual Radeon HD 5870. Just starting to do the Lock On install, make the X52, G19 profiles, etc. So far with everthing on high, in my A-10, strafing and bombing a convoy that's in a city, the FPS did not go below 47. Just flying around FPS were 80 to100+.
  19. I email TN Games about the vest: With the proper program, would the vest be able to inflate all the compartments to simulate g forces in a flight simulation, such as Lock On Modern Air Combat They said: Not exactly. The vest is designed to provide short burst impacts. However, we have a prototype vest for flight sims. We haven't release it as a saleable product, but plan to do so in the future. I'm patiently waiting.
  20. I had the same problum as CyBerkut, " The spousal unit ". But so far I'm able to snap the TrachClip Pro back together again.
  21. My setup , I used the TrackClip Pro. The TrackIR sits on the monitor, plugs into the G-19 keyboard's power USB port. The keyboard is plug into the monitor's USB port, and the monitor is plug in to a rear USB port on the computor. The headset LEDs are plug into the computor's front USB port. Works for me !
  22. The August/September issue of Combat Aircraft has a very detail article about the Russian Air Force. Make some good reading. Also check out there web site. www.combataircraft.net.
  23. Been grounded for a while. My graphics card went. It’s an AGP card which I was told by computer guys in the big box stores and a custom builder its out dated. I can’t even get an equal to it. Everything is PCI Express, Even tried sites such as Newegg, Tom’s etc. AGP cards that are available are low end. Time for a new unit. With the blessing of my wife, who told me “Don’t go cheap, get something that will last”, I order this unit from Dell. Ship date is 9-8-09. XPS 730x H2C i7-975, 3.33GHz. 8Mb L3 Cache SLI Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295, 3.5GB 6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 at 1066MHZ 256 GB Solid State Drive Dual Drives, Blu-ray Disc Burner and DVD-ROM Killer K1 Gaming Network Interface Card Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Didn’t go for the liquid cooling, since that added an extra month to the ship date. So until then I have to use the old graphics card and a CRT monitor. Damn, I miss the 30” wide screen.
  24. Works with the G19 keyboard. It made the price of the G19 worth it.
  25. To make it easier to bring myself back alive. I put a short cut to the pilot log book on the desktop.
