well 2 major problems i see - u have stuff in place where virtual cockpit is (desk, hotas, keyboard etc, so u cant reach it) - pushing buttons and knobs would be painful, u would have to be super precise and watch every button if u actually pushed it and the one you wanted, u cant feel it and some buttons give none or next to none visual and audio feedback when pressed

let him play free content, it should be enough to hook him in if theres anything to hook, then let him pick, its better since number of planes is so limited and amount of time you have to commit is huge

I used update over clean install and so far no problems but i played only little DCS. Shadowplay was crashing nvidia drivers but after clean driver install and one update its okey now. You should upgrade now so theres time to work things out before DCS 1.5 :>

I was rly surprised how detailed those craters are, on first stream Wags was slightly higher, now higher details kicked in. Can't wait for helicopters
