This is the actual Sabre I was trying to recreate:
-
Thanks guys. Interesting change doing JASDF. However I have been surprised at the lack of information available compared to USAF. Luckily I have found some useful websites. This one was a bit of a challenge: Its the CO's aircraft of the 3rd Squadron 2nd Air Wing as it appeared at Misawa AB in May 1975. The "snake heads" on the tanks proved interesting, as did getting the writing on the tanks to line up. I have submitted it to User Files so it should hopefully be up soon. It includes a generic version too.
-
First two are submitted to user files. I'm still working on the "adversary" version with the red band as I cannot get the red to look anywhere near right at the moment. The ones completed are from the 1st and 8th Squadrons.
-
Thanks GeorgeLKMT....that's a relief! I wasn't looking forwards to trying to translate them all.
-
Getting close to rolling this one out. Its still a WIP at the moment. Its from the 1st Air Wing, 1st Squadron according to my research. I still have to re-skin the tanks (both the 120 and the 200 type) and the pylons. I will also try and re-skin the pilots flightsuit to the orange JASDF version and removed the USAF symbol from it. But I have am having a tough time trying to matt down the metal finish to resemble the JASDF silver painted finishes without losing the metal effect completely. The data stencils are still in English as I cannot find a decent source to tell me if they should be in Japanese. I will also release a version without numbers with it. I am doing the "Aggressor" version with the red nose, fuselage band and wingtips next.
-
Glad to see you are coming back. I was getting lonely on here.
-
Thanks chaps.
-
Now submitted to DCS User Files so should be up soon. (I'm not 100% happy with the stripes under the nose but its the only way they would fit).
-
I decided to take a look at some post Korean War schemes and have had this one in mind for some time. From the 366th FBW, 391st FBS, it took part in the 1956 Gunnery Meet at Nellis AFB. The only illustration I could find is in the book "F-86 Sabre in color" by Larry Davis (Squadron/Signal publications "Fighting Colors" series). It's a work in progress but about 80% complete with some tweaking of the stripes alignment on the horizontal tails still to do and stripes still to be added to the fuel tanks. (Plus I'm trying some new metal finishes). It just seemed fitting for the excellent Nevada terrain in DCS 2.0. I hope to release it sometime next week.

I have been mulling over JASDF, I'll have a look after I finish my current project.
-
Final version is up now at User Files. I have adjusted the angle of the "Devils" head slightly and made him a little broader.
-
**Update** I have withdrawn this pack temporarily as I had a sudden attack of dissatisfaction with the Devil-art. I have made a few modifications and they should be back up on Monday.

Skate Zilla's F-86F Layered PhotoShop Templates - Unofficial
BoNidle replied to SkateZilla's topic in F-86F
I've said it before and I'll say it again: All Hail SkateZilla! -
Just submitted a three pack of the famous F-86E "El Diablo". I have depicted it before the application of the 336thFS badge, version 1 (V1) after the application of the badge black background, hence the halo of overspray (as in the B&W photo), version 2 (V2) and after the pilot, Chuck Owens, was promoted to Major with the full 336th badge applied. I have created the "Devil" artwork myself based on the photos. How successful I have been is open to opinion, but I tried to copy the photos as best as i could. Should be up at User Files later today. V1 V2 V3 Photo references:

Thanks lads, glad you like them. I enjoy recreating the lesser known units. I am not sure how accurate the under part of the stripes on "Miss Tena" are as I could find no illustrations or photos for that area. The angle they travel down the fuselage made it impossible to get them to travel around the rear of the main front gear door and, as can be seen from the photo of the real aircraft, the stripes do not cross it. So I have painted them up to the door on either side and stopped. If anyone has any references regarding this I would appreciate seeing them. I am currently partway through the 18thFBW and I'm looking at some South African Sabre's from the War too. @HeadHunter52: Always nice to find someone with a connection to the real thing. If your Dad was a pilot or ground crew and you have any images or info regarding his plane I would be happy to try and recreate it. I did this for several P-51 and P-47 veterans from WW2 in my days skinning "IL2". They are now uploaded to DCS User Files and should be up sometime tomorrow.
-
Hoping to have these available as a 4-pack on Monday. I am trying for a less reflective finish with my latest efforts, with varying degrees of success. (I have also tried reskinning the 500 pounders based on period photos I have seen. They will be included).

The previous update altered the description .lua in that it removed the lower dash "_" from the entries relating to the BORT number, but did not affect the tail entries. The new update has put the dashes back again which now gives the error on the fuselage numbers. Just open the description file in Notepad and replace the missing dashes so they look like the BORT_NUMBER_TAIL entries then save. This is how they should now look (Example used is Skyblazer Lead): {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_01", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_10", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_100", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_01", 0,"Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_10", 0,"Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_100", 0,"Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 0,"Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 0,"Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 0,"Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_01", 2,"f-86f_main_SPEC_Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_10", 2,"f-86f_main_SPEC_Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_100", 2,"f-86f_main_SPEC_Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 2,"f-86f_main_SPEC_Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 2,"f-86f_main_SPEC_Skyblazers_Lead", false}, {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 2,"f-86f_main_SPEC_Skyblazers_Lead", false}, Oh updates!! Why doth thou hateth my Sabre so?

Thanks for the kind words chaps. @brianjmac....and all others who will now have this issue following the latest update. I decided to give myself a break from Korea and do something a little more involved. The "Skyblazers were the aerobatic team for the USAF in Europe from 1949 to 1962. The used the F-86 Sabre between 1954 and 1956. The 1956 team comprised of; Lead: Capt Jim Reynolds (Sabre FU-192) Right Wing: Lt James Foster (FU-201), Left Wing: Lt Harold "Bud" Homan (FU-219), Slot: Lt Warren Efting (FU-186). I had originally intended to only do the Sabre of the team Leader, Captain Jim Reynolds, but once that was eventually finished I got carried away! These have been uploaded as a four pack to User Files and should be up soon. I will be returning to my Korean War skins as these may all look the same but there are subtle differences that nearly drove me nuts, so I need the rest! Lead and Right Wing Left Wing and Slot

Bit the bullet and uninstalled all modules then uninstalled DCS World 1.5.1 and did a complete reinstall.....success!! Everything normal again.

Try this, http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88855 Robo's explanation at point 4 is probably the easiest to follow.

I have not had a problem with installation until this update. When the previous update installed it completely ripped out my F-86F Sabre requiring a reinstall. Now the 1.5.1.46722 has maimed it in as much as I explained in my previous post regards the visible interior structure. In trying to fix this I uninstalled the Sabre hoping a fresh reinstall may assist. But now it will not allow me to reinstall at all. I get a "404 error". Any help or advice appreciated as I love my Sabre.....even if DCS World doesn't!:(
